Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

Lick the third rail, it tastes like chocolate!

We will not go back.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. keep building.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

All right, let’s do it: Walker’s (TriBeca) on Sunday at 3. I’m more of an Upper West Side G, but Walker’s worked so well last time I don’t want to chance it somewhere else.

Can someone call and reserve room in the back for 20? I’m not good at that kind of thing.

Update. Walker’s says they can’t take a big crowd at that time. Other suggestions? Any place in Manhattan that’s subway accessible and will let us reserve room for 20-25 is fine by me.

OT, but Washington is about to legalize same-sex marriage and the great thing is that it is barely newsworthy.

@Baud: Give them a few hours, they’re still working out how it’ll result in aborted black babies and the church hiring female priests.

This sucks. New York has now had two BJ meets and I can’t get anyone to do one here in the general vicinity of the actual blog owner. Well, except for Kay. Come on Pittsburgh Juicers!

Damn, I can’t make it. I’ll be at the Grammys on the Left Hand Coast. I love Walkers. Make merry, one and all.

I just called Walker’s and they can’t accommodate us on Sunday. They have a previous booking for 25 people at 6 p.m. and don’t feel they can host two large groups so close together time-wise.

The floor is open for other suggestions.

If we want 3PM, there should be tons of choices. Are we UWS for sure? I don’t hang out there, but near AMNH or Columbia there must really great places.

Somewhere subway convenient. So downtown or west side not too far up.

Sunday at 3 is still brunchy time, but I have a couple of suggestions:

    Druids at 50th and Tenth
    McCann’s 55th between Bway and 8th
    Half King 23rd & 10th

I can check tomorrow on whether they can accomodate

    McCann’s sounds suitably subway convenient.
