I Can’t Go For That is seriously a song I could listen to at any time or any place.

I almost like this cover better than the real thing. It has a nice, clean sound. In a fucking car.

that is pretty awesome.
i love the implied wit, in how shocking it is to hear people in a car sing on key, much less harmonizing.
though that crazy train minivan commercial almost killed it, it still gets me, because when ever someone opens their mouth to sing in a vehicle, i brace for the worst.

It’s the kazoo that makes it.

Galafinakis did a comedy tour a few years ago where the entire troupe was in a van. Funny stuff.

Do we get a post-coitus update?

Very cool, but the road noise is fucking annoying. Still, impressive.

i love that it’s in a car and that there’s road noise (and a kazoo)! very original but damn you John for making me listen to a Hall & Oates song, even if I never thought it could sound that good.

You know how I know I’ve become an old stick-in-the-mud parent? All I can think of is “Why are they not wearing their seat belts?”.
She does original songs too that are what they classify as California Country (think early Eagles) and then there’s the van session covers on YouTube.

Thank you John, that made my day.

All I can say is, when I try this in the back of a New York City taxi, the taxi driver never really manages to harmonize with me as well as these guys do.
Plus, the drivers always, always butcher the lyrics. It’s “easy ready willing overtime”, not “easy riders will I over time”. C’mon dude, that doesn’t even make sense….
Somewhat OT but does anyone know whether Scalia sang “I Can’t Go For That” and demanded a “limiting principle” when he granted the federal government power under the Commerce Clause to forbid the growing of marijuana for personal use, in Gonzales v. Raich?
Specifically, did he ask the Solicitor General–musically or otherwise–whether, if the federal government is allowed to criminalize the growing of cannabis for personal use in your garden, can’t they then also criminalize the growing of broccoli for personal use in your garden?

I am seriously going to have to work “She plays a good kazoo while driving” into a conversation somewhere.
Mr. Svinlesha
John….she does Deal as well. In the van.
Best damn Deal in a van I’ve ever heard. :)

I guess most people would remember Atomic Tom’s live performance on the NY Subway.

An evening with Jill and now this. Son you are on a tear!

That was great! I’m really impressed. And who a kazoo could be rocked. I’ve learned something new.
I’ll have to check them out for sure.

@Genine:
Go see Carolina Chocolate Drops sometime. Kazoo or not, go see CCD anytime you can.
This vid was making the FB rounds earlier this week. They’ve got a whole series of Van Sessions, which are uniformly excellent. But this was my fav.
Petorado
One of the threads here last night turned me on to these guys. Here’s another situational cover song video that rocks an old Pogues song. Since Clear Channel killed radio, You Tube’s been a good way to find music through other means.

@Montysano:
Oops! I missed that. Thanks!
And I’ll check out Carolina Chocolate Drops.
