Hey, this is Paddy from the Political Carnival. My brother and his wife in Ohio work with a group callled Muttly Crue saving dogs, specializing in Pit Bulls. Wiley is six months old and saved from the Cleveland Kennel 24 hours before he was to be put down for no other reason than he was abandoned and he was a pit bull. They have two other smaller dogs and two pits that Wiley (aka Frodo) gets along marvelously with. He was just neutered today, is up on shots, crate trained, house broken and micro chipped. Love to cuddle and LOVES to play. I’d take him in a heart beat but I’m just not up to the work a young dog demands. Bro said he’d be willing to drive as far as my home (5 hours away) to get Wiley to his forever home, so if you’re within a 5 hour radius of southeast Cleveland, give this love muffin a gander.

If you’re interested, or know someone who might be, contact me at AnneLaurie @ verizon.net (or click on my name in the Contact list to the right) and I’ll pass you message along.

    What a beautiful dog… sigh. I’d love to take him, but I’ve got two already skittish cats. Hope someone can step up to the plate for this fella.

    @Anya:

    THIS is exactly what i was begging for an open thread for!!

    ABC News has posted a police surveillance video, showing George Zimmerman on the night he killed Trayvon Martin — and Zimmerman is very obviously not injured at all. Certainly no broken nose, and no visible injuries to his head, despite the recent claims by police that he was punched in the nose by Trayvon and had his head bashed into the pavement.

    March 28, 2012 at 8:48 pm

    @Anya:

    My only question is, is this definitively from the night of the shooting? There’s no timestamp on the video, and what we assume is Zimmerman doesn’t match appearance-wise the 7 year old mug shot the News has been running during this whole fiasco.

    I am eagerly awaiting Sanford PD’s response to this video, because if it’s legit, they are up a creek.

    @Anya:
    LGF has more now:

    It’s getting worse, too: Funeral Director: No Injuries on Trayvon’s Hands.

    The funeral director who prepared Trayvon Martin’s body for burial told HLN’s Nancy Grace Wednesday that he did not see any cuts or bruises on the teen’s hands that would have been indicative of a struggle with George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed the Florida teen.

    Richard Kurtz of Roy Mizell and Kurtz Funeral Home in Fort Lauderdale said there appeared to be a gunshot wound in Martin’s upper chest area, but he received the body after the autopsy was completed so it was difficult to tell whether he had other injuries. He also could not determine the bullet’s entry or exit point.

    “As for his hands and knuckles, I didn’t see any evidence he had been fighting anybody,” Kurtz said. …

    While Kurtz is not a forensics expert, the funeral director said he has handled the bodies of many homicide victims in his career. This case in particular affected him as he learned more about what happened to Martin and how the case was handled.

    “I think the police investigation was the most unprofessional one I’ve ever seen in my lifetime,” Kurtz said.

    @handy: right. This shouldn’t have been left to question for the FUNERAL DIRECTOR, it should have been cleanly noted in the autopsy done by the FORENSIC SPECIALISTS.

    They’ve been doing it on CSI for 20 years. Surely, no one is gonna tell me defensive/offensive injuries on a dead body is only fiction now?

    but yea, in all seriousness, the whole thing stinks to high hell.

    I’m so sorry to hear all this! It’s wonderful that he’s awake and lucid, but very sad that the cardiac tissue is damaged to the point that the kidneys are also suffering.

    I am also not a doctor, but I’ve worked on a cardiac floor long enough to be sadly familiar with this scenario. If it’s still feeling overwhelming and you’re getting too much jargon and technical details, you might try asking your nurse for a good chat sometime when things settle down (usually evenings are calmest, after 8 pm when everyone goes to sleep)

    Police fucking up investigations is sadly all too common. I hate to say this, but most police departments outside of major cities are usual yokels and often white trash. These people often can’t tie their fucking shoes on. Major metropolitan areas have their own police issues (they are competent but often crooked as fuck) but they are less prone to utterly fuck something up.

    The feds are involved now and for all their issues they are competent.

    It also seems a LOT of this was the DA. I dunno how many of you have been through the legal system but DA’s do not like taking cases they can’t win. Losses are bad for them. If they think it won’t stand they’ll let it fly. We were droping stencils and bombing (street art and graffiti) and pretty much got caught red handed. We booked, they had our prints, plus a pretty good cause to assume we were the ones that cut the locks to get in. But as our faces could not be seen on camera because we wore things to hide them, and just shut up, it got tossed, not worth the hassle.

    It seems that DA’s just aren’t pushing cases invovling shootings because of the SYG law and how much it allows.

    DA’s don’t like losing, period.
