Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Everybody saw this coming.

Not all heroes wear capes.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Second rate reporter says what?

Their freedom requires your slavery.

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Just because you believe it, that doesn’t make it true.

Why did Dr. Oz lose? well, according to the exit polls, it’s because Fetterman won.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

We need to win the presidency this fall or face the prospect of very serious proconsuls Ryan and Cantor. It’s that simple.

Do what you can.

If Obama wins and the House doesn’t flip over to the Dems, expect impeachment during the next four years.

It’s the GOP’s Plan B. Always has been.

Yeah,I know Obama and the House and Senate is important but TAP’s in big financial trouble. If you can afford it send a few bucks there. We are talking closing there doors trouble. TAP’s one of the few liberal organizations that you not only see talking heads from but their talking heads seem to do a pretty decent job.

Your hyper partisanship, however, clouds the accuracy of anything you report or opine upon, especially on the Dem side. You’re so emotionally invested that you can’t possibly be reasonably critical when it’s called for; you’re a cheerleader.

I don’t see how that makes your blogging valuable to anyone but the DLC. Are you auditioning?

If I vote at all this fall, I will vote for Obama. No chance I’ll vote for any republican; I never have. But I like people who call it as it is rather than as they choose to pretend to see it.

A President Romney, with a majority in both houses, can pass the Ryan budget using reconciliation. That’s their favorite move since they did it for the Bush tax cuts. High fives all around in the House Members Gym.

Doug, with all due respect, what does any of this matter if the Dems can’t get control of the legislature. What in **** is the plan?

In my state it looks to me like the Republicans are playing the long game. The AFL-CIO spent millions getting an anti-gerrymandering law passed, but the GOP threatened to break up the judiciary and roll back every reform from the 1970’s (the brief period when we actually HAD fair districts, lol!!!) and now they are kindly refusing to do much about the GOPs smoke-filled-room district plans in court. The only good news is that lobbying works, the bad news is that our governor is a cray-cray thief with a line-item veto.

We’ve got US House districts with no Dems running… I will, depending on the district lines, be switching parties to vote in a primary. We’ve got other districts with four Dems running but the district is in play so this could end in a Dem loss. OFA is everywhere but you know lots of voters won’t vote a straight Dem ticket and what if they actually can’t? Many important races will be decided at August primary. Organizing is really important. These young kids at Occupy, I know some of them have done some PR, actions, lobbying on a local level, but they are very naive vis a vis national politics. When Obama wins, OFA will pack up and everyone will go home. How stupid. You don’t get your agenda passed by sitting back and whinging about the old days of comity. I don’t just mean Big O but the entire Dem machine. Obama made a big mistake in not continuing to campaign in 2009.

You might consider that I simply don’t care when you or any other mindless bot mocks me. It has no impact, else I would have stopped commenting here long ago.

Which is the BJ bot strategy in a nutshell: To bully all progressive thinkers into the Obama camp or out the door.

But unlike you,I don’t comment on this blog in search of emotional affirmation, so I’m good, thanks.

No, little xian, it’s rather quite the opposite: Bots attempt to bully me and many other OUT of reading this blog, but their efforts are for naught, at least in my case.

Both sides do a lot of shitty stuff. I want to hear about it all. If the Pukes do a lot MORE and worse shitty stuff, as I believe to be the case, that will be self evident.

What are you really afraid of? That you’ll lose a place to be safely, childishly tribal?

and in the mean time, Romney campaign signs on to Gays Have Cooties agenda

Richard Grenell, Mitt Romney’s newly appointed spokesperson on national security and foreign policy, has resigned, reports the Washington Post. In a statement obtained by the Post, Grenell thanks Romney for “his clear message to me that being openly gay was a non-issue for him and his team.”
Conservative blogger Jennifer Rubin concludes that the resignation occurred because of pressure from anti-gay right-wing groups that resulted in Grenell being sidelined just as the anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death and otherforeign policy issues are dominating the news.
