We’ll be doing another book club tomorrow with Corey Robin, right here at 8 pm on Sunday. Try to read chapters 2 and 3 of “’The Reactionary Mind” if you get a chance, but you can also ask questions about other parts of the book of course.

A number of people found the discussion last time quite stimulating. It motivated a few to bestir themselves and actually get the book. Hopefully these folks will join the discussion tomorrow.
I just finished Chapter 3. A whole chapter devoted to Rand? Wow. Hmmph.

I’m still on the waiting list at the local library for this one.
Hoping to be joining y’all soon instead of just lurking and wishing I knew what was being discussed directly.

@Linda Featheringill: Alan Greenspan was chairman of the Fed for almost thirty years. I would expect at least a chapter.

@Villago Delenda Est:
To get my copy of the book, I downloaded the free Amazon Kindle for PC and then purchased the Kindle version of the book for 10.00. Instant gratification!

@MikeJ:
Well, there is the Alan Greenspan thing. [That guy is really a gnome.]
Farrah Fawcett?

Cool!
For those who are still waiting on a copy of the book (well worth it), Chapter 2 is on Thomas Hobbes and Chapter 3 is on Ayn Rand.

OT,
But wow…Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” has gone up from #68 downloaded song yesterday to #37 today and on YouTube when you search for Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” it’s the #1 result with over 8,000,000 hits and #2 is of course Obama singing that segment of the song! The Al Green song video’s first 15 pages are almost all referencing Obama.
Wow. So I’m not sure what that says for Obama’s popularity and his ability to still capture the attention of people, I don’t know.
But superficially, this has got to make him at the very least the hippest President ever.
