Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Not all heroes wear capes.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Fight them, without becoming them!

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

Because I can, is why. (It’s not what I was searching for, but YouTube will take you down all sorts of wormholes.) I agree with Katrina vanden Heuvel that the supercommittee should disband, but it’s too early in the morning to start that discussion. And there’s not much I can add to the Fad Topic of the Moment, after I’ve agreed with Gail Collins: “Sexual harassment is a serious subject. But Herman Cain isn’t.”
__
So… What’s on the agenda that might’ve been overlooked?

One of the best Pierce columns; that’s the agenda item:

We are either going to get rid of the authoritarians or we’ll perish.

What’s on the agenda? The trial balloon of war with Iran, that’s what.

I love this song. It was a heeeuuuge deal here in Nashvegas: No matter how safe and cuddly and we-are-the-worldy it looks now, the line about people being able to love who they want was downright radical to the suits on Music Row.

The story came out around the same time that Garth’s sister was a…lesbian!

I would love to do this with my church choir.

this OWS stuff is great and all but just because we are linking hands across the world or having a global mind meld or something, don’t expect me to stop being a world class curmudgeonette .

    (via Attackerman)

The Department of Defense announced today the deaths of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. They died Nov. 1, in Paktia province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked their vehicle with an improvised explosive device.

Killed were: Spc. Christopher D. Gailey, 26, of Ochelata, Okla.; and Pfc. Sarina N. Butcher, 19, of Checotah, Okla.

(From various Oklahoma news services, via google news)

Private First Class Sarina N. Butcher joined the Oklahoma National Guard when she was seventeen years old, about six months after giving birth to her daughter Zoey. Her grandfather and brother were in the military; Sarina reportedly wanted to continue in their tradition, as well as work towards a nursing career to support her child.

She finished her training a year later, as an automated logistical specialist (duties include “maintaining stock records and other documents such as inventory, material control, accounting and supply reports”). Six months later her vehicle was hit by an IED in Afghanistan and she died. She was 19 years old, and hadn’t finished high school yet.

Also killed was Specialist Chris Gailey who graduated high school when he was 20, a year after he joined the Oklahoma Guard. He deployed to Iraq in 2007 as a motor vehicle operator (“He loved to be outside riding four-wheelers and mudding with his friends,” said his friend Heather). He is survived by his three year old daughter, Ally.

Your comment, about the deaths of two of your own country’s soldiers, is heartless and offensive.

    @Samara Morgan:
Neither your quoting the Bible nor your new claim to identify with all mankind (which, by the way, seems inconsistent with your disdain for “WECs” and “‘slines” and “cudlips” among others) makes your comment #12 any less heartless or offensive.

you see…i have to see that as justice when weighed on the scales against the millions of brown-people-deaths caused by my “own country” either directly or indirectly.

I don’t believe justice exists in nature Samara. Aside from humans constructing it as a cultural invention.

    Besides, you oversimplify.
