Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

In my day, never was longer.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

An almost top 10,000 blog!

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Fear or fury? The choice is ours.

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

“When somebody takes the time to draw up a playbook, they’re gonna use it.”

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

Tick tock motherfuckers!

We still have time to mess this up!

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

My right to basic bodily autonomy is not on the table. that’s the new deal.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Trump should be leading, not lying.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Not all heroes wear capes.

How stupid are these people?

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

The desire to stay informed is directly at odds with the need to not be constantly enraged.

So apparently Herman Cain has been helping out his lady friend without his wife’s knowledge:

Herman Cain said Thursday that he repeatedly gave money without his wife’s knowledge to Ginger White, the Atlanta woman who alleged carrying on an affair with Cain for 13 years.

He’s just helpful that way.

BTW- the reason the GOP base will look the other way when a bunch of women come forward accusing Cain of harassment is because he didn’t admit it. He could just call them lying sluts, and since the GOP position is that all women can’t be trusted, especially when they team up with the media and Gloria Allred, that worked. But as soon as he admitted to an affair, the “all bitches be hoes” defense went out the window.

Nope. Like a wife with cancer, the GOP has dropped Cain and replaced him with Newt.

If you’re a Republican voter, sexual harassment is ok; it’s the consensual sex people have that’s a problem.

Today, I had the misfortune of hearing a clip of Dick Morris wheezily chuckling along with Hannity (I think it was) about how he couldn’t wait to see Ginger White’s playboy spread.

Also, too, the reason they could look away from the harassment accusations was that they don’t believe in sexual harassment. Also, coincidentally, Ginni Thomas’s recent drunk-dial of Anita Hill brought back all that resentment, they even had the ‘high-tech lynching’ bullshit at hand.

Did he admit to an affair? I thought the closest he’d come to that was his lawyer saying that it’s a private behavior and nobody’s business. As recently as a couple of days ago, Cain was sending out fundraising letters claiming White was a “disturbed individual,” which is basically the same as lying slut.

It’s possible that admitting that he had 4am texting conversations with White and gave her money is close enough for the base to give up on him, but as far as I know, he still hasn’t actually admitted it.

    Cole,

    You got it half wrong.

The reason the GOP base looked the other way when a bunch of women come forward accusing Cain of harassment is because they didn’t know they were white.

His ratings and fund raising held steady because the women were faceless.

In their minds, they thought he was just hitting on the “help”, like Clarance Thomas.

The minute they found out they were blonde and white, then his standing collapsed.

@Redshift: Cain is a pathetically bad liar. He’s all over the map with competing excuses and self-contradictions and absurdly implausible scenarios and childish dodges. So instead of assuming the mantle of the beleaguered Republican everyman beset by the wolves of liberalism, Cain has made himself a figure of ridicule.

Herman Cain was asked about how many of these matters are evidence of his infidelity.

    Herman: “None, none, none”.

OK, not very original, but certainly better than a joke with a punchline of “Nun, Nun, Nun”.

Yup, that’s what I had been saying all along. When they were faceless, they could assumed to be Anita Hill clones. Then it turned out that at least one of them was quite blonde and quite fair.

See… the real problem for Herman here is that this is just waaaaaaay too much like what a Dem would be caught doing…

Adult woman… consensual sex… even nice enough to kick her a few Benjamins from time to time… just to cover the OBVIOUS expenses mind you…

    They HAVE to condemn him…

Now… if this somehow involved, oh say… exchanging meth for gay sex… or rentboys… or underaged male pages… they could ALL relate…

And would come to Herman’s defense like the calvary in an old Errol Flynn movie…

W/ bugles a-blowin’ and long blond hair a-flappin’ in the breeze…

After we repeal the child labor laws. There’s no rush. The 5 day work week is largely gone anyway unless you’re in a union that’ll fight to enforce it.

Moral of the story: A bunch of women accusing you of sexual harassment can easily be explained away by blaming it on a liberal media, but phone records are too much for a campaign to overcome.

They should have tried to argue that phone records have a well-known liberal bias.

Yep, Cain’s story is that he:

    – knew Ms. White for 13 years

    – exchanges phone calls and emails with Ms. White as early as 426am on a regular basis, right up until September 2011

    – gave Ms. White money periodically

    – never told his wife about Ms. White

but there is nothing going on here, no sir. Seriously, that is his story.

Ginger White was on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show last night feeling pretty awful about her “friends with benefits” arrangement with Herman. She declined to say how much money he had given her over the years, which to me suggested that it was quite a lot, probably even enough to piss off Mrs. Cain now that she knows about Herman’s deep humanitarian concern for this particular single mother and her two kids. She was absolutely insistent that it was not a romantic relationship, just a sexual one that over the past couple of years had simmered down to dinner and lunch dates and exchanges of money. Ick. I’ma go hose off.

This is really not true. And at least in Southern California talk radio, some of the most vociferous attackers of the Cain accusers have been conservative women. It’s still pretty bad, but it’s more complicated than a bunch of Limbaugh’s calling women lying sluts.

Even so, people here are ignoring the plain fact that Cain’s support started evaporating as accusers came forward. Cain was still being propped up by conservative pundits, but actual voters were no longer buying it.

Also, to, Gloria Allred claimed that she had contemporary statements in hand where people swore that accusers told them about Cain’s bad behavior. Strangely, Allred never gave copies of this to reporters. She had nothing, although people later came forward.

Cain’s accusers are plausible. But anyone asserting that there is some known or admitted facts are making stuff up.

But as soon as he admitted to an affair, the “all bitches be hoes” defense went out the window.

Cain has never admitted to an affair.

His explanation sounds desperate and full of holes, especially the part where he admits that he didn’t tell his wife about his friend.

This stuff is the nail in the coffin. But even here, I heard a radio host (again a women), mention that Ginger White apparently had a restraining order taken out by someone (totally unconnected to Cain). Then, the female host and the main, male, host, concocted a “reasonable” fantasy where Ginger White was a crazed stalker who seduced Cain, and wore him down until the only thing he could do was have sex with her and give her money (AM 640 Bill Handel show, 5 am portion).
