Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

The words do not have to be perfect.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

I like you, you’re my kind of trouble.

The GOP is a fucking disgrace.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

It’s a good thing this poorly camouflaged critter lives in my oak tree instead of the fictional setting of the Hunger Games, where he might have fallen under the pitiless gaze of movie huntress Katniss Everdeen. She would have put an arrow right through his little eyeball.

Speaking of those who are hard on the little things — the gentle, helpless creatures — it appears Herman Cain is still pretending to be relevant in the public arena (possibly as an excuse to get out of the house and escape the baleful gaze of Mrs. Cain). He has ads out that depict an adorable bunny being hurled upward and shot-gunned out of the sky and a fish being slowly suffocated to death to protest the stimulus. It’s such a pressing issue these days, you know.

Also, according to a CNN breaking news alert, a CNN/ORC poll finds that “nearly 75% of Americans” think George Zimmerman should be arrested for shooting unarmed teen Trayvon Martin to death. I’m guessing the precise number will turn out to be 73%. Maybe the 27% are the Orcs who were polled?

Please consider this an open thread.

It’s 75% only because the Kenyan is leading a “lynchmob” against Zimmerman by selling college style hooded sweatshirts. Seriously. Guess who else is in on the conspiracy – Old Navy.

Scanning the legal blogs and eyewitness reports about this mornings SC arguments on whether to punt the decision to 2014 per the tax law that says you can’t litigate it until the tax is collected, when the mandate begins, looks like the robed masters will have none of that. This doesn’t surprise me, because both sides want a definitive ruling this summer. And the supremes are under a lot of pressure to decide to keep or deep6 the ACA before all the coin and alterations to the health care world, get spent, only to have it all for not, or yea.

Can we maybe have a site redesign update in a separate post? For those of us who don’t visit B-J on the weekend, this is something of a shock to the system this morning. I can go back a page or two and comment on a very old post, but I don’t know if anyone will see it.

Also, having to put two underlines between every paragraph, not just those in blockquotes, is a right pain. I hope that’s fixed.

    Well what do you know…

    http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/26/justice/florida-teen-shooting-poll/index.html?hpt=hp_c1

(CNN) — One month after the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, nearly three out of four Americans say the police should arrest the neighborhood watch volunteer who pulled the trigger, according to a new national survey.
And the CNN/ORC International poll released Monday also indicates that three-quarters of the public says that neighborhood watch members should not be allowed to carry weapons.

Seventy-three percent of people questioned in the survey say that George Zimmerman should be arrested, with 11% disagreeing and 16% unsure.

I think the Keyes Factor post actually warped the very fabric of spacetime. This is just creepy.

Our yard is squirrel heaven, with 5 different varieties all over the joint, all day. But I have never seen a white one. My guess is it’s an albino mutation due to poor genetic diversity (inbreeding). But what would I know?
My wife rescued and raised an orphan baby black squirrel (indoors!) and I can tell you that in person there’s nothing as heart meltingly squee-inducing than a teeny squirrel taking a bottle. His name was Skeezix and he grew up to be released to the ‘wild’ (neighborhood). I wonder if he’s one of the visitors to our yard these days. I put out feed daily for the critters, rain or shine. Chinese obligation, I guess.

Speaking of Herman Fucking Cain, I had the misfortune of tuning in to his tea party patriots speech Satdee in front of hundreds of people.

    Herman Cain lied. A whopper…

Cain said he faced cancer in 2005. He was given a 30% chance of survival. Heres when the lies begin.

Cain stated emphatically, that he would have died if so-called ObamaCare were in effect in 2005, because a “government beurocrat” would have been making medical decisions about who gets care and who doesnt get care. Cain claimed at a 30% survival rate, he would have been told he would get no coverage and die.

This got me to thinking….what happens today regarding healthcare? Million of claims are denied each day based on the insurance companies whims. Nothing more than bottom line profit motivated healthcare.

But isnt there someone at an insurance company making those decisions today, as we speak? Why does Cain support the very thing he despises?

How can you hate supposed gummit decision making in healthcare on the one hand, and support insurance company decison making on the other. Apparently gummit shouldnt make the decision, private for profit insurance should make the decision. The end result is the same-denied coverage (with is immoral).

Is the media to lazy to even think of this?

And we have albino squirrels in our community.

Don’t look now guys, but the narrative push of ‘Trayvon The Super-mega Thug’ is going full bore. The story now: Trayvon, unprovoked, punched ZImmerman in the back of the head, mounted him, and punched and slammed him in the head repeatedly until Zimmerman was FORCED! FORCED to shoot him to save his own life. Oh, and Trayvon was suspended for having marijuana baggies (contradicting earlier reported records of him being suspended for tardiness).

I suspect the 16 percent who are unsure are largely the rock-dwellers who don’t follow the news, and are unfamiliar with the case. These people exist in surprisingly large numbers. So really it’s a 7-1 margin in favor of arresting Zimmerman.

@…now I try to be amused:

Central Florida. Awhile back, my mom, kiddo and I took a hellish (because I had to drive) RV trip to the Carolinas, including the town of Brevard, which purports to be just lousy with white squirrels. We searched high and low didn’t see any.

Then this guy showed up right in our front yard. There might be more than one, I guess, but we’ve never seen but one at a time. The kids told us about it weeks before we saw it ourselves, but we didn’t believe it until we saw it with our own eyes.

I’m frankly surprised that the NRA hasn’t come out in defense of Trayvon; after all, if the young man would have been packing heat, Zimmerman would not likely have, well, survived, anyway.. Wait, that would mean NRA would condone arming young, black male hoodies.. nevermind.
