Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

A consequence of cucumbers

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Biden: Oh no. We’ve upset Big Pharma again.

There’s always a light at the end of the frog.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Please don’t feed the bears.

… gradually, and then suddenly.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

I’m more Christian than these people and I’m an atheist.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Despite his magical powers, I don’t think Trump is thinking this through, to be honest.

You can’t love your country only when you win.

I conferred with the team and they all agree – still not tired of winning!

“Why isn’t this Snickers bar only a nickel?”

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Concerning this weekend’s Emergency Pet Bleg:

I want to thank everyone again for all the donations to help Penny. It has been a more than usual hectic weekend for animal rescue in our area. This has caused me to be behind in my personal thank you notes to ALL who took the time, had the compassion and caring and generosity to help Penny. I promise that I will be in touch with everyone within the next 48 hours via email.
__
As mentioned before, will give updates on results of her surgery and her recovery process with new pictures too when available.

With gratitude,
Evelyn

Evelyn adds “Also trying to figure out how to get a calendar together ASAP for 2012. Will keep you posted.”

Good thing the rapid cancellation of the eponymous television show wasn’t an omen.

Our tenant and next door neighbors have a giant, sweet old monster black dog who has just been diagnosed with a tumor on it’s spleen. They can’t afford the operation, and even if they could it wouldn’t help him much. They have asked if I can look after him at times they can’t be there because they don’t want him to die alone. dang

@Raven (formerly stuckinred): How sad. There are times when I think it’s okay to let a dog die peacefully and without pain. If the dog is in pain, I do hope they will let the vet give it an injection.

    btw..did you get a x-ray?

OT..I just turned on NewsHour so missed the beginning but I did hear a jerk say “did you know that the 99 percent earn $500,000 or less”? Yeah for 90 percent of those the average is $31,000 asshole.

@JPL: They did get an xray and it confirmed the tumor. It’s touchy ground, I don’t want to give too much advice I will just respond when asked.

@JPL: Oh, me. I went to the doctor and she and I agreed there is little to be done. It is incredibly ugly, the discoloration has spread all over the top and side of the foot but it really doesn’t hurt that much.I think I got really lucky, you know, like when I fractured my vertebra!

I listened to Howard Stern this morning and he couldn’t understand why the protesters he sees on the news at OWS do not articulate very well what they are there for. I wish he could have seen this guy.
