Yes, it does (posting from Arizona).
Roger Moore
So why do you insist on starting it at 10:00 AM?
2liberal
Go Cardinals! I have season tix but this year since i have no car, I am not going to the games. I sold my ticket for this one at 3x face value on Ticketmaster.
PurpleGirl
But they have multiple games to play on any one day and if everyone is to get a chance to see all the games, they need to stagger game times. At least with football you have a set time for how long a game lasts and therefore you can stack game times. Do you want to cut the number of games you can see each game day?
(I don’t know much about sports and I don’t watch; just remembering Sunday afternoons when I dated someone who did watch a lot of football.)
asiangrrlMN
Go, Vikes. Sigh.
burnspbesq
Jets defense rises to the occasion.
Shame that Manchester United’s couldn’t do the same.
Steve
I used to hate Steve Largent as a kid, but I have no problem with Tim Tebow for some reason. I must have changed.
General Stuck
Brownies just won, barely. Which it always is when they do win. Can’t watch the game though, it pisses me off you have to get Dish TV to watch NFL games. Fucking fascists.
burnspbesq
The only good thing about playing NFL games at Wembley is that the fucking Glazers will get to see both of their teams lose in person on the same day.
asiangrrlMN
FUCK YEAH! The Ponder era begins with a touchdown pass!
ETA: Recalled. One yard line. But still!
BGinCHI
This is just too perfect:

This, by the way, is from the blog of Dave Berman, who was the front man and songwriter of the Silver Jews. One of the greatest bands in world history.
BD of MN
I should probably turn off the TV right now, the Vikes game is going to undoubtedly go downhill from here…
burnspbesq
Wait, seriously? The Seahawks got three points against the Browns’ defense?
burnspbesq
Oh, and I didn’t get to do this last night.

Yutsano
@burnspbesq:
In order to score against a defense, one must have an offense. There is still insufficient evidence Seattle has either.
General Stuck
@General Stuck:
I meant Direct TV, Dish is suitably marxist.
BruceFromOhio
@Yutsano: Cleveland O was on the field for 40 minutes. You may conclude whatever feels right.
Also: ATTENTION: NFL OFFICIATING SUXXXORS! LATE HITS BY BIG, LUMBERING LINEMAN SHOULD BE LEGAL, ESP. IF YOU’RE THE PGH STILLERS. THAT IS ALL.
BruceFromOhio
@asiangrrlMN: That was a nice opening score. Sigh?
Svensker
Jets come to play and mostly do. Also, WTF Chargers 2 minute drill? Could it have sucked more?
Also, officiating sucked on this game, too. Bogus calls on both sides.
Still, Jets!
JPL
It appears there are a few teams vying for the chance to select Luck in the first round. How do they decide if their are multiple contenders? Miami did their best today blowing a lead with three minutes left so I’m curious.
asiangrrlMN
@BruceFromOhio: I posted before the game started. And, yes, it was. The following Cheesehead touchdown? Not so nice.
@Yutsano: Hi, hon. What the hell is wrong with you?!?
Mr Stagger Lee
@General Stuck: That Browns game was the epitome of SUCK, though I am happy they won. Man both offenses stink! Seattle Sports radio will be interesting tomorrow, first their Huskies got slaughtered, the Coogs were the Coogs, and the Seahawks was a snore fest. Will they talk Softy off the ledge? Will Brock and Salk outdo Hugh Millen in having a snore fest of a show? Will the Groz get drunk on air?
Yutsano
@Mr Stagger Lee: I am of the conviction the quality of sports radio contributes to the suicide rate in Seattle.
@asiangrrlMN: Why I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Other than the Broncos are keeping me from a full on sports depression. And you know I don’t mean Denver.
burnspbesq
@Mr. Stagger Lee:
@Yutsano:
You could always talk Sounders. At least you have one good team in your town.
Mr Stagger Lee
@Yutsano: Oh! You read my mind! Any Hoo!!To those who hate the NFL The Rugby World cup is on New Zealand-France on NBC. But 5-0 All Blacks lead it is a snooze fest unless you are Zoe Bell or Peter Jackson.
Roger Moore
@Yutsano:
If Denver was keeping you from a full on sports depression, I’d say that there was either something severely wrong with you or you were a fan of some other team in the AFC West [ETA: and have very low standards].
asiangrrlMN
@Yutsano: You. Know. Damn. Well.
