Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

All hail the time of the bunny!

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Second rate reporter says what?

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“Alexa, change the president.”

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

In my day, never was longer.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Let it all out.

No Max pic this time. Instead a macro that I took last August. E-P1 with a manual focus Sigma 50mm 2.8 macro, plus a corded diffused FL-36R held below for light.

I don’t know if I posted this here, but this video is both the cutest and the sweetest video I have evah seen. Call me sappy, but it may be misty-eyed a little. If I ever get married…me and my “diddy” (as they say on the south side of Dallas) are sooo gonna do something like this..LOL!

Ahhh, a nice calming open thread.

Rough day. Everything was harder than it should have been. All luck went the other way.

On the other hand, Mitch McConnell’s office is occupied.

We have more. Life goes on.

    @Linda Featheringill:

I got power back yesterday after four days in the dark and cold, so everything seems great to me today! A toasted English muffin for breakfast! Yay!

Seeing ants on Balloon Juice warms this myrmecologist’s heart.

In case you were wondering, that’s Tapinoma sessile, the odorous house ant.

Republicans to Obama: To hell with the infrastructure.

Republicans in the Senate Thursday dealt President Barack Obama the third in a string of defeats on his stimulus-style jobs agenda, blocking a $60 billion measure for building and repairing infrastructure like roads and rail lines.

    Sigh.

    And great photos!

Like the variation of the macro and the long shot.

Tim F, your first photo is labeled “Ant 2.” That suggests to me that there’s an “Ant 1” somewhere about. Is it worth seeing?

Oh, and MAX!! What a handsome guy.

@Brachiator: Elmo, love the GS, what gorgeous dogs.

I, too, have a 50mm 2.8 Sigma macro lens for my Canon–great lens!
