Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

“Perhaps I should have considered other options.” (head-desk)

Trump’s cabinet: like a magic 8 ball that only gives wrong answers.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

“Alexa, change the president.”

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

This chaos was totally avoidable.

American history and black history cannot be separated.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

I have other things to bitch about but those will have to wait.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

Fear or fury? The choice is ours.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

No Kings: Americans standing in the way of bad history saying “Oh, Fuck No!”

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

It’s all just conspiracy shit beamed down from the mothership.

This isn’t that brilliant, but I like the idea for the song.

Also too…open thread.

It may not be brilliant but it works and has a nice melody… “save the rich”

Get them a cable news roundtable/variety show.

They can be their own guest artists.

Save on the budget, with cross over appeal. An obvious win win.

@arguingwithsignposts: And no amount of maidenly beauty, insight, and some talent for the arts can make up for that? What have we, as a nation, come to?

I like the last verse where they completely summarize Republican voters:

    Save the rich
    It’s so easy to do
    Just let yourself be ignorant
To what’s been done to you
    __
    Save the rich
    By doing nothing at all
    Deny all sense and logic
    And just think really small
    You should think really small
Or just don’t think at all
    And save the rich

    Lyrics here.

    @jl:

What have we, as a nation, come to?

    You don’t want to know.

The funniest thing about the video to me is the innocent look that they both have. But, yeah, they have nothing on Luke Russert or Chelsea Clinton, sadly.

NYT is reporting that Joe Paterno transferred ownership of his house to his wife for $1 back in July.

It’s almost as if he knew he’d be facing some claims on his assets, no?

    I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

Oh, I misunderstood. Then you are wrong. If they are sincere and clueless, then they have a chance. I for one, welcome my new mass media news overlords, whoever they may be.

If you haven’t done this already, call your reps and senators about these abominations:

    Summary: http://americancensorship.org/
    Details of bills:
    http://www.opencongress.org/bill/112-s968/show
    http://www.opencongress.org/bill/112-h3261/show

It’s big content trying to kill the internet. Much worse than DMCA because it allows an entire site and its access to payment processors to be shut down without due process if someone claims any content they own is on the site anywhere, even as a link to that content in a blog comment.

Sponsors include Wasserman-Shultz and Durbin so it’s a wonderfully bipartisan crock of shit.

G&O always gives me cognitive dissonance because they look like the cast members from Three’s Company.
