Should have been “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting” but Noot wussed out.

It was great to hear Ron Paul lauding MLK tonight, after his newsletters called him a whitey-hating homosexual race-war-mongering communist plagiarizing womanizer.
Oh, and after Ron Paul voted AGAINST the MLK Holiday because we don’t have a “white people” holiday. Really.

I was waiting all night for Newt to rip Mitt a new one, but the best line of the night was Ron Paul saying “I was married and had two kids and I served.”
Otherwise, a complete bore, but luckily football and the Terminator were on, so I switched back and forth.

@Trentrunner:
We white folk did lose exclusive possession of President’s Day in January of 2009.
Yutsano
@Omnes Omnibus:
Not really. We get it in February.

@patroclus:
A soulless machine trying to destroy America. Might as well watch the republican debate.

@Omnes Omnibus: There is not, and has not been, a “Presidents day” holiday. It is Washington’s birthday.

Omnes Omnibus
@The prophet Nostradumbass: I was born in Illinois. We had Washington’s and Lincoln’s birthdays as holidays when I was a kid. Then I moved to Connecticut. The fuckers there pronounced the terminal “s”.

Changing the subject, Don Asmussen has to be my favorite topical cartoonist out there.

@Yutsano: You know very well what you did. Me perfectly good joke that contained a trenchant point about the historical and cultural significance of Obama’s election be spoiled now. Bastard.

I finished the first chapter of the next book, and it feels awesome! Now I go to bed.
Omnes Omnibus
@Frankensteinbeck: Good job. Sleep well.

My parents are not legally married. They found this out after 33 years. Apparently my mom’s name on her birth certificate and the one on her marriage license is different. Amazingly enough after knowing either one of them could annul it at the same time their marriage actually improved. Interesting, that.
That anecdote was just to show you your labeling is accurate. The rest you can just cuss me out for later.

Jodi Kantor’s book The Obamas has created quite a stir.
John posted a pretty optimistic review based on a NYTimes article.
For a different perspective, read this ,which is based on this.
Then go back to Zander”s polemic about POV (as it relates to PoC).
How one tells a narrative really matters, and that is a motherfucking pity most of the time.

Trying to revive a line of discussion that died out when I was sleeping, from Kay’s thread (being in a distant time zone I am inclined to do this),
Mclarin discussing the magical thinking and eschatological obsessions if the fundie and evangies… he is right that we can’t counter this with the logic and evidence-based arguments that lefties tend to use amongst ourselves. We do need to argue along their terms and within their world view.
The religious right is not afraid of wrecking the country in the course of trying to save it. So telling them that they are being foolish is not going to gain anything. But they are afraid of Hell – specifically, for going to hell for taking the wrong religious/political positions.
Thus, the point that needs to be made over and over again is that anyone who votes for a candidate who can reasonably be suspected of being the antichrist should be dreading their upcoming interview with Saint Peter. Voting for Romney could buy them a one-way ticket on the dreadful elevator of doom. Considering that the two nominees for 2012 both look like possible antichrists then the safest thing to do, naturally, is to stay home on election day and pray for divine intervention.
Take the ballot box, Jesus!

Romney is at 37% in South Carolina, meaning: the 2012 primary season is over.
Smart liberal commentators will forego discussion of any candidate but Romney from here on out unless the attacks on others can be made to rub off on Romney, or unless the commentator is repeating an attack on Romney by another candidate.
