Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If you are in line to indict donald trump, stay in line.

Donald Trump, welcome to your everything, everywhere, all at once.

Biden: Oh no. We’ve upset Big Pharma again.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Be a traveling stable for those who can’t find room at the inn.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

Ron DeSantis, the grand wizard, oops, governor of FL.

The choice is between normal and crazy.

The frogs are rarely mistaken.

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

Live so that if you miss a day of work people aren’t hoping you’re dead.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Bark louder, little dog.

The new republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

It’s one of those nights. I have all the faculty members from the college in the town I live here at the house, and it’s worse than your usual frat party.

I’m going to start cooking to hopefully sober some of these people up.

I love this song. It is my official “get psyched to watch the Ravens beat the Steelers” theme song.

    INTRODUCTION AND PREAMBLE
    >>
When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for the Citizens of a Nation to petition their own Government for a redress of grievances, the People have a duty to exercise their rights under the First Amendment collectively if they so choose. To this end, We the People hereby assert our right to peacefully assemble and petition our Government for redress when we feel that this is our best, and perhaps only remaining option to seek remedies.
    >>
We affirm that any lasting and workable solution must reach beyond mere politics, that political issues do not matter at a time when our collective voice has been nearly silenced. We believe that the current political climate has caused a paralysis of our Government. We find that our individual opinions mean little when we are no longer being properly represented. In fact, we believe that the Balance of Power between the Branches of our Government has been corrupted to the point where it can answer only to members of an affluent and politically active upper class. The impending result of this imbalance is that government of the People, by the People, for the People has almost perished from Our Nation. We believe that government has been influenced by an external source that has conspired to control it to the point of stalemate. We believe that this was forced upon us by “special interests”, corporations, lobbyists, the banking and the financial sector including Wall Street and the Federal Reserve, who together have used unrestrained financial leverage leading to the corruption of many politicians, regardless of their political party, resulting in great damage to the People and to this Nation.

@bin Lurkin’: Bit of a mish-mash of the Declaration of Independence, Gettysburg Address, and other historical documents. If one wants to have an impact, like the source docs did, it is best to be original.

I love Gogol Bordello! John Cole, you have impeccable taste!

“Start Wearing Purple” was played in the end credits for the movie “Everything Is Illuminated.”

I’m partial to “Wonderlust King myself.

Hell, “Super Taranta!” is a great album.

The kids are just sitting there, and the cop makes a grand, sweeping gesture as he takes out the canister.

    It’s going to get worse.

@bin Lurkin’: They weren’t updated; the phrases were strung together with some modern language as filler. I am a fan of literary and historical allusions, but these were not well done.

@Omnes Omnibus: With all due respect, and I mean that truly, the document speaks truths to me, it could be done better perhaps but your audience are not fans of historical and literary allusions for the most part.

Lots of real ‘Murkin buzzwords worked into something that actually makes a good deal of sense.

@bin Lurkin’: I am not going to fight with you about it. I agree with the principles expressed, but if I can pick out most of the source documents while drunk and playing with 80s music on YouTube, the writing is not original. It doesn’t allude to or cite historical documents; instead, it plunders them. YMMV.
