Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

T R E 4 5 O N

Books are my comfort food!

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

Donald Trump, welcome to your everything, everywhere, all at once.

Bogus polls are all they’ve got left. Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls a year from now.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

The frogs are rarely mistaken.

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

“And when the Committee says to “report your income,” that could mean anything!

President Biden is doing good where he can, and getting it done.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

When we show up, we win.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Pelosi: “He either is stupid, or he thinks the rest of us are.” Why not both?

Bark louder, little dog.

American History and Black History can not be separated.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

Joe Alleva made two great hires in his last two years as Duke’s AD: David Cutcliffe and John Danowski.

Danowski has been awesome, with five consecutive final fours and the program’s first national championship in 2010, but he was handed a program loaded with talent, and the NCAA ruling that gave every player on the 2006 roster an extra year of eligibility was a huge factor in Duke’s success from 2007-10.

Cutcliffe faced a much greater challenge, and has performed brilliantly. He has a program that was unimaginably bad when he arrived on the verge of being a factor in the ACC.

@Raven: Really? We’re talking about a guy who lost to Western Michigan, Indiana and Minnesota in the last three years despite having more talent than all three schools. If Juice Williams had received decent coaching during his career, I think he would have been a good college quarterback. Instead after a promising 2007 season he regressed in 2008 and 2009. With a competent coach and the same talent, I think they’d have had at least 1-2 games a year for the last couple of years.

@burnspbesq: BC is hosting the Grey Cup this year. Offhand I’m curious how many times in 99 years a finalist has gotten to play at home.

It’s a bit surprising that the officials have had to step between the two teams on the field, during warmups. Hey, whaddya think this is guys, hockey?

Also, they’ve had to actually bring in a spare set of first-down ‘chains’ after the regular ones were discovered broken. Note: This is not a metric-v.-English joke.

    November 27, 2011 at 6:42 pm

Vince started hot, but he’s off target lately. And what happened to his running? He used to be a threat, but he not running away from anyone today. Too many whoppers?

  56. 56.

    Mark B.

    November 27, 2011 at 6:55 pm

Plus the fact that the Iggles can’t stop the Pats at all. Unless Vince could lead his team to a TD on every possession, he wasn’t going to win it for them. The ’tissue paper’ defense isn’t working. Maybe they should try a brown paper bag. For their heads. For my money, Reid has to be one of the worst coaches and personnel managers ever. Tons of great skill players, but no line to speak of. He’s a master of doing less with more.
