Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When the time comes to make an endorsement, the pain of NYT editors will be palpable as they reluctantly whisper “Biden.”

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

“But what about the lurkers?”

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Second rate reporter says what?

The words do not have to be perfect.

Please don’t feed the bears.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Come on, man.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. don’t touch it.”

It’s a doggy dog world.

Democrats have delivered the Square Deal, the New Deal, the Fair Deal, and now… the Big Joe Biden Deal.

FFS people, this was a good thing. take the win.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Does anyone else remember the good old days when wingnuts were just pissed off about Rachel Ray’s scarves and not actively trying to wreck the country’s finances?

I think I am grilling a ribeye, pouring a scotch, and watching Torchwood. I can’t take anymore. And yes, I know it is only 5 o’clock.

I’ve never watched Torchwood, can someone list off a few reasons I might want to (real question, for instance I love both Firefly and Deadwood, just don’t know this show). Also, I hope I’m having steak tonight too.

It is like a sweeping scene From Gone With The Wind, that ended up on the cutting room floor.

The bullshit is flying fast and furious in these last moments, and it looks like Obama has called the party’s into his hurt locker, but separately, to get a bottom line from them. They are not even close to any deal, and this was probly set in concrete from day one.

Some wingnut mentioned impeachment, and how much fun to do that again, together with the wingers don’t want to have anything at all to do with raising the debt ceiling, to not get drawn and quartered by the teatards and Grover. Chickenshits, just like with HCR, and a bunch of other stuff, too afraid to do their jobs, and pushing it off on the POTUS.

The Guardian has posted a poll that shows 73% of Americans want the Justice Department to investigate Fox News. 27% of Americans presumably want to proclaim Rupert Murdoch as the Glorious Leader of the Christian Freedom Anti-Sharia League. At first I thought “ticket scalpers”, but 4 pre-sale tickets, they are only “will call” tics. So u have to bring a print out of ur purchase confirmation, and a photo ID the day is the show to redeem ur purchase. I wasn’t sure how a ticket broker could get around that?

I’ve been up for nearly 48 hours straight working, and am nearly mentally worthless except for snark, wonking and WoW. so I’m running dailies on all 5 of my toons and drinking decaf. Because I roll like that. Fricking needs to get dark so my mind can wrap around the concept of go to sleep.

Tried watching Torchwood. Wasn’t impressed at all. But I don’t watch Doctor Who either. I agree the premise was pretty compelling. That’s why I tuned in. But the acting/script just seemed off.

I liked season 1, and was sucked into the whole premise. Subsequent seasons haven’t clicked with me and I’ve lost interest, the luscious Ms. Myles nonwithstanding.

My employer is all up in the air about the government spending millions of dollars studying the length of dicks.

I ain’t even about to google it.

Hey John, pour yourself and extra drink ok?

Because Dan Choi just announced on his facebook that he is considering voting for former republican governor of New Mexico, Gary Johnson.

And this isn’t because Choi is a self-aggrandizing, one-hit wonder who doesn’t give two shits whether anyone else in the country lives or dies. Rather, it’s because, you know, there’s no difference between Obama and any republicans.

    @ Dennis SGMM:

When a friend and I go deer hunting we almost always go to the same area where a retired old-school butcher lives. He cuts the bucks and vacuum packages the venison. Supplemental income. He supplies a few restaurants in the area so sometimes he asks to trade us some of the venison for his service. He also raises a few cattle on his little acreage to supply those restaurants. Real nice guy. A vet too.

Two weeks ago he called saying he had a little oversupply asking if I’d want some. Asked how thick I’d like the steaks, how much fat to leave on. Made the drive to pick up for me and a few friends who said they were in. Immediately grilled some of those porterhouses. Telling you, they were better than some sex (pre-SO) I’ve had in the past.

I poured a glass of Chardonnay at 2:30 cst. This is the first day of a long weekend for me- much deserved. Not sure if I will stay buzzed the whole weekend but this is a great start. Between work, school, a Mother that is coming down with dementia and a country that is becoming an Idiocracy – drink and food is all I have left…

Apparently tomorrow the Pentagon is set to certify that the military is good-to-go on the DADT repeal. Would just need the president’s certification as well.

@taylormattd: It’s kind of pathetic. I was really impressed with Dan Choi when he first came out on Rachel Maddow’s show, but he’s turned into an egomaniac that doesn’t seem to have a clue as to how politics works.

I’m usually a lurker, but I have to come out in support of both Torchwood, which is an acquired taste, and diet Dr. Pepper with bourbon. Sounds terrible, tastes sublime.

I just had an 8 minute phone poll (robo style) from PPP. It was all political except for UOM and MSU coaches. Why do they want to know about THAT stuff?
