Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

No Justins, No Peace

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

Israel is using food as a weapon of war. Unforgivable.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

“Why isn’t this Snickers bar only a nickel?”

This fight is for everything.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

When we show up, we win.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

I’m pretty sure there’s only one Jack Smith.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

So many bastards, so little time.

On my way down to Walker’s. I’ll have on pinstriped pants and a navy trench coat. I like eerily like former Congressman Patrick Kennedy.

I want GPS-enabled pings and then dodgy recordings that keep dropping out just when things get interesting.

I waited on the bullet train at Union Station, but it never came.

    Thanks Obama.

Have fun, folks. I won’t make it. The F train in Brooklyn is shut down for construction this weekend, which means a jammed-to-the-gills shuttle bus instead, and I already went thru that nightmare once on Friday night.

If anyone posts here from the bar the sheer geekiness will create a nerd infundibulum above lower Manhattan. I wonder what the geek version of “Zul” is.

Please, please, please blog the meetup live! I’m building an email blast for a client this afternoon and have no other life.

Would have liked to be there but got caught between the rock (children) and the hard place (better half) and did a week’s worth of grocery shopping. Listening to the Giants and hoisting one in your general direction!

What a fun meetup. Thanks to everyone for the great conversation! And it’s nice to have faces to put to names. (Though you’ll have to keep reminding me, as I’m really, really bad at remembering names and faces. Politics was never going to be a career option for me based on that alone.) Lovely afternoon!

La Caterina and I had a great time meeting fellow Juicers (DougJ’s eerie resemblance to Patrick Kennedy would be eerier if he resembled Patrick Kennedy, but we found him anyway).

The conversation was excellent, the company congenial, and I even met a colleague from a decade back. However, Needz Moar Tunch!

    Thank you.

First of all, many thanks to Doug for proposing this gathering during his visit to New York City. It was a welcome initiative. I do suspect, however, that a career as a stunt double for Patrick Kennedy will not be as rewarding or successful for him as the one he now practices.

Second of all, what a impressive group of characters! It was a delight to be among the corporeal presences (rather than the virtual) of such thoughtful and engaging people.

I am sorry only that due to the large number of attendees and the ever-lengthening table necessary to accommodate us all, I did not get a chance to converse with more of you. I very much enjoyed wide-ranging discussions with: celiadexter, chopper, davenyc, jgabriel, johannes, nicole, purplegirl, sfinny, and will. A true pleasure to have met each of you.

I’d surely recommend, if at all possible, that clusters of Balloon Juicers in other areas arrange similar occasions. Good company, good conversation, good food and drink is a combination always to be savored.

It would be nice if Kay or Zandar could get us together sometime up in the Cinn. area. We have several juicers from S. Ohio/N. Kentucky.

    Your meetup sounded great!
