Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

I’m more Christian than these people and I’m an atheist.

People are complicated. Love is not.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

He really is that stupid.

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

The choice is between normal and crazy.

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

‘Museums aren’t America’s attic for its racist shit.’

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

Trump’s legal defense is going to be a dumpster fire inside a clown car on a derailing train.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

…and a burning sense of injustice to juice the soul.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

I did not have this on my fuck 2022 bingo card.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

When the time comes to make an endorsement, the pain of NYT editors will be palpable as they reluctantly whisper “Biden.”

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

It’s easier to kill a dangerous animal than a man who just happens to have different thoughts/values than one’s own.

Ravens and Steelers. I’m doing my breathing exercises right now. By breathing exercises, I mean I hold my breath and chug scotch, exhale, pace the room, hold my breath, chug scotch, exhale, pace the room…

Don’t know how to link sites but if you’ve never checked out the website
Behindthsteelcurtain.com I highly recommend it. Go Steelers!

    That sounds like a Browns fan’s pre-game breathing exercises…

I just come home to find that the Patriots have gone ahead late. I’m still expecting a loss here.

@Villago Delenda Est: This Brown’s fan is back in hell, this season’s over. Tim Tebow is actually having a good game.(or is the bar that low)

@Mr Stagger Lee: I thought the Raiders defense was as good as gold for me this week. They’re actually good in real life, for one, and Tebow.

And the weirdness in the GB/SD game has been ratcheted up to 11. What was a laugher has turned into a nail biter. C’mon Packers, hold onto this, would ya?

Shouldn’t you pace yourself on the Scotch? Don’t wanna peak too soon. Sometimes the 4th quarter is worth watching from above the coffee table.

    @Gravenstone:

I will take this opportunity to say what I said at the end of many games last season: The Packers defense might bend, but it doesn’t break!

UGHHHHHHH! I’m catching up on DVR queue and the Goddamn ABC station in Dallas, keeps putting in their damn news promo at end of the shows when you get to see what’s happening on the next episode of a show. It’s really pissing me off! Is it sad that I just wanna know Who the hell do I can complain to about it?

@Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again): True. And it seems McCarthy has gotten over his tendency to take his foot off the gas when they have a late lead. So that’s one less source of anxiety.

OK John, here is the context for what I wrote last week–The Dispossessed:

Sabul had nursed ten years’ resentment against the Physics Review of Ieu Eun University, which had referred to his theoretical work as “crippled by provincialism and the puerile imprecision with which Odonian dogma infects every area of thought.” “They’ll see who’s provincial now!” he said, grinning. In nearly a year’s acquaintance Shevek could not recall having seen him smile.

This is given the big assumption that you read it. But I read it today and I realized that it might not come out as “I’m happy for you.”

Of course given what happened this week, the Patriots may very well be the team who just aren’t very good.

And you won’t have Tony LaRussa to kick around anymore. I didn’t forget, I just wasn’t here.

I don’t pay attention to football. I’m more of a baseball man, and of course that’s over (it was over when SF blew it).

…gotta say, cole: you make football sound pretty fun.

chug scotch, exhale, pace the room…
