This is just getting out of hand:
Personally I’d like to make a law that mandates a woman watch an abortion being performed prior to having a “surgical procedure”. If it’s not a life it shouldn’t matter, if it doesn’t harm a woman then she shouldn’t care, and don’t we want more transparency and education in the medical profession anyway? We demand it everywhere else.
Until the dead child can tell me that she/he does not feel any pain – I have no intentions of clearing the conscience of the living – I will be voting YES.”
So now we’re traumatizing women just for shits and giggles? Is that it? These people want every woman to be as traumatized as Carolyn Jones was when Texas forced her to undergo an unnecessary ultrasound? What is wrong with these people?
By the way, the quotes de sarcasm are a nice touch, Terri.
I can’t even.

And no cheeseburgers without seeing quintuple bypass surgery first, and you can only opt out of motorcycle helmet-wearing if you’ve washed brains off the highway, and you can’t become a Republican without observing the post-mortem excision and removal of a tiny dessicated human heart.
I can’t even either.

Hell, in Idaho, they’re questioning whether rape victims who want abortions were actually raped.

Thank God no one asked me to view a vasectomy before I had my surgical procedure.

This post is posted at 9:04, the next one at 9:06. Is there absolutely no coordination between the FPers here? At least space things out a little bit. Give people a chance to catch up.

I think every legislator voting for these bills should have to spend a week in Planned Parenthood listening to these women’s stories of deformed fetuses and how miserable it is to have to prolong the process.
scav
Anyone buying a gun has to see actual gunshot wounds to critical body parts, and [repeat] anyone voting for a death sentence has to go hug the accused and feel his beating heart. Voters against food stamps have to remove the full plate from in front of a hungry child. I’m sure there are more.
Southern Beale
Let’s just have everyone watch a video of EVERY surgical procedure before having. Open heart surgery. Root canal. Arthroscopy. I mean seriously, if women have to be traumatized for shits and giggles so should everyone else.
Where the FUCK is the medical profession in all this? Why aren’t doctors and hospitals standing up and saying ENOUGH ALREADY?
Daaling
…I wonder when ABL Vista Home Edition will realize that the comments the nuts are making are specifically designed to get a rise out of her. Probably never if she hasn’t already. She takes the bait every single time. The stupid it burns.

If you can’t be motivated to vote in November after the ongoing parade of misogyny that is the modern GOP…enjoy your new life.
Wait. This post is fiction, right? Post-acopalypse for women?

@scav: I’m remembering more. Full color diseased liver shots on all bottles of Alcohol, same but of lungs on cigarettes, mangled bodies of people blown up by bombs shown at all ROTS and military events.

How about no boner pills for men unless they are made to watch videos of childbirth, both vaginal and Cesarean deliveries (Can someone please design a device that simulates the pain of childbirth for these people?). Also, no hunting or fishing licences until someone knows what it feels like to be shot or be stuck with a fishhook.

Well, just so long as we keep any Doonesbury strips about the topic out of the comic section of the local but ever financially insolvent newspaper, I guess this is just fine.

The short answer is a lot. But if you believe in Karma, especially the kind that is obvious as the nose on your face, the wingnuts noodling this depravity will get theirs from the voters. I actually take out comings like this as a breath of fresh air, from all the sneaky shit they usually night crawl around doing. Better to see the skunk in the light of day, than in the dark.

@Southern Beale: I imagine watching laser eye surgery would make a lot of people freak out. Why not show that in the DMV waiting room, you know, just for fun.
The only thing I can think of is that the Republican party was deeply moved by watching that video that showed people’s reaction to watching “Two Girls and a Cup.” The solution to this is to force anyone planning to vote Republican to watch “Two Girls and a Cup of Santorum”.
THE
How about this story?

@THE: All Catholics should be forced to watch videos of these castrations before they are allowed to accept communion.

@Larkspur: And no cheeseburgers without seeing quintuple bypass surgery first
Beat me to that one! Maybe also can’t have that cheeseburger before you see films of factory farms both for beef and dairy cows.

@Xecky Gilchrist: Don’t forget the slaughter.
THE
@beltane: Truly beltane I don’t what to make of it any more. I am an ex Catholic from teenage years already.
I left the Church because I felt it was “wrong”. The more I read about its history, the more it creeped me out. Nothing I’ve seen since then has persuaded me that I made the wrong decision.
Glidwrith
That sanctimonious SOB, it will change nothing. My so-goody goody Catholic junior high school beat him to it. Showed us films of candied aborted babies, claiming moans were the mother protesting the abortion even under anesthesia, describing how the baby was punching at a needle injecting burning fluid to kill it. Think it changed my mind? Not a chance in hell, bastards.
El Cid
Shit, it’d be good enough for these legislators to first have to watch videos of health and sex education so that they know where babies come from and such.
scav
@THE: More details here, with links to why it may have been omitted from the recent official report. Forcible castrations and the Dutch old boys’ network. Seriously twisted.

