Keeping my eye on the NYT list for the book. Given the buzz I’m seeing, I’ll be surprised if it doesn’t break out.

What the hell, just toss out the beer bottles, throw the wine glasses in the dishwasher, vacuum the dog/cat hair and be done with it. Clean is overrated.
ETA: How did your critters react to the party?

glad you had fun.
there might have been a little mockery this side.
Matoko Borgia-Steeler
@Little Boots:
The important thing is that it was bi-partisan mockery. A Grand Bargain of mockery, if you will. Frankly speaking, I think it was an impressive display.

70-foot Chuck Grassly would be proud.
and not angry.
which is good.

Reckon you ought to get some sleep, Cole, and not spend the next 24 hours cleaning.
Matoko Borgia-Steeler
@Little Boots:
Although, it must be said that you go to war with the 70ft Chuck Grassleys you have, not the 70ft Chuck Grassleys you might want or wish to have at a later time…

white vinager and baking soda will clear up most post-party chaos.
Also, thing I’ve just learned this year, eucalyptus oil on a cotton ball will wipe up any sticky residue you can imagine.

24 hours to clean? What did you all do, sacrifice a pig?
Little Boots
@ulee:
there was some overbiting, apparently, and maybe drool?
Little Boots
@Matoko Borgia-Steeler:
I want to meet the man who ever wished for a 70-ft chuck grassley.
actually, no, I don’t.

Home before 4am?
Amateurs!
Little Boots
@Clime Acts:
tell me about it.

@Little Boots: Twenty minutes. Drooling, overbiting, paying bills, napping, cleaning out the fridge. It’s all twenty minutes.

Small town doesn’t even begin to describe Bethany, WV. I’ve seen bigger city blocks–in Nebraska!

Talk about excitement, I ran out of my house tonight to catch the 22:20 flyover of the ISS. Got to the water about 5 minutes ahead of time. Realised I didn’t bring a flashlight to see the camera controls (iPod did ok in a pinch). Didn’t bring anything to measure the angle. Brought the wrong lens.
There is one streak in the one pic I got that is the ISS. Two more magnitude -3 or better passes this week, hope the clear skies continue.
No meteors sighted, but I may go back out in a few hours.
The prophet Nostradumbass
@MikeJ: I have run out to see the ISS before as well, it’s really cool to see it move across the sky.
If you’re on the twitter, there’s a service that will send you alerts about ISS pass-overs, based on the location you set in your twitter profile.

I can’t believe I went to bed early and missed all the party hilarity. Easy as it would be to make fun of white people getting down with a beer in their hand, I do love to see a group having a good time. And for a good cause as well. Best of luck to Wiley with his book. I’ll check it out.

here in NC the local press has given A Land More Kind than Home huge play. it is expected to be very big nationally.
we love our Southern novelists, especially when they write about any part of NC, especially the mountains, especially Madison County. the traditions there are still alive. this place is lousy with writers, but this book is highly anticipated.
it has been fun reading in real time about the launch.
