Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

“A king is only a king if we bow down.” – Rev. William Barber

This chaos was totally avoidable.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

If a good thing happens for a bad reason, it’s still a good thing.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

The real work of an opposition party is to hold the people in power accountable.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

“Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.”

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

’Where will you hide, Roberts, the laws all being flat?’

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

It looks like our twenty other bloggers got raptured by the Spaghetti Monster. If you’re still around, enjoy this pic of Max’s friend Duncan.

does anyone know how to keep my browser from redirecting the Balloon Juice site to the mobile site? it happens about 30% of the time for the main page and is up to about 80% whenever I go to the comments section. started about 2 weeks ago and has been getting progressively worse.

Just wanted to add another data point to the ongoing series, “Shit costs more and there’s less of it inside than there used to be.”
So, sometimes I buy the snack size candy bars like Twix or Kit Kat, etc. The “fun size”. They used to be 8 to a pack, regular price I think $1.19 and I’d catch them on sale for a $1.00 even and buy a couple.
At some recent point they changed the pack to be only 6 and raised the regular price to $1.39.
Now, no one needs a candy bar. But they are handy for a treat and individually wrapped so they stay fresh for a while.
Just another kvetch that shit costs more and they’re selling us less of it.

@arem1s: I have seen a lot of that too, but progressively less. I had hoped it is being fixed.

The solution of course, is to excise the “www.” in the url.

Commenting seems to help also. On some occasions I have tried to comment and gotten 403 errors instead.

Great snap! I also live in Pittsburgh, and usually think, without being able to put my finger on it, that I can recognize the spot. Once again, I can’t quit place it.

@Corner Stone: I bought GS cookies this year for the first time in many years, and was surprised at the wee cookies. I was forced to eat many instead of a few, it was terrible.

    @muddy:

Maybe you can take the small cookies from GS and bundle them into derivatives to exchange for larger cookies if the small cookies fail.

    Wait, what?
