Word ’round the campfire is that the intended spot for the next BJ get-together may be too crowded, so we’ll try this place instead: McGee (240 West 55 Street Between Broadway and 8th Avenues).
I’ll try calling tomorrow to make sure they can get some space for 20-30 people.
Hope to see you there, Sunday at 3.

/checks the KC Metro maps…
Where is this place close to again?

@Punchy:
Ask Sully.
J. Michael Neal
Have you warned the establishment’s proprietor to read the blog to make sure he wants 20-30 of us in his place?
Ron
I still await the Rochester area meetup.
Odie Hugh Manatee
I wish I could join you but I have a whole country to cross to do so.
OT: I heard on Mr. Ed that one of the topics at CPAC was “The Failure of Multiculturalism”. WTF?! Are they saying that our country is a failure? Our nation is about as multicultural as one can get since people have come from all over the world to live here. I get it that these assholes are saying that “white” culture is the winner and it’s all those other nasty “colored” cultures that are dragging the white man down, no problem understanding that. But the problem with their argument is that there is no “white” culture anywhere in the world that includes every kind of white person there is. The only way you could agree that multiculturalism has failed in this country is if you believe that your white culture is ‘The One’. You know that if everyone in the world was white that these assholes would be making the same argument about the failure of multiculturalism but then it would be against the Irish or other nationality.
A white nationality, one they currently embrace out of convenience. Conservatives thrive and profit by stoking the fires of intolerance and hate of anyone they deem evil. Color matters to them and if they didn’t have that then they would create another metric to measure people with.
Hate is all they have left and intolerance feeds that hate.

@Ron:
Let’s do it this summer.
Ron
@DougJarvus Green-Ellis: Summer is good. I’m not sure how many of us there are in the general Rochester area.

BJ get together sounds intriguing. Shall I bring a raincoat?

@Redleg:
Only if you want to upset the bishops.
Michael Demmons
We need an Atlanta meetup

@Michael Demmons:
I think an open thread just to poll the interest in meetups where ever might be a good idea, some floated the idea of one around me in last night thread & I seconded but most people are skipping the thread as not relevant to themselves
bobber
Can I come too? :(
Joshua James
I think you mean between Broadway and Seventh Ave, don’t you (Bway and 7th are next to each other, 7th and 8th follow) … not sure if I can make it tomorrow, but definitely want to and will try … if not this time, next time!

FYI this is the bar that the TV show “How I Met Your Mother” is based off of.

IMO, Zandar or Kay needs to honcho a BJ meetup in the Cinn/Louisville area.

It’s a date.

You all are missing out. The selection of beers is out of this world at The Ginger Man.

McGee’s is a good place, with an interesting back story. They used to be in the Ed Sullivan Theater, right next to the Main Entrace. Then when David Letterman took the place over, CBS had it evicted for a faux-Irish pub joint called “Sullvans”! Thankfully, that place failed and McGee’s has thrived in its new (as of 1996) location. Haven’t commented here much in years, but am happy that BJ’ers are giving business to a worthy establishment.

I’ll try to stop by.
