Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

“When somebody takes the time to draw up a playbook, they’re gonna use it.”

I am pretty sure these ‘journalists’ were not always such a bootlicking sycophants.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

… gradually, and then suddenly.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Come on, man.

People are complicated. Love is not.

Bark louder, little dog.

The desire to stay informed is directly at odds with the need to not be constantly enraged.

Cancel the cowardly Times and Post and set up an equivalent monthly donation to ProPublica.

This fight is for everything.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

President Musk and Trump are both poorly raised, coddled 8 year old boys.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

I swear, each month of 2025 will have its own history degree.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

We still have time to mess this up!

a couple of basic questions: When is the Dem primary?

Can EW use money donated in the primary in a general campaign?

I’d be more inclined if you changed your nym to “The Dougerhead”.
I’ve been enjoying things more lately when I add “The” to the front end.

Thanks for the reminder about donating to EW. I’ve been putting off any donations as I have to get approval through my employer’s compliance department, but it’s time to figure out the process. Nothing like a little rude comment to get me motivated.

I can’t identify the title reference.

When I run it through my database it just keeps turning up the same two George Thorogood lyrics:

Gonna have a drink man, I’m gonna get gassed.

Come on baby, have a taste with me.

    and those ain’t it. :(

I got the title reference. I guess you have to be of an age that you were heavily into pop-radio music around 1986.
