Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

It’s 2 AM On A Sunday Night. Do You Know Where Your Pets Are?

I made the mistake of having coffee with dinner again, so I’m watching reruns on the food network. The beasts don’t care, though:

Worthless beasts.

I do love that “knowing” glance from Rosie, though. We’ve really been having a lot of breakthroughs the last couple months, and she is starting to be a really sweet companion. I knew it would just take time for me to charm her into submission.

By the way, I was born in 1970, and one of my fondest memories is my mother singing Dream a Little Dream of Me when I was a kid. For some reason, I also remember my dad spending hours rubbing my belly, trying to get me to go to sleep. Regardless, go listen to some Mama Cass and then listen to Adele. I think it is kind of freakish. Almost as scary as the fact that I hear my mother every time my sister Devon is on the phone.

Ah, yes, I know where my pets are, sadly. Like Dorothy Parker, they’re in an urn in a file cabinet until we decide what we’re going to do.

On a happier note, our mutt had a face just like Lily’s. Although she was an escape artist extraordinaire, she always won us back over with that look.

And with the ladylike crossed front paws when she was lying down.

Sheesh it’s late. I put in a 10 hour day today and I have to get up in 3 3/4 hours and do it again tomorrow. And here I am reading blogs.

About 9PM Monday night here in NZ!

I’ll do a hard sudoku puzzle before sleeping tonight.
    No TV, or computers.

This helps me clear my mind and I zonk out.
Mind you I’m awake again at 4:30am

    Have a great night!

Well, Archie the Magnificent, the Charcoal tabby, is dozing on his accustomed stack of pillow on my bed, waiting for me to shut off the computer and come snorggle with him. Edith, the sleek black ballet dancer of a cat, is at the foot of my bed, chirping occasionally for me to come to bed, as well.

Tunch looks majestically sorrowfull. Also, he looks LARGE. I can’t tell from the pix, but does he have pale-orange front toes, as well as the charming pale orange ear splotches?

You know, I’ve been reading the blog for 5 years – but I never heard exactly how you acquired Tunch – he must have been an ADORABLE kitten.

So, so glad to hear that Rosie is working her JRT magic on you. I had high hopes that eventually you would come around.

    Her alt-text is perfect!

I too was unable to sleep last night, but instead of getting up, I just flopped around in bed from about 12:30 until 4:00…..much suckitude here, I have to go to freaking Dallas this afternoon for an insanely stupid meeting tomorrow. All day, Valentine’s day to boot, won’t be getting home till probably 8 PM depending on my flight.

Those kinds of meetings are an admission by management that they don’t have a clue how to manage.

@Omnes Omnibus: Well, even though i wasn’t into her stuff, her music certainly was a backdrop to my younger years – i’d never heard of this Adele chick until this past year. Anyway, I don’t watch the Grammy’s – music ain’t what it used to be – yeh, get off my lawn, Adele!

    February 13, 2012 at 8:13 am

@JPL: i’m half kidding, she (Adele) does have a good voice, i just don’t listen to new stuff anymore, i just feel like i have to wade through so much crap to find a gem here and there, i discovered this after 2000 or so (is there some correlation with the bush presidency? hmm) just gave up, too much work, there is enough good old music to last me the rest of my lifetime anyway, just me, i’m weird that way. i really find most music today to be predictable and boring. and don’t even get me started on what is still considered “country” music somehow.

but, Bush years were horrible years for me personally – i really did take it all very personally and it was deeply painful to watch the waste of blood and treasure, i used to cry about the dead bodies, on both sides. well i guess it’s “waste” depending on whether you benefit. i also became very disgusted and disillusioned with the Dems. That, too, was painful. i felt somewhat betrayed. but then, i guess i had not been paying enough attention until then, when the impending war that i knew was blatantly unjustified, grabbed me by the collar and shook me awake.

We had a cold snap last night (got down to 40), so I had my Polartec fleece blanket on my bed. Even though the heat was set at 66, I had four cats absolutely glued to me all night. I really do think they can alter the local gravitational constant. True, it was 60 pounds of cat, but I shouldn’t have had to grip the window sill and pull myself out of bed this morning…

But with all the tidal wave of crap on today’s top 40 (not that it was any less crappy when I was younger), Adele stands out. She really does have a great voice and writes her own stuff too. Longtime lurker 1st time poster. I’ve been humming “Dream a Little Dream” now for about an hour. I think my 7.5 month old son Lucca will appreciate a new (to him) song in my repertoire – though I have been singing “Close to You” by Karen Carpenter since he was born and have it down solid. I think my cat Max will appreciate it too. I was born in ’72 and grew up listening to all that good stuff. Anyhow, I enjoy your late night posts while I am up in the wee hours tending to the sleep usurper…
