I was literally choked up when I saw that on the feed last night, and that is an incredible story about the women who let him do it from her apartment.

I’m still a little leery of what OWS is trying to do (or not do or whatever) other than get the media to pay attention (which may be enough, I’m not sure). But the Bat Signal is too fucking cool.

THIS.
/Also, too.

An interesting part of the symbolism is that the fairly grim public housing where they set up the projector is so close to the Verizon tower.

Very cool.

anybody see the Rove meltdown in front of protesters (few days ago)? gonna check into it after i get off work.
Rove: “who gave you the right to occupy America?”
Cat Lady
This is the beginning of the beginning. The 99% toothpaste is out of the tube, and once something has been accurately identified and catchily named, the game changes. OWS is just taking its path, like water.
Chris
@harlana:
LOL. Who gave him and his entire party the right to sell it?
jayboat
Very, very cool.
harlana
@Chris: really, a very telling response!
Also, seeing Karl Rove have a temper tantrum in public is just a thing of beauty.

@13th Generation: (#1)
The loudest and most sustained roar during last night’s march over the Brooklyn Bridge arose when those images appeared on the Verizon and other nearby buildings. That response to the images brought tears and hugs among the fellow protesters/strangers with whom I was walking.
@harlana: (#6)
Yes, do view the clip. Seems something must be working.
harlana
@handsmile: i can’t wait! also can’t wait to check out the bat signal vids.

@handsmile:
I know from your comments that you’ve been active in the OWS.
I truly hope that this is just the “beginning of the beginning.” Nothing happens overnight and nothing good ever comes easy.

@Chris: and Iraq is still waiting for their answer.

@13th Generation: I was choked up too. This is so great and the story of who did it and the woman and her family who let them use her apartment – they are awesome!

@handsmile: Cross thread post, but you asked me about Occupy Chicago in the other OWS thread.
I have been to a couple GAs and marched several times. Unfortunately, my job has consumed my free time recently and I haven’t been in over a week. We don’t have nearly the number of people involved as there are involved in NYC and the space they’ve chosen to picket (Lasalle & Jackson) is an intersection in the financial district with not a lot of foot traffic.
Personally, at some of the GAs I’ve been to, I think people are concentrating on feel-good minutae instead of practical actions, but that’s direct democracy for you, slow and messy. I’m trying to shore up my lack of ability to be down there much with material support until my schedule changes…

OWS-related, the cops may have erred macing the 84-year old lady.

@singfoom: i’m sure you saw lots of people pooping in the streets and on each other, as per Fox News. they, and Rush, seem to be a bit obsessed with this topic.
all i have to say is, considering there are cameras everywhere, where’s the video(s) of people pooping in the streets? if such tapes existed, they would be running day and nite on Fox with the poops pixillated out.
Bill in Section 147
@harlana: Rush is reviewing those tapes in the VIP Room.

also, apparently, people are having sex in the streets, willy-nilly
where do i sign up? ;)

@harlana: Yeah, no pooping observed in Chicago. One drunk asshole who started yelling and disrupted the GA a lot, cops got in his face because he was screaming obscenities…
Otherwise, just normal marching and chanting and then discussion in the GAs.

Demands:
http://ninedemands.com/petitions/dailykos
9 demands of the 99%.
These demands represent reform of the present economic system to give a little slack to the 99%. If the Powers That Be were smart, they would try to meet these demands.
If these Powers are stupid, they won’t give in to these demands and will help set up conditions ripe for something more radical than reform.

I still have a comment in moderation. Can somebody please release it?

@trollhattan:
Read the comments. Most of them say that the old lady had it coming to her. “Conservatives” disgust me.
singfoom
@gocart mozart: Yeah, that shit is fucked up.
“You get into the street, you deserve to be pepper sprayed.”
I mean, if you plan on civil disobedience and you break low level laws, you should be ready to be arrested. That doesn’t mean that if you’re peaceful that you deserve to be pepper sprayed. That’s just awful.