I’m so sick of these creeps. And on another note, I’m watching the news and Santorum is speaking, and what the hell is with the hard-on these assholes have for teleprompters? Do they know that their god Reagan used one? What a bunch of dicks. And just so everybody’s clear here, I’ll say it again: I’m so sick of these creeps.

@Southern Beale:
Not every surgical procedure. But a brave AZ legislator should suggest that the local he mens asking for B0*3r plzz should have to watch how the docs deal with a four hour (or better yet, much more than four hour) stiffy. More gruesome and more gruesomely ischemic/necrotic the better.
Joseph Nobles
I know! I know! After an abortion, the woman has to wear the fetus around her neck for three days. That’s next in the shaming orgy, right?
Daaling
@Yutsano: Shout out right back at ya. To the most loyal groupie evah. You go girl.
El Cid
@Joseph Nobles: As long as she has the abortion live on stage in front of a crowd of angry villagers with rotten food and decayed animal parts to throw at her.
We can figure out what forehead tattoo to give her afterwards.

Thanks for staying on this, ABL.
Martin
Shouldn’t this work both ways? Men don’t get to have sex until they’ve shit out a placenta – whole.
Gian
simple questions. how will the first abortion ever take place if in order to have one you have to watch one? Will it require interstate travel? WIll an out of state certificate of observation be acceptable in Arizona?
WIll Arizona carve out an exception like Saipan and the Northern Marianas, with mandatory abortions for migrant workers?
Sly
@Daaling:
Yeah. Whenever conservatives push through medieval laws they always, at the last minute, call the whole thing off and make sure that “Trollolololololol” is the last thing that appears in the legislative record.

@Southern Beale: I’ve been thinking about Carolyn Jones’s doctors and other caregivers. I do not want to judge them because I am not sure I would be strong enough to deliberately break the law. I get that the reasoning might be that Carolyn Jones was somehow (incredibly, inexplicably) an undercover operative who was going to turn them in if they didn’t follow the letter of the law. I’m going to give them that even though Jones’s anguish, grief, and sonograms were clearly authentic.
But even so, why not take the damn risk? Why not inform Jones that although the law requires you to do all this stuff, you are going to waive those requirements because in your medical opinion those requirements are unnecessary, invasive, and likely to cause harm. So you waive the recitation of fetal characteristics, you waive all the other bell-and-whistle crap. Maybe you even arrange to waive the 24 hour waiting period, although if I were her physician, I might not want to place other clinic workers at legal risk.
What could happen? If Jones is a plant, or if any acquaintance or clinic staff member or anyone chooses to blow the whistle, what is the worst they could do?* Yes, you could go to prison, you could lose your license. But I don’t think you would. I think there would be a hell of a lot of people on your side. And you wouldn’t have traded your Hippocratic oath for an illusion of legal protection, and you’d have provided your patient with the care she needed.
* Damn. The worst they could do is that they could kill you, and possibly anyone in your immediate vicinity. They’ve done it before. You know what? I am old and I am annoyed. I should be a damn bodyguard for any doc who wants to resist.
Daaling
@Sly: You really have no clue do you?! The goal is not to pass laws and enforce them. When you know laws could never be enforced and would not survive a court challenge and probably will never be passed anyways, you may as well crank up the crazy and get some political mileage out of it.
Do I have to show you how to wipe your own ass?

I don’t understand. Doctors are allowed to lie to their patients now if they think lying will help prevent an abortion. That’s obviously not “transparency” or “education”. It’s not about making sure women are well informed consumers making an informed choice.

@Daaling:
Yeah …. they said that about all the anti Same Sex Marriage Amendments, too. And guess what happened?
Basic domestic partnership benefits in states where those amendments passed were all rescinded.
But, yeah! WE”RE the ones that have no clue …
Daaling
Tonybrown74,
They are just trying to move the goal posts a little further to the right. So they start out with these extremes and negotiate towards the center. Just like when you are bargaining over price with someone. If you start out real low or real high you set the expectations a little further towards your direction.
Do some of them actually want the full extreme, sure? Is it enforceable and will it survive a court callenge. Not likely and they know it.
Dems do this sometimes too but not nearly enough. In the healthcare fight they should have started out way farther left. Beyond free. Say extreme shit like “let’s put a tax on greenhouse emissions to pay for it” or whatever. The right freaks which is what doing stuff like that is designed to do. So when you negotiate towards the middle, the right has already had their freak out so if you get a little of what you wanted they have been numbed to any potential outrage over it already.
This is politics 101 people. You should all know this.
Berial
We really ought to pass a law that we can’t start a war until every TV and Cable station has run a weeks worth of video of various miseries that war causes. Or would that trauma be the ‘bad’ kind?
TenguPhule
We will start negotiations with the Pro-Rape party by demanding mandatory Executions for declared Republicans.
We’ll end at a middle ground of mandatory chasity belts and castrations for Repulicans.
