Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Rupert, come get your orange boy, you petrified old dinosaur turd.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

This blog will pay for itself.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

The snowflake in chief appeared visibly frustrated when questioned by a reporter about egg prices.

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

Those who are easily outraged are easily manipulated.

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

The words do not have to be perfect.

The desire to stay informed is directly at odds with the need to not be constantly enraged.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

Today’s gop: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

Let me file that under fuck it.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

Up late working on a project, and it dawned on me what the inevitable next step is in this Cain sexual harassment saga- the old nuts and sluts defense. Right now we have the third woman coming forward claiming he harassed her, a GOP flack claiming he witnessed improper behavior at another time, and while one victim will not come forward, I think it is safe to say that others eventually will and there will be another. Remember, at first it was just one woman that Weiner was sexting and at one point Tiger only shagged one pr0n star, but we all know how these things work.

So, inevitably, more women will come forward, and eventually someone will go on record, at which point we can expect the smear campaign to begin with the ferocity of a couple Katrinas. That’s just how these guys roll, whether it is a couple college kids, Graeme Frost, or anyone else that crosses the current wingnut id. Hell, just yesterday, the Daily Caller did an expose on the folks arrested for peacefully protesting at #OWS, claiming they all live in expensive homes (It never occurred to them that these kids live at home at 27 and that is kind of why they are pissed off).

Again, this is how they roll- deny, deny, obfuscate, destroy. It’s as inevitable as the four seasons, so I fully expect a complete swiftboating of anyone who speaks out, and for the wingnuts to think the real victim is Herman Cain, assaulted by racist liberals, a couple of uppity bitches, and the liberal media. And tiny purple fishes run laughing through your fingers.

You’re exactly right. I hadn’t really thought of it before, but this has all the makings of a Tiger Woods type scandal. Women start coming forward talking about what a sleaze Cain is, the crazy right gets their hackles up and goes full bore wingnut on these poor women and Cain sheds women voters like Tunch sheds fuzzy wuzzies.

Of course this is all good news for John McCain.

Also too, FUCK those people (like David Frum) who still struggle to see the difference between consensual sex between adults and harassment. Assholes.

All I’m wondering is what ethnicity these women are. If they’re black, it’s sad to say he might have an easier time ducking, dodging and fighting this scandal than if they happened to be white.

@Jenny: If he pulls out of this, he might be nominated by sheer force of will, if the GOP establishment want it. But it’s a guaranteed loss — some bigots will rather stay at home rather than vote for some…yeah.

At least they’ll overlook Mittens’ magic underwear mysticism since he’s a white guy, just like them.

Ann Coulter, whose star and book sales have been fading, apparently sees this as a great opportunity to work her special grift of tribal resentment for fun and profit. And she is never one to let the facts get in the way of a good narrative of “librul” mean, bad, picking on innocent “conservative.” In this case the facts are that Cain’s Conservative political rivals and enemies (Karl Rove???) are the ones who dropped this load of manure on the Hermaniator through organ, Politico, that is definitely right of center, as exemplified in its 3 principle officers: “John F. Harris and Jim VandeHei left The Washington Post to become Politico’s editor-in-chief and executive editor, respectively, launching the newspaper on January 23, 2007. Frederick J. Ryan Jr., former Assistant to President Ronald Reagan,[2] is president and CEO.[3]” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politico

In her column, she cherry picks two quotes from Fox News’s cadre of stooge Democrats that were critical of Condoleeza Rice and then drawas a comparison of Condi’s qualificaitions with Hilary Clinton, neglecting to mention the 8 years that Hilary was a Senator. (I really should get into the gold racket, because if the fools who read Human Events believe this crap, they will believe anything.)

Finally, real “librul” publication that Politco. Of course the mainstream media and cable news laps it up, not because they are “librul,” but because they are senationalistic, entertainment driven outfits, with a high school culture endlessly titillated by sex stories. Really, the culture exhibited on the TMZ show is probably more sophisticated now than that in most news rooms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TMZ_on_TV

The irony here of course is that this was the precise strategy employed by the Clinton Administration against one Monica Lewinsky. Amazing how many forget the campaign orchestrated by Sidney Blumenthal to slut shame Ms. Lewinsky into obsolescence. If it weren’t for one tainted blue dress, I expect she would be roaming the halls of St. Elizabeth’s right now.

  47. 47.

    Julia Grey

    November 3, 2011 at 1:06 pm

I agree that the defense against Monica’s claims was a variation on the slut shaming scheme, and that it might have worked if she hadn’t kept the dress. However, let’s remember that SHE did not bring the original charges against him, Linda Whatserface did. Once Lewinsky was caught in the net, she told the truth, as the law required her to do. And above all, let us remember that it was not only a consensual relationship, but she admitted under oath that SHE came on to HIM, repeatedly. Not entirely innocent, in other words. It was important that she was not a victim. So discussion of her role in the matter, and her patterns of past sexual behavior, even, were relevant to Clinton’s defense.

“Slut shaming” being used as a defense against Cain’s harrassment charges is another kettle of fish entirely. The women are victims, so trying to smear them with their sexual histories would be, you know, WRONG.

The slut shaming has begun in earnest!

Pajamas Media has an update with more details of the story and includes the woman going back to Cain’s apartment and waking up there. The story doesn’t state whether the woman knew she was being propositioned for sex, nor does it deny such, but does imply she was probably drinking.

Comments on the Pajamas Media thread include this load of bile:

So the whore went to Cain’s apartment and decided the next day to shake him down. Yes, he displayed bad judgment. He went to bed with a bimbo. I hope he got checked out for STDs, afterwards. We have a former president against whom credible charges of forcible rape have been made by a real woman with a face and a name, and the Enemy Press back paged it and vilified her. We have a former president against whom credible charges of sexual assault have been made by a real woman with a face and a name, and the Enemy Press back paged it and vilified her. We have a former president who had so many bimbos falling out of trees on him, that the term “Bimbo Eruption” became a household phrase, and the Enemy Press back paged it and vilified them.
So let it be with this whore. Send her back to her street corner.
I don’t care if Cain has a closet full of corpses. In this political climate, it means nothing.

    Ugly!
