An update on Sanders from commentor Johannes:
Just wanted to update you on Sanders. I heard from Catherine’s colleague at the cat colony that she met with Christine, and that she and her significant other are “a WONDERFUL couple,” and that Sanders will be going to his new home this Saturday.

Thank you and all the Juicers who wrote in; have I mentioned that I. Love. This . Blog? Because I do.
And if, like me, you can’t watch the Westminster Dog Show on cable, NYMag’s Daily Intel has a great slideshow to go awwwwwww over…

Dunno if I’ll follow the link…my mom got an unspeakably cute valentine from my cousin today, featuring a puppeh, and the cat is doing her perfect princess routine (which is interrupted by her Tasmanian she-devil episodes a few times a day) and being all awwwwwww enough for me now.

I got the most wonderful doggy on the planet. That is all.

Very glad to hear the good news about Sanders! He’s a beauty, and sounds like a sweet little guy. Hope his new life is as awesome as his previous one was dire.
My neutered male kitty, Oscar, is at war with another neutered male who lives in our townhouse community. We have a lot of lovely landscaping, there’s a wild greenbelt right next door, and the road is far away on the other side of the parking lot: just a wonderful pocket-paradise for kitties.
The other guy’s name is Liam, and he’s a really gorgeous, really huge B&W longish-hair. (Oscar is a slightly smaller, Siamese-colored, medium hair.) The two of them hate each other, which is so sad because they’re both awesome cats. I want to be nice to Liam but I also don’t want him hanging out in our part of the complex because this is – should be – Oscar’s territory. Then again, I have heard from the other people living here that Oscar has been known to lay down the law with other kitties (we have a LOT of cats here), so maybe turnabout is fair play.

That’s awesome kitteh news.
Yesterday, I linked to some sunbathing kittehs.
Today, it’s Sweetpea’s turn in the sun.

In re: Westminster: Wow, I didn’t know Marvin the Martian had a giant pet caterpillar. What is that thing?
ruemara
Hurrah for happy pet news. On the other hand, sometimes the happiness is just to lull you into a false sense of security. Happy V day

Speaking as the “significant other” in question, Christine and I will try and post pix of the little guy next week.
GeoX
Aw man, imagine how adorable he’d be if you put a little eyepatch on him.

@Chasm: Congrats to the new parents! I’m so glad the little mite has found a wonderful home.
clayton
@ruemara: yummy pics!
Allen
@GeoX: Couldn’t agree more. Now for the telling question, who is going to put the eye patch on?
Mnemosyne
@ruemara:
NOM!

@ruemara: You’re channeling your inner Gordon Schumway there. :)

@Chasm: If you email them to me (click on my name, near the top of the right-hand column) I can front-page them…

@ruemara: Your whole photostream is just great, but that picture is both hilarious and wonderful :)
WereBear
@Chasm: Bless you both. He looks like nummy little bit o’ catness. May you all be very happy.

@Anne Laurie: wallah, are you this stupid?
relly?
i fuckin’ hate the AKC.
they have ruined all the working dog breeds and they allow inbreeding.
father daughter matings are registerable.
the AKC and the BKC are why there are puppy mills.

In more happy animal news, McDonalds announced this week that they will no longer allow their pork suppliers to use gestation crates – a.k.a. living coffins – for breeding sows. Where they go, the rest of the industry will follow.

Pigs are every bit as smart and playful as dogs – or smarter. I volunteer at a livestock sanctuary and there’s a little pig that runs around the barn at top speed getting in everyone’s business. When he’s sent into his stall for a nap, he cuddles with squeaky dog toys.

@GeoX: I saw this commercial recently & I don’t know if you want to have him wear an eyepatch. Could wind up in a ditch…

@Hillary Rettig: Pigs are alot smarter than dogs.

@Paul in KY: Not *my* dog. ;-)

Awesome news. Little guy made me wish I hadn’t moved from Queens to Seattle a couple of years ago. I was getting ready to ask a bunch of my cat lovin’ friends in the Rotten Apple if they wanted another when I made it to this post.
Johannes
@Chasm: Delighted to know Sanders is in good hands, didn’t have enough info to make a more specific reference as I’ve only had intermittent email updates. Sorry if I sounded clinical.
Warmest regards,

@Hillary Rettig: Silly me!
