Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans got rid McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

Republicans can’t even be trusted with their own money.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Israel, don’t be dumb like we were in the US after 9/11!

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

Fani Willis claps back at Trump chihuahua, Jim Jordan.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

Republicans don’t trust women.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

This country desperately needs a functioning Fourth Estate.

The GOP couldn’t organize an orgy in a whorehouse with a fist full of 50s.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson: the bland and smiling face of evil.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Not just for all the very good reasons Zandar advances.

Just look.  He’s having the time of his life:

<div align=”center”><iframe width=”420″ height=”315″ src=”http://www.youtube.com/embed/4lHKJEp5e-8″ frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe></div>

Go to around the two minute mark to get to the good stuff.  (Via)

Now try to imagine Larry Summers in the same context.

Whatever their system of government is, it’s the stupidest yet imagined.

Oh God no! We can’t let Dr. Kim be installed as President of the World Bank!
Then Auto-tune will be one step closer to ruling the world!
Tick that clock one more minute to Midnight people, we’re doomed.

What were the reasons Zandar advanced again?

It’s funny, but the more I hear about Kim, the more it sounds like his time at Dartmouth College was almost a working vacation for him. It’s hard to believe that being a college president was any kind of a challenge for the guy who co-founded Partners in Health.

@Corner Stone: Zandar’s reasons: the choice pisses off the right; pisses off the professional left. Which are two fine outcomes, IMHO

Thank’ee. That cheered me up, some, after Liverpool threw away another three points with shit defending. it’s like their defense said after the Carling Cup, “Okay, that’s our trophy won for the season.” Grump.

So I wonder, how will Obama’s critics use this clip to try and show that Dr Kim isn’t serious enough to be World Bank president?

I think all nominees for cabinet or equivalent posts (I know the World Bank isn’t a cabinet post) should have to submit a video of them singing and/or dancing.

As for Larry Summers, I would love to see him in a rap video.

Meanwhile, the NDP here in Canada is choosing a new leader today, and one nominee’s supporter, a truly kick-ass MP, made the mistake of singing backup to a rapper as part of their pitch for the nominee. And this MP was a fine punk-to-country professional musician for several years before he got into politics.

    Second that.

After watching Kim singing, I had a similar thought only I’d require the candidate for any elected position to do public kareoke as a means of determining their ability to let go and either showoff their pipes or show that they can laugh at themselves–most of us would be laughing with them.

I think American culture could use more singing–not just in church, and not just on American Frickin Idol.

Ever been in a grocery store that pipes in “oldies” music? As I roll up and down the aisles, I find myself and others quietly singing along. It’s a good thing. No?
