Well, it’s a bit more IRL than the last thread… Just seemed appropriate for a Monday morning. Hat tip, commentor Kane.

    Weekend went by mighty fast. Looks like we’re going to have to keep an eye peeled for Hurricane Irene in these parts by the end of the week. Sure hope it just turns out to be a good soaking rain.

    @Phylllis: Last night it rained but not enough. It would be nice to have a soaking rain this weekend after the long hot summer.

    @JPL:

    I agree. Wish one of these pop-up storms would at least cool things off. Well, looking at the projected path of Irene, if it doesn’t veer off or fizzle out, we may get some of the rain on the leading edge. But that’s probably close to a week away.

    How about those Braves!?

    It looks like prosecutors may drop the the charges in the Strauss-Kahn case. Link.

    ETA: Doesn’t mean he didn’t do it. Doesn’t mean he did do it and a political fix is in. Probably just means that prosecutors really don’t think that they will be able to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

    @SiubhanDuinne: We’re about 60-70 miles from the SC coast, so likely not so much in the direct path. We are on the evacuation route though, and if the coast is evacuated we’ll have to look at possible school closures due to sheltering, etc. So I get to be on call to alert the media*. Thanks for the good thoughts.

    *Yes, I do hear John Geilgud in my head whenever I say/type that.

    LOL, I constantly use the “I’ll alert the media” line, probably to the point where my colleagues have forgotten where it came from!

    Assuming I ever get out of moderation hell here is an excellent story that I think deserves space on the front page and some thread. It pretty much lays out what the Masters Of the Universe are doing to us all . . . and its in FORBES!

    Thanks for that vid (I think LOL). I sooooo miss living in Japan (I had a condo 150M from the Harajuku train station for five years, and then moved to Shinshibashi in Osaka). Other places I’ve lived in, even Hong Kong, Singapore and now Bangkok, suck totally lifestyle-wise in comparison to Japan…

    Yes, this is a non-political post. The whole US political thing depresses me, even tho’ I have not lived in the US for decades, since I really do care about my country and still pay taxes to it. I wish I could see a positive outcome of all this. But it is hard….

    Oh, sorry. Don’t want to be depressing.
