I see that Megan has some flying monkeys in from the Cato Institute to run her blog while she is off on her broomstick on a salt-mining expedition in Nepal or hunting down the elusive gold Thermomix in the wilds of Manhattan.
I daren’t look too closely. Are the walls over there even more shit smeared than usual?

FWIW, Tom Goldstein, who runs SCOTUSBlog and was the attorney for the losing side of yesterday’s 5-4 strip search decision, was on the Daily Show tonight, and said he thought the SC was going to strike down the ACA.
As an aside, I’m glad Romney, after stepping up to the mic for his victory speech, assured us Paul Ryan wasn’t going to replace his wife Ann.

Why did Baylor and ND both wear green tonight? The one women’s game I watch all year and I was lost half the time.

@Hill Dweller: Jon did his best David Broder in the lead-in to that interview, which is always good for a groan from me.

Obama: Great President, or Greatest President?

@Martin:
I love Nichelle Nichols. A lot of people don’t realize how much work she’s done for NASA and how influential she was in getting the astronaut corps to be more diverse.
And she was matron of honor at George Takei’s big gay wedding, also, too.

@Morbo: Thanks for sharing. That pic is a good antidote to damn near everything I’ve read today. LLAP indeed!!

But you have a black woman and a gay man…combine them, sprinkle on some liberalism, and you’ve got the triple threat!
Hill Dweller
@Morbo: Yeah, Stewart does that sort of shit occasionally. He did it on Obama’s hot mic ‘gaffe’ last week, but the bit felt forced and fell flat.
Unfortunately, the court overturning a law pertaining to commerce hasn’t happened in a long time, and would certainly be considered judicial activism. Goldstein knows that as well, but he has to try cases in front of the SC, so I can understand his unwillingness to say it.
I’m just tired of everyone pretending Obama said the SC couldn’t overturn any law. It is obvious he was talking about overturning a law that deals with commerce, which he reiterated during the Q&A after this morning’s speech.

Actually, she has travelled to Nepal in search of the elusive argle-bargle plant the seed of which produces a colored juice the absolute perfect shade of magenta necessary to highlight the crockery in her kitchen but alas not the crockery in her prose.

@Hill Dweller:
“The order, by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, appears to be in direct response to the president’s comments yesterday about the Supreme Court’s review of the health care law. Mr. Obama all but threw down the gauntlet with the justices, saying he was “confident” the Court would not “take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.”
… The panel ordered the Justice Department to submit a three-page, single-spaced letter by noon Thursday addressing whether the Executive Branch believes courts have such power, the lawyer said.
The panel is hearing a separate challenge to the health care law by physician-owned hospitals. The issue arose when a lawyer for the Justice Department began arguing before the judges. Appeals Court Judge Jerry Smith immediately interrupted, asking if DOJ agreed that the judiciary could strike down an unconstitutional law.”

@JordanRules: Requested a delete, guess I didn’t get it. Meant to reply to Martin. Pic is still classic even with a flubbed comment in my rear view.

@Morbo: See, the way I read that was of Stewart satirizing that strain of High Broderism.
But maybe I’m seeing what I want to see, like the conservatards who think Colbert really IS on their side.

I do admit. I had never thought of it til I read what you said. It is a knock off of crush the castle, but it is still a fun game. Only difference is, no blood and better sound effects.

@Martin:
I would have to go with “greatest president” on that one. What I love best about that photo is that it looks like he is more excited to be posing with Uhura than she is to be posing with the president. Home turf advantage, I’m sure, but it still tickles me.
I hope they both do indeed live long and prosper.
