I’m headed to work, but I thought I’d just throw this up there for you all:
The Daily Show has the tape of Sean Hanity’s early days.
Martin Sheen would like the emoprogs to chill the fuck out.
The Army has identified 285 Soldiers who had their PTSD diagnoses wrongfully reversed by a forensic psychiatry team at Madigan Army Medical Center.
Google’s Android OS and Apples iOS gain market share against RIM Blackberry
And Charlie Pierce does his usual graceful and complete evisceration act, this time against Rush Limbaugh.
An I wrong in thinking that while conservatives, even the ones in power, look longingly rightward for inspiration, liberals are the opposite? The ones in power look to the left with disdain. Liberals think that they are far left as anyone should reasonably be, and anyone leftier is a dangerous freak or unrealistic dreamer while conservatives worries that they are not quite as worthy and uncompromisingly hard-line as anyone to their right.
What’s the rightwing equivalent of ’emoprogs?’
RIM/Blackberry suck ass. I will never buy that garbage ever again.
Is there a link on how to kill herons that are feasting in my pond?
General Stuck (Bravo Nope Zero)
Suck on it wingnuts. Maybe you all should let these guys run for president, republican dumber and dumberer
@Yevgraf: It really is fascinating to watch how blackberry has melted down in the face of other smartphones.
Edit: “Martin Sheen would like the emoprogs to chill the fuck out.” Bartlett is worse than Bush! he sold us out!
Dunno, what’s the right-wing equivalent of (alleged) progressives demanding that we “kill the bill”?
@Chyron HR: Congressman
@JPL: Why? Most would consider that a plus.
@WereBear: Well you know who doesn’t appreciate it..the missing koi..
I purchased little goldfish and one 4 dollar koi..Darn thing grew to a foot before he got sucked up..
@Chyron HR: Are you saying that emoprogs demand we kill legislation that they think is insufficiently progressives but that emocons don’t do the same on their side?
They wanted to kill the _debt ceiling_ for being insufficiently conservative. They wanted to kill the Republican-inspired ACA for being insufficiently conservative. They want to kill the Departments of Education and the Interior and Oops for being insufficiently conservative. They opposed Perry for being insufficiently conservative. They opposed Jean Schmidt for being insufficiently conservative.
I think I’m missing your point.
@JPL: Mrs J hurried in one day exclaiming, “A snake in the goldfish pond has a fish in his mouth and it’s freaking out!” I told her that I’d be freaking out, too.
my bf still has a Blackberry – i simply cannot manage or barely see those little buttons! i have to get him to dial the numbers for me.
since this is an open thread, i was looking a vids last nite and came across this, which sort of expresses how i feel about the GOP and the right.
also, i watched it about a half dozen more times or so because apparently i had forgotten why i had such a ginormous crush on Chuck Negron as a kid. GINORMOUS.
@jeffreyw: My ex use to explain that it’s nature when hawks would take baby squirrels. I explained they could do their nature crap someplace besides my back yard. I think the ex is a closet republican.
Charlie Pierce. But seeing Charles Peirce’s view of Limbaugh would be a hoot. Max Weber’s too.
The Very Reverend Battleaxe of Knowledge
I was going to suggest a plastic Heron but according to this article they don’t work.
Last night, Cheater and the Rude Pundit celebrated their first anniversary as a same sex couple on prn.fm radio and yours truly made a surprise appearance about halfway into the show.
“Charlie Peirce” conveys greetings to Soonergrunt and respectfully requests he bear in mind the rule “I before E except after C.”
Nice rant by a commenter on that Pierce post.
Paul in KY
@JPL: A .223 rifle will work just fine.
thing i like about Chuck, too, he was completely honest about being a total slut! (among other things!) back in the day.
ok, back to our regularly scheduled programming
@JPL: a hawk almost got my mom’s chi when he was a pup! i think the only thing that saved him was the bushes
Mmmm, Soylent Pink in school lunches. And CBN (!?!?!) reports the person responsible is JoAnn Smith who then bolts to the board of the company who manufactures this. I’m very surprised to find that they neglected to report she was a Bush appointee, however.
The Snarxist Formerly Known as Kryptik
@Comrade Javamanphil: heard about Mickey D dropping the pink slime and was just so glad i’ve always had the good sense to not eat there (not to mention a complete lack of desire to do so) with the exception of the very occasional egg mcmuffin and then, only in desperate circumstances
I’m going to add to the Rush Limbaugh pile on (LOL): Washington Post reported yesterday that after losing dozens of ad sponsorships, the Rush Limbaugh show is now picking up a couple… from Ashley Madison (an adultery website) and another site that is geared towards landing Sugar Daddies.
I can’t wait to see the rightwinger audience reaction to THAT business move. :P
@(another) Josh: @SiubhanDuinne: Thanks for the spell check. People are always screwing up my real last name and it’s still occasionally annoying. I should be more careful to not do that to others.
@Rome Again: Well, then he joins MSNBC on SiriusXM. Ashley Madison commercials air on there a lot. Catchy jingle, in that 1990s C/W “I’m just a hard workin’ man fuckin’ around on my wife” kind of way.
@Soonergrunt: Apparently I need to turn up my sarcasm level because this is day two where I have been taken seriously when I wasn’t trying to be.
@Comrade Javamanphil: I’ve only had one cup of coffee yet, so it’s probably me.
Shall I check UrbanDictionary to figure out the meaning of this?
