Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

An unpunished coup is a training exercise.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

The gop couldn’t organize an orgy in a whorehouse with a fist full of 50s.

Republicans don’t trust women.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Putin dreamed of ending NATO, and now it’s Finnish-ed.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

“woke” is the new caravan.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Fuck the extremist election deniers. What’s money for if not for keeping them out of office?

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Donald Trump, welcome to your everything, everywhere, all at once.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

American History and Black History can not be separated.

“And when the Committee says to “report your income,” that could mean anything!

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

Amazingly, our popularity continues to wane in the Middle East the more bombs we drop.

    It’s not bombs. It’s Israel.

No comparison of the number of bombings and civilians killed by us, and others when Iraq was raging and thousands a month were being slaughtered. I agree it is mostly Israel, and maybe some “why not us” for world and US assistance given to Libya and not in Syria, or the other Arab Spring revolts.

Oddly enough, when you ask Arabs on the street why they don’t like America, most of them will tell you they do like America, but hate our government policies in their part of the world. Its all the dead dinosaurs behind most of it.

Though not with Israel, that is a different matter.

Libya is the only place where we are popular dumbass. At least we are bombing the dictator and his chad mercs there instead of propping him.
wanna know some reasons muslims hate us?
    Israelinazis

The Prohibition on Instituting a Boycott bill, intended to combat the growing support for international boycotts against Israeli academics and West Bank products, was sponsored by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s governing Likud party. But neither Mr. Netanyahu nor 10 other cabinet ministers were even in the chamber Monday evening when the bill was given second and third readings.
    __
However, though criticized by many as a suppression of free speech, the opposition was unable to muster enough votes to stop the legislation. It passed by a vote of 47-38 in the 120-seat Knesset.
    __
The law takes aim at groups such as Israeli entertainers who have recently refused to perform in West Bank theatres, and peace activists who discourage foreign supermarkets from buying any products made by West Bank settlements. It includes any Israeli who advocates an economic, cultural or academic blackballing of Israel or its West Bank settlements.

haw haw haw America is joined at the hip with “the only democracy in the ME”

Panetta is on a Iraqi tour to try to muscle Maliki into axing us to stay on, but that aint gonna fly with Muqtada. He and Allawi want to make America pay reparations.

An MP from the al-Iraqiya bloc said today that his party supports the Sadrist’s in their strident opposition to an extension of the U.S. troop stay.
Itab al-Dawri told AKnews that al-Iraqiya, headed by former prime minister Ayad Allawi, not only demands the departure of U.S. troops but it also calls for financial compensation and an official apology.
“The U.S. forces displaced 7 million Iraqis and left 5 million orphans and 2 million widows, according to international reports, and all MPs of the Iraqiya list agreed on refusing the extension of the presence of the troops,” she said.

Dude…we spent 4.4 trillion there an’ all we got to show for it is one measly church in Kirkuk.

    July 13, 2011 at 10:22 pm

my, this post really flushed out the trolls. I think the clearest statement I take away from this is, brown mooslims hate us no matter what we do because they are nothing more than a bunch of unlettered, unsaved scorpions crammed too tightly into a sack. They have an unthinking hatred for each other, and for godly white western hands which seek only to help them.

So, we may as well bomb the bezeesus out of them whenever the whim bites. And of course only a fool and a poltroon and a libtard would imagine that oil had anything to do with it.

    1. We were invited
    2. We are on the side of the Islamists for once, and that means we have a good chance at a positive outcome.
We are dropping bombs on genocidal tyrant Qaddafi and his supporters, instead of propping Qaddafi like we propped Mubarak, Saleh, the Shah, Assad, King of Bahrain, King of Jordan, and the Saud Princes.
For once we are on the side of democracy and on the right side of history.
We are on the side of the insurgents….for once.
Cole is just stuck in his glibertarian Obama concerntroll mode.

    This is part bullshit, Marbles.

The country that has most seriously supported Assad is Iran. Even now Iran is shipping aid to Assad.
Saudi is supporting the Sunni uprising and the Shia Iranians support the Alawite Assad regime, The Alawites have historical connections to the Shia. The Syrian uprising is part of the wider Sunni-Shia conflict.

Similarly in Bahrain where the Saudi invaded to support Sunni govt against Shia majority.

A Pakistan-China relationship is the only possible future. Pakistan and China have been close allies since forever. Pakistan was one of the first countries in the world to recognize the PRC. PRC assisted Pakistan nuclear industry including acquiring the Bomb.

IMHO US should support democratic India, post-AfPak.
That is far more consistent with US strategic goals and interests and values.

US is not dominant player in Libya. The agenda is being set by UK-France.

You forget how many Jews were driven out of Muslim lands and found refuge in Israel after 1948.

Your crap about only achievement is building a church in Iraq is whackjob psycho propaganda.
Building churches was never US goal in Iraq.

what do you think about this, Spock?

The Israeli parliament has passed a controversial law that will punish any Israeli individual or organisation boycotting West Bank settlements.
    __
Rights groups say the legislation stifles freedom of speech and compromises Israeli democracy.

sounds pretty fucking illiberal to me.

Your crap about only achievement is building a church in Iran is whackjob psycho propaganda.

we built a church in Iran? now THAT would be an achievement.
im saying the measly little church in kirkuk iraq is the only tangible achievement for our ginormous investment of blood and treasure.

BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: A Leading Member of Iraq’s Al-Daawa Party, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, has vowed on Thursday that his party would not allow the extension of U.S. troops presence in Iraq.
    __
“The Islamic Daawa Party is committed to the current Agreement, signed between Iraq and the U.S., that won’t allow the extension of the American forces in Iraq (after the end of 2011),” Haidar al-Ibady told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

Israel is to Gaza as Nazi Germany was to occupied Warsaw.

Even that is deeply flawed. Warsaw Ghetto was built as a holding pen because Warsaw was the center of the rail transportation network for the cattle cars that transported Jews to the death camps.

Warsaw ghetto only lasted 2 and a half years, because that’s how long it took to process the Jews through the extermination system.

And the Americans wiped out the Buffalo that was the foundation of the economy of the North American Indians.

My point is that colonialism and imperialism are 90% of the history of mankind.

And the reason is because the Earth has been populated for more than ten thousand years. And ever since then, the only way for one people to expand, is at the expense of another.