Cacti
It did start at 1 o’clock you entitled, provincial easterner.
Death Panel Truck
What the fuck are you talking about, Cole? Football starts at 10 a.m.
For those of us on the left coast. :)
Joel
The Vikings are really bringing it against the Packers, in what might be the only interesting game of the day (other than the race to the bottom game between MIA-DEN).
asiangrrlMN
@efgoldman: It’s just you.
Yutsano
@asiangrrlMN: I could break out the French video. That would have you about ready to fly out here just to kill me. But we eat at Wild Ginger first dammit!
@Roger Moore: My only salvation is my other alma mater. Which was starting to show signs of football brilliance when I was there right before their jump into Division 1. Now they’re currently undefeated and will most likely get screwed out of the NT game.
BruceFromOhio
After a tantalizing appetizer of a Vikings score on the opening drive, the AT&T UVerse deity has determined that the Cheesehead-Viking Apocalypse Opera is disallowed in my sector.
Darkness descends to the sound of NSA wiretaps and exhausted, drunken Dawgs.
Meanwhile, back in Arizona …
BruceFromOhio
@Death Panel Truck:
Why so late? Shots of Jack at the tailgate, 9am straight up. Pigskin: optional.
Morzer
Well, Tony Sparano is a strategic genius, that’s for sure. It took genuine talent to keep the Dolphins in pole position to Suck for Luck today. Presumably the next step is for Stephen Ross to invade Iraq looking for Rex Ryan’s secret WMD stash.
freelancer
Could have gone to this game, decided not to drop $90 a ticket for horrible seats. CBS has it in hi def and I got to sleep in.
General Stuck
@Mr Stagger Lee:
Winning isn’t everything; it’s the only thing
unless, of course, it’s somebody else’s team.
burnspbesq
@Morzer:
Rex’s WMD is no secret. His name is Mark Sanchez. It’s just an open question from week to week whether he’s going to massively destroy the opposition or the Jets.
Joel
@efgoldman: He told some long rambling story that went nowhere, using the word “Daddy” about 15-20 times. It sort of creeped me out.
Frankly, I hate the Fox broadcasts.
Morzer
@General Stuck:
Winning ain’t everything, but it beats the alternatives.
BruceFromOhio
From the ever-growing list of Things I Did Not Know:
Which happens to be today.
So the locally broadcast Browns/Seahawks on CBS precludes the local ability to see the Nordic Dairy Meltoff, in favor of two teams I care for not at all, and an essentially meaningless baseball outing.
Conclude: AT&T meets its match in NFL broadcast contracts.
Palolo lolo
it starts at 7am in Hawaii,so the last game is done by 1pm. It’s a bit better when DST ends-the games move up to 8 and 11 am. Pack looking lame,but it’s 80 and partly cloudy,so I don’t mind too much.
Morzer
Strange days. I may even feel compelled to cheer for the Viking Quarterback Retirement Mobile Home Unit against the Pack, just to make sure they don’t spoil the Suck for Luck stakes with a delayed run of.. well .. suckitude.
Still, I’ll always have the Clay Matthews jersey and bottle of scotch.
Morzer
@efgoldman:

Jump to the 3.30 mark for the reference.
JWL
It also ends near midnight on the east coast. Way better in PST-land, where a person can watch a late game and still get a good night’s sleep.
S. cerevisiae
…aaand here comes the Viking collapse. Sigh.
Batocchio
Finley in the end zone!
Omnes Omnibus
@Batocchio: Pack is looking really good thus far in the second half.
asiangrrlMN
@Morzer: Don’t bogart, bro. Hand ’em over.
@efgoldman: Sigh. Touchy subject as the stadium financing thing is coming up again. But, yes, Metrodome for now.
@S. cerevisiae: I know, right?
John Weiss
@asiangrrlMN: Sigh indeed.
Joel
So many Christian Ponder isn’t that good after all.
asiangrrlMN
@John Weiss: It’s almost worse when they start out well ‘coz then I have a flicker of hope.
Oh, and Cheeseheads, couldn’t you have mercy and just give us this one game? You’ll win more!
Irony Abounds
I absolutely hated how the announcers were fellating Tebow. He had a terrible terrible game and was only bailed out by a Dolphins implosion, a botched recovery on the onside kick and some incredible catches. Now he’ll be treated as some miracle worker. Makes me want to puke.
