Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

This country desperately needs a functioning Fourth Estate.

No one could have predicted…

Consistently wrong since 2002

Republicans would impeach Biden if he bit into a whole Kit Kat rather than breaking the sections apart.

Let’s show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Maybe you would prefer that we take Joelle’s side in ALL CAPS?

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

The lights are all blinking red.

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

The willow is too close to the house.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

The choice is between normal and crazy.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

    Carry over from last thread:

Wife got a jury summons for US District Court. She cares for the kids, so she’s an easy out of it, but how interesting are cases at that level? I’m thinking she might enjoy this if I can work out a way to deal with the critters. I’ve gotten state superior and municipal court before, but never U.S.

The latest brilliant scheme from Food Inc.: giant, farm-raised salmon.

AquaBounty has outlined various safety precautions it would take to prevent that. The fish would be raised in tanks on land — mostly in the Panama highlands — rather than in the ocean pens used by the salmon-farming industry. The company would render the fish sterile and reverse the gender of the males so that all the fish in the tanks would be female. Should any fish manage to escape into the river adjacent to the fish farm, they would have a hard time surviving warmer waters downstream.

    What could possibly go wrong?

The problem with USDC is that the cases are all over the place. You can catch a constitutional dispute. Or you can catch a document-intensive case (government contracts disputes, Medicare fraud) that goes on for weeks and is of interest only to the true geek. Or you can catch the Mexican Mafia case and spend the rest of your life looking over your shoulder if you vote to convict. I would beat USDC jury duty in this district at all costs.

Alright, IDK if ya’ll care, but I love Adele, and so I was posting videos of hers on my FB page. I’d read somewhere that her “Rolling In The Deep” song was being played on the urban stations in NOLA. Now “Rolling In The Deep” does have some soulful undertones, but “urban” it is not!

Well my cousin send me the following link to “Rolling In The Deep”. It is a version of the song with a “bounce” beat underneath, and I just had to share it cause it made me smile. I like music than can transcend genre (the very first time I heard George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” was on my local “quiet storm” R&B station) and this just made me laugh.

“Rolling In The Deep” (MoneyFresh Remix)

Trial took one day – pretty dull, but it got me off the hook for subsequent jury duty for a year.