@Guster: conservatives [..] look longingly rightward for inspiration, liberals [..] look to the left with disdain.
I would observe the same phenomenon, but attribute it differently. Liberals tend to play to the pragmatic center, because they perceive that’s how they get public support and win elections. Conservatives tend to play to the rabid, frothing, teapartier extreme right, because they perceive that’s how they get public support and win elections.
Historically, both views have been correct, although there are signs that it might be starting to backfire on the right.
So, the equivalent of emoprogs are actually MODERATE Republicans.
If Democrats were moral absolutists, that would be an important factor. They aren’t and it isn’t. Democrats don’t go around telling others who should marry whom, how many children to have or not have, when someone can do the horizontal bop or not and with whom.
Funny that you would equate them though.
@Soonergrunt: Nah, it’s me. I should have gone with “shocked” instead of “very surprised”. Oh well. I’ll live to snark another day.
@Punchy: Let me help you with that.
That daily show segment was really blah.
@Rome Again: Where do you get the idea that I equated them in any way, other than mentioning that AM’s ads run on MSNBC?
Don’t say moronic things, and people will not think you are a moron.
Sarah Palin, still a moron:
Palin Says Obama Wants To Return To Racial Discrimination ‘That Took Place Before The Civil War’
@Rome Again: His audience will profess shock in public and then log on to those sites once they get home.
@Guster: And conservatives with that attitude sure have done wonders for the long term health of the GOP and the country as a whole, haven’t they?
Giant mutant pirana?
Or else maybe a wire grill.
The amazing thing about Palin’s bullshit is that she actually admitted the civil war was at least in part about slavery. I thought that was a big no no for conservatives. States rights only when discussing the civil war.
Slog has a transcript. I’m really surprised Palin hasn’t worked with a public speaking coach though. She’s still as incoherent as hell.
@RP: It started off well but then just kind of petered out. I do like the evisceration of Hannity because, really, who the **** else is doing that?
Nice little perspective piece, from a smaller market, regarding a certain execrable bloviator on the AM dial:
Limbaugh, lord of louts
@Hal: Holy crap.
@JPL: Lotsa luck dealing with that! Our neighborhood is overrun with ravenous deer, eating everyone’s gardens, attacking peoples’ pets, spreading Lyme disease (indirectly), causing car accidents and ruining the fragile ecosystem for all the other wildlife by devouring the forest understory. The local government has debated for decades how to remedy this. They tried an ineffectual birth control regimen for the deer and now, years after the community voted to allow the herd to be culled, not a single deer has been dispatched because of the antics and legal hurdles imposed by non-resident vegans. Herons…that’s going to be tough!
Yes, I said as much on my Facebook post last night. :P
Just read this incredibly stupid comment in a thread elsewhere….
Talk about the coupling of imbecility and paranoia!
JPL, I can’t help with killing herons, but we have a kind of metal heron statue that is supposed to keep them from fishing. As I understand it, herons are territorial and won’t poach in one another’s reserve. We sometimes see them loitering about, but the statue does seem to prevent fish theft.
Well, it prevents fish theft by herons. The greedy mother raccoon who uses our pond as the lab for the Intro to Fishing he teaches her babies every year doesn’t give much of a damn about the statue.
@NotMax: Thanks for the great link!
You know … we all know that Limbaugh got busted for carrying mislabeled Niagra w/a V into the Dominican Republic. We also know most insurance plans cover medications for that kind of dysfunction.
Does that mean we’re paying for Rush Limbaugh to have sex? Let me be the first to say: Please, please don’t put those tapes online! OH GOD NO I JUST GOT THE MENTAL IMAGE! ARRRGGHHGGG….!
@harlana: I eat scrapple and even I won’t go near a McDonald’s.
That’s deep, man!
Love me some scrapple. I grew up on that stuff. Yummy!
Free Republic by any chance?
@Hal: SP reminds me of school days when the teacher would give a 500 word composition assignment on a subject you hadn’t studied at all. Repetition, lots of ‘thes, ands, & alsos’, and dead-end thought prose helped fill the page. FOX gave her a 99 word assignment, obviously.
She was just waging another semi-creative attack on affirmative action.
Tone In DC
Ain’t enough brain bleach in TEH WORLD.
Jon Stewart laughs now but just wait until the truth seekers discover the startling fact that Derrick Bell once wrote the words “white supremacy” despite Soledad O’Brien’s unstated claim that Derrick Bell never ever ever said or thought anything at all about white supremacy in his whole entire life! Who will be laughing then, Mr. Stewart?
@Rome Again: No, embarrassingly enough it was on Huff-Po
“emoprogs” is a good thing to write if you want to lose in November
Complaining about the left, from the center-left, is an even better thing to do if you want to lose in November
Again: left criticism of Obama can only help Obama in the general
Look, if you think the President is sitting pretty, just chill the fuck out when people on the left help drive the President to the left
Everybody wins except the Right when that happens
Oh, that place is so overrun with trolls that I refuse to post there.
Those artiodactylan sluts have made you pay for their birth control so they can have unlimited, casual, bestial sex?
Man, that Obambi is really wrecking the country!
Martin sheen SAID WHAT!!!!!!
HOW DARE HE!!!
THAT’S IT — I’M VOTING FOR RON PAUL!!!
Ah, the unseemly cavorting of the “rats with hooves”, all paid for by the unlucky tax payers. When not fornicating in the bushes, they’re ungulating (see urban dictionary) on my foundation plantings.
