Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

Fuck the extremist election deniers. What’s money for if not for keeping them out of office?

Innocent people don’t delay justice.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

I’m pretty sure there’s only one Jack Smith.

Battle won, war still ongoing.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

Let there be snark.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

White supremacy is terrorism.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Never forget that he train is barreling down on Trump, even as he dances on the tracks.

T R E 4 5 O N

I really should read my own blog.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

In short, I come down firmly on all sides of the issue.

Bogus polls are all they’ve got left. Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls a year from now.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

Israel is using food as a weapon of war. Unforgivable.

Republicans would impeach Biden if he bit into a whole Kit Kat rather than breaking the sections apart.

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

Its been a tough week and I need to whine. Since this would just be a burden to them if I did it to my family and friends I am going to unload here.

The whole taste thing has gone backwards. Food tastes bad, meat, bread and anything with dough makes me gag & is uneatable. I find I am having anger issues when I smell food I love but can’t eat. Cookies & Christmas is right out this year.

I still have no saliva. This makes me wake every hour or so all night long in desperate need of water. I have tried several products designed to help but they are not doing much.

Please feel free to ignore this, I just need to get it out someplace.

    Merrie Hollydays, BJ-ers!

If you like the Talking Heads video, be sure to check out the film of the same name by Paolo Sorrentino, with David Byrne and also featuring the Arcade Fire version of the song. And a really interesting story. Info:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Must_Be_the_Place_%28film%29

I can’t tell if it has opened (or will be opening?) in USA theaters, but in any case it’s worth seeing. As is Sorrentino’s Il Divo, btw.

Happy Holidays Tea Party and Ron Paul supporter style:

On Sunday, many Facebook users were greeted by the shocking spectacle of a California libertarian and Ron Paul supporter by the name of Jules Manson advocating for the assassination of President Barack Obama. Manson, a failed politician, recently ran for and lost a seat on the City of Carson’s City Council last March.

On a happier note, Senator Bernie Sanders introduces the Saving American Democracy Amendment:

one of the reasons I can’t whine at home is because people want to either make it better (you can’t) or go without themselves. We left my grandson’s birthday party last week because I couldn’t deal with the pizza smell & now the DIL has her nose out of joint.

I agree with everyone else: it’s not whining to mention that a course of medical treatment is tough. Plenty of times, that’s just how they go. At least there’s a sympathetic crowd here you can vent to. That always helps.

And I’m sure you’ve got a reward to yourself lined up for when you’ve finally completed the therapy and the side-effects have died down. I don’t know how much longer you’ll have to endure waiting for it, but there’s always that to look forward to.

Her doctor checked her sugar level and found it had gone through the roof. He says it’s a side effect of chemo. So now she is on diabetes pills and is feeling better. Her last session will thankfully be over next week.

@Schlemizel: I probably missed this but I don’t know exactly what your medical condition is. Can you speak to your doctor? Could he recommend a nutritionist?
I have cared for a loved one who was undergoing chemo and had issues with losing the sensation of taste. Any way so feel free to take my advice with a grain of salt. First of all, you should make an appointment with a nutritionist who will tell how much you need to eat and how you can get the calories even if your appetite is low. Make sure you are getting enough protein. An easy way to do this is drinking milk fortified with skim milk powder.

I just want everyone to make sure they understand this and remind them that Perry, Bachmann, Huntsman, and yes, even Rick Santorum are still in the race.

Yes, that’s right. You don’t need to read it again: Erick Erickson has decided that Perry, Bachmann, and Santorum are the proper electoral choice for SANE Republicans to pick as the party’s Presidential nominee.

Thanks, yeah I have been to the nutritionist and gotten a lot of advice. But other than “don’t eat things you can’t tolerate” there is not much positive from the appointments. I switched back to Ensure – which I believe would taste bad even if I had normal abilities – to make sure I am getting enough protein & calories.

That milk thing was one of the big ideas – take an 8 oz glass of WHOLE milk & mix in 1/2 cup powdered milk – theres a whole lotta calories in that!

@Schlemizel: I don’t know if you saw my reply to you the other day/week, but my mom went through that after her radiation treatments for mouth cancer. Even more than your taste & smell, I hope your saliva returns quickly. That was the worst part for my mom. I am SO sorry you are having to go through this.

No apologies, please. Who wouldn’t be angry? It’s awful, and no one should have to go through that. It’s just not fair. My parents raised us well, but i curse them sometimes for having led us to believe that life would be fair.

A couple of quick thoughts, worth exactly what you are paying for them!

My sister couldn’t taste anything for 3 or 4 years (unrelated to a medical condition) and then she started taking zinc and her taste buds came back to life.

My dad used to mix Ensure in with ice cream, he said it made the thick texture more tolerable.

Your daughter-in-law needs to get over herself. Everything is not about her, and if her child was disappointed that would have been a great opportunity to teach the kids to think about the other person. Count me as officially mad at your DIL. I can get over that quickly, if you like, or I can carry a grudge for a bit, whatever you prefer. :-)

    @WaterGirl:

WaterGirl, I did a reply to your reply to my reply to your reply about ADHD ages ago, so I don’t know if you saw my update that the other big nutritional thing they’re pushing is omega-3s. If your sister is a “not even fish” vegetarian and won’t take fish oil capsules, flaxseed oil is probably the best vegetarian source of omega-3s. You can buy it in a big bottle at Trader Joe’s and add it to food (but you can’t cook with it, because heating it destroys the omega-3s).

Short version: green tea, protein, and omega-3s are the current nutritional recommendations.

When I had pneumonia, I couldn’t eat bread, cookies or anything like it. I ate jello, those little puddings and later, yogurt. I did eat, boiled potato with onion powder, salt and pepper after I tossed it around in butter. I mixed it with hamburg with same exotic spices. For some reason, it tasted good.
I have no idea about the mouth dryness. I’d curse a lot.

@Mnemosyne: I remember that conversation, hanks for the tips. I had her taking flax seed oil capsules but she ditched it after while. As for the omega-3s, I tried to get those in the back door (fish – ick!) with the Vitamin D that is made from fish oil rather than from lamb’s oil. :-)

I would bet my house that there’s no way she would take the oil if it wasn’t in capsules. Maybe I will suggest the flax oil again. I think she couldn’t see any difference so decided to save the money, but I will check in with her again.

    @WaterGirl:

From what I’ve read, it takes about 4-6 weeks to see the good effects, so she may just have to stick with it. If she doesn’t like the capsules, she can mix a teaspoon or two of the liquid oil into oatmeal or yogurt. A quick Google led me to this article about vegetarians and omega-3s.

I’m trying to remember to take my omega-3 gummies every day, but they do have fish oil in them in addition to the flaxseed.
