Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

Tick tock motherfuckers!

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

If you’re gonna whine, it’s time to resign!

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

I would gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

Anne Laurie is a fucking hero in so many ways. ~ Betty Cracker

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

We will not go back.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

All the local sports radio talk shows are talking up Donta Hightower for the Steelers. I don’t pay any attention to college sports so I just heard about him this week, but the way the talking heads yammer on about him you’d think he’s the second coming of Levon Kirkland.

I am all for cleaning up our discourse from words with derogatory meaning for mental illness. But I am stumped by proposing legislation to remove the word “lunatic” from all past legislation and the general vernacular of government.

The word “lunatic” appears in at least one spot in the U.S. Code — in Title 1, Chapter 1, which covers rules of construction. Chapter 1 holds that when determining the meaning of any law, “the words ‘insane’ and ‘insane person’ and ‘lunatic’ shall include every idiot, lunatic, insane person, and person non compos mentis.”

What does this even mean? And why can’t I call republicans lunatics? As I don’t associate that word with mental illness, but rather very strange, mean and crazy people who do very strange mean and crazy things. But are not mentally ill within the normal parameters of mental illness. Unless you want to call everyone in the GOP mentally ill. I don’t think that is accurate. I think “lunatics” is accurate. or, “Fucking lunatic Idiots” or “insane lunatic idiots” I smell a shithouse rat redacting pages of Readers Digest.

The photo, which appears to have been taken in the restroom, was done so because “we had to hide from media a–holes,” Redman said on Twitter……

“We wanted to use a jersey that we wore early in our history as we celebrate our 80th season,” team president Art Rooney II said in a statement. “We have never used those jerseys since the 1934 season and I think our fans will be excited to see our players wear them in action this year.”

GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) — Authorities in Texas have issued two arrest warrants for Ryan Leaf, declaring the former NFL quarterback is a fugitive from justice.

The Texas prosecutor who brokered a 10-year probationary sentence for Leaf two years ago on drug and burglary charges filed a motion to revoke Leaf’s probation earlier this month.
