Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

The snowflake in chief appeared visibly frustrated when questioned by a reporter about egg prices.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

If a good thing happens for a bad reason, it’s still a good thing.

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

I have other things to bitch about but those will have to wait.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

The lights are all blinking red.

I’m headed to work, but I thought I’d just throw this up there for you all:

The Daily Show has the tape of Sean Hanity’s early days.

Intro

Main Story

Martin Sheen would like the emoprogs to chill the fuck out.

The Army has identified 285 Soldiers who had their PTSD diagnoses wrongfully reversed by a forensic psychiatry team at Madigan Army Medical Center.

Google’s Android OS and Apples iOS gain market share against RIM Blackberry

And Charlie Pierce does his usual graceful and complete evisceration act, this time against Rush Limbaugh.

An I wrong in thinking that while conservatives, even the ones in power, look longingly rightward for inspiration, liberals are the opposite? The ones in power look to the left with disdain. Liberals think that they are far left as anyone should reasonably be, and anyone leftier is a dangerous freak or unrealistic dreamer while conservatives worries that they are not quite as worthy and uncompromisingly hard-line as anyone to their right.

They wanted to kill the _debt ceiling_ for being insufficiently conservative. They wanted to kill the Republican-inspired ACA for being insufficiently conservative. On both wings, that’s too simple of an analysis to rise to the level of something that can be judged as right or wrong. @Guster: conservatives [..] look longingly rightward for inspiration, liberals [..] look to the left with disdain.

I would observe the same phenomenon, but attribute it differently. Liberals tend to play to the pragmatic center, because they perceive that’s how they get public support and win elections. Conservatives tend to play to the rabid, frothing, teapartier extreme right, because they perceive that’s how they get public support and win elections.

Historically, both views have been correct, although there are signs that it might be starting to backfire on the right.

So, the equivalent of emoprogs are actually MODERATE Republicans.

The amazing thing about Palin’s bullshit is that she actually admitted the civil war was at least in part about slavery. I thought that was a big no no for conservatives. States rights only when discussing the civil war.

Slog has a transcript. I’m really surprised Palin hasn’t worked with a public speaking coach though. She’s still as incoherent as hell.

He is bringing us back, Sean, to days—you can hearken back to the days before the Civil War when, unfortunately, too many Americans mistakenly believed that not all men were created equal. And it was the Civil War that began the codification of the truth that here in America, yes we are equal and we all have equal opportunities not based on the color of your skin. You have equal opportunity to work hard and to succeed and to embrace the opportunities, God given opportunities, to develop resources and work extremely hard and, as I say, to succeed.

Our neighborhood is overrun with ravenous deer, eating everyone’s gardens, attacking peoples’ pets, spreading Lyme disease (indirectly), causing car accidents and ruining the fragile ecosystem for all the other wildlife by devouring the forest understory. The local government has debated for decades how to remedy this. They tried an ineffectual birth control regimen for the deer and now, years after the community voted to allow the herd to be culled, not a single deer has been dispatched because of the antics and legal hurdles imposed by non-resident vegans. Herons…that’s going to be tough!

“Abortion should be free to everyone, if you have free abortions you don’t need free contraception. If you have free abortions you can mandate who can and who cannot have babies. If you have free abortions you can perform sterilizations at the same time. If you have free abortions you can wipe out any segment of the population in one generation. You can then create a liberal utopia.”

JPL, I can’t help with killing herons, but we have a kind of metal heron statue that is supposed to keep them from fishing. As I understand it, herons are territorial and won’t poach in one another’s reserve. We sometimes see them loitering about, but the statue does seem to prevent fish theft.

Well, it prevents fish theft by herons. The greedy mother raccoon who uses our pond as the lab for the Intro to Fishing he teaches her babies every year doesn’t give much of a damn about the statue.