Batocchio
@Omnes Omnibus:
Even better after that interception.
Ponder has played well, overall, though, which should be encouraging for Vikings fans. (And it would be a shame if L.A. stole another team from MN.)
S. cerevisiae
C’mon Ponder, shake it off and learn from it. Still plenty of time.
asiangrrlMN
@Batocchio: Whatever. The Vikings can go for all I care. I’m sick of this stadium welfare bullshit.
Morzer
@Irony Abounds:
Denver Jizzus must have someone looking after him, because he was flat awful for the vast majority of the game. And then the Dolphins remembered the Suck for Luck gameplan and fell apart.
Batocchio
@asiangrrlMN:
That was going on even when I was in college in MN! I don’t think it’s ever stopped, alas.
But most Angelinos don’t care about getting a football team, because the big passion here is the Lakers. And MN already lost the Lakers, and the Northstars… although they got replacement teams. The point is, whether it’s losing a team or blackmail for a stadium, Minnesotans deserve better.
Batocchio
Wow, impressive boot by Crosby!
Omnes Omnibus
58 yarder. Damn.
Batocchio
Great run by Peterson, breaking tackles. And former Packer Longwell is right on the money, as usual.
Omnes Omnibus
@Batocchio: Dude has over 160 yards.
4jkb4ia
It may be time for this Lambs game to be put out of its misery, on both sides of the ball.
Here’s Douthat, John, in the highly likely case you weren’t paying attention:
Romney “embodies the very tendencies that the conservative movement came into being to resist: technocracy, ideological flexibility, Northeastern moderation” and is “America’s most opportunistic politician”. But “Romney is improbable, but his rivals are impossible, and so he will be the nominee”.
Glad to hear you are feeling better today.
/exercises somewhat heroic self-control not to change name to RallySquirrel
asiangrrlMN
@Batocchio: I’m thoroughly demoralized on the whole sports issue. At least the Lynx won!
S. cerevisiae
Nice TD pass from Ponder! The kid is still willing to air it out.
Batocchio
@asiangrrlMN:
Huzzah!
Well, the Vikings are making a game of it now. We’ll see how this shapes up…
Thymezone
Bright spot for Cardinals fans: One step closer to getting Whisenhunt fired.
Later today, on the local paper comments board: Fire Whisenhunt!
Oh yeah, and replace him with what?
I dunno, how about your mother? I am sure she will do better.
2liberal
i am pretty much done with Whuz. THe team is done for this year, and should start playing the kids at the LB spot. they also should do some experimenting, like for example play a 4-3 as i think they have better players for that scheme. but they wont/
I don’t think Kolb makes it in the long run, too many of his passes get batted around and he acts scared in the pocket.
My prediction is that they will both be here until the end of 2013 and then the bidwills will clean house.
S. cerevisiae
Well, the Vikes covered the spread which was better than I expected. Ponder made some rookie mistakes but overall showed a lot of potential.
arguingwithsignposts
There are several teams still in the Suck for Luck sweepstakes, including the Colts, who are about to lose another to the Saints.
Thymezone
@2liberal:
It’s an arithmetic problem which has caused Whiz to manage a losing record, and lose 3/4 of his games in the last two years, with a team that took him to the Superbowl not long ago.
The problem is that he has a 20 point offense and a 30 point defense. Just got them backwards, is all. 20 point offenses don’t win in the NFL, and 30 point defenses don’t win in the NFL. So on each point, the team is doomed. Together, they could lose all their remaining games this year, possibly, with a good deal of talent on the field. Mismanagement on a rather dramatic scale.
Palolo lolo
@JWL:
The late game ends @ 5pm in Hawaii-still have daylight :)
JWL
@Palolo lolo: But the early games in the islands start at what? 7 AM?
You can’t tell me Hawaiians never rip it up on Saturday night, and are then inclined to sleep in on Sunday morning.
A 10 AM start for NFL games is just about right.
Ron
On another note, seeing the score tonight makes me think the NFL needs a mercy rule.
Ron
On another note, seeing the score tonight makes me think the NFL needs a mercy rule.
Ron
I have no idea why there is a double post there.
Suffern ACE
@Ron: I have never seen a worse game of football at the professional level. I’ve seen uglier games, sure, games marred by bad field conditions and fighting and whatnot. But the Colts are a pathetic Division III NCAA team at the moment.
