Insomnia and this song running through my head:
I’ve never voluntarily listened to this song, I never liked it, I never owned it, and if I had any say in the matter, I would never hear it again.
Yet here we are. This would at least be tolerable.

I have never really cared much for Ozzy Osbourne’s vocals, there I said it.
REO is running in my head thanks to The Cabin in the Woods

@Brutusettu: Saw REO last year in Baltimore on the waterfront. They were meh. Maybe it was the venue.

Any chance my comment on Occupy the Buffer Zone in Cyprus in the last thread could be rescued from eternal awaiting moderation?

Home sweet Home is a crappy song, and later Crue is overprocessed pop shitslurry, and Crue has always been fairly talentless, but the song is fun to play on guitar, just the way the chords and melody progress.
So, there we are. Indeed.

@Brutusettu:
How on Earth is that link getting redirected to a page I’ve never looked at on here?

Why isn’t there an open thread about andy sullivan being the runner up for wanker of the decade. didn’t seem atrios’ heart was really into when he wrote that piece. if it had been, i just don’t see how he could not have been the winner. i’m thinking lil tommy will now win the trophy so suck on this.

Speaking of g’danged earworms… My thrice-bedamned housemate has developed a keen love of Katy Fricking Perry and so every evening as I am drifting off to sleep I am treated to endless repeats of this and this until I’m practically singing it in my dreams and over my damned musli in the mornings. Speaking of which, now that you’ve outed yourself, this.

One of the big indicators for me that the darkness has settled in for a stay is that a song will loop in my brain for hours. Its never anything I enjoyed to start with & the worst is when it is something from a really annoying commercial.
If you have to have an ‘earworm’ the least you should expect is its something you want o hear!

@Brutusettu:
What does Ozzy have to do with a Motley Crue video? Or was that just a general comment? Anyways…
Motley Crue is marginally OK. Better than most of the hair-spray LA metal at the time. At the least, they were one of the originators rather than a copy cat. And no doubt Nikki Sixx is laughing all the way to the bank
I was much more into hard-core metal (thrash at the time) or prog-metal. Wasn’t a big fan of the hair-spray guys.
Course, all of it was 100 times better than all the punk, new-wave, alternative crap that was the ‘in thing’ back then… At least among those who thought they were too cool for school just because they liked crappy music LOL

I went and saw a friend of mines band play the other night and now I’ve got a Foo-Fighters song they played stuck in my head… Talk about a nightmare. The Foos are about the most overrated overplayed band of all time. May the FSM deliver me from the Foo Fighters playing in my head
Off Colfax
Funny. I read the title and I immediately had this song stuck in my head. So now I have to turn it all the way up. Fortunately for my continued survival, my laptop speakers don’t even come close to going up to 11, as everyone else is still asleep.

@Cromagnon: Aw, fuck you and your shitty musical taste. (You were trying to start an 80s music genre fight, right?)
PLH in NYC
Here’s an earworm for you to obsess about instead of the crap you posted. I do not generally listen to pop. But this song has something.

I had never heard this song before now, so thanks for that John.T Thanks a lot.

UGH! You reminded me yet again why I avoid listening to most pop-rock music. Most of it is simply awful to endure listening to. The problem is not that it’s nominally in the rock category; there’s an abundance of wonderful tunes in that general category, but most of what’s most popular is schlock that is at best annoying then forgettable, at worst will give you a horrible earworm that resists going away for hours or even days.

There’s an even more annoying pop-rock genre than mediocre mild metal. I call it “whiny tinkly girlie music”, e.g. see Celine Dion. Unfortunately, this genre also crosses over into commercial country: many female country artists produce way too many tunes in this genre. Often, there’s a schmaltzy gentle keyboard dominating the instrumentation that gives it the characteristic “tinkly” sound.
Brutusettu
@Cromagnon:
Perhaps John Cole linked to an Ozzy video and embedded that Motley Crue one.

I call this stuff country – Motley Crue, Guns and Roses,etc.,.
It is basically twangy country rock, nothing metal about it.
