If you are wondering why ABL is gone, maybe a reading of the comment section in DougJ’s thread below could hold some answers. I don’t read or comment at NO QUARTER for a reason, nor visit Freeperville for the same reason. Half a cesspool is not a full cesspool, like those places, but it is half a cesspool just the same. NO braner.

She definitely has a unique sense of humor which I like, but rubs some the wrong way. I don’t care for Freddie’s topics or writing style, but I don’t hop on every one of his posts to rant. I believe that’s why we have scroll button. Use it, folks. It’s really quite easy to do. After observing for a while, it appears that few of you need ABL’s posts to bitch and moan. So skip them and let those her enjoy her read in peace.

FWIW, I find most of her posts a little nutty. She’s way too quick to pull the trigger on white folks when they criticize the president on policy grounds, and her writing often sags and stumbles. She’s no Jamelle Bouie. I noticed she withdrew about the time the president put the safety net on the table during the endgame of the debt ceiling negotiations, thus negating all of her bold predictions that he’d never sell out his base.
At her best, though, ABL is hilarious and sometimes drives through the noise to make an original, salient point. I don’t miss her, frankly, but if John wants to keep her, that’s his deal.

I read the blog via RSS, so I almost never read the comments. I think her posts were well-written, though needless to say the ones that were directed at the comments always confused me. “Wait, people on the site got the vapors over THAT?”
Personally, if there’s a writer on the site who I don’t like, I just… don’t read their posts. It doesn’t strike me as being too difficult.

@BrklynLibrul: obama didn’t sell out his base and here’s a post explaining that point with crystal clarity. yes, he kicked the can down the road on revenue increases, and yes, some folks believe that it is his secret desire to gut social security and medicare. i happen to think that particular viewpoint is impossibly stupid, and contrary to what he has repeatedly said. i also understand that some folks start from the baseline of “Obama is a cavemeister.” i don’t believe that viewpoint is either productive or correct.
there are facts about what the debt deal does. you are entitled to your opinion on how to interpret those facts and you are entitled to your opinion on what obama’s endgame is, but simply claiming that he put the safety net on the table and sold out his base is not factually supported.
this is a common troll theme, and it’s as ridiculous as it is untrue. in fact, i bet you can’t find one post of mine that was grounded in “you’re racist because you criticize the president.” NOT ONE.
but hey — you’re entitled to your uninformed opinion, i guess. whatever makes you feel like king of the world.
