Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

T R E 4 5 O N

Let there be snark.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

Consistently wrong since 2002

“woke” is the new caravan.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

This really is a full service blog.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Despite his magical powers, I don’t think Trump is thinking this through, to be honest.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

“Squeaker” McCarthy

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Since everything I know about ‘America’s sport’ at the amateur level I learned from Japanese anime, I’m assuming the gormless dude in the back row who slept through the whole production is the catcher.

What’s on the agenda for a feels-like-summer weekend evening?

Nope, the Spousal Unit is collecting the manga but I haven’t read any of it. Still waiting for the anime version of Princess Nine!

We are wondering what to do with a grey tom that seems to have taken a shine to our place. I was out last night calling Bitsy in when he answered and strolled up. Very friendly, he allowed me to pick him up, and he sat on my lap and purred. He was back just now, crying at the back door. Mrs J seems a bit cool towards him, but she may take him in to the shelter for a checkup and shots and a clipping.

Never seen Twilight and not a fan of Kristen Stewart, but if Charlize Theron is as awesome in the movie as she is in the trailer, then Snow White and and the Huntsman may be pretty good even with Kristen Stewart in it.

Oh and I know Kristen Stewart is the “it” actress right now, but ain’t no way, she “fairer” than Charlie Theron. I mean Stewart is cute, but as a straight lady, even I thik Charlize Theron is yowza hot!

@Amir Khalid: she’s a cute girl, but I always thought Snow White was supposed to be this great beauty and while KStew is pretty, “fairest of them all” she ain’t IMHO.

Still Charlize Theron looks wicked hot in this, and Thor, I mean, Chris Hemsworth is enough eye-candy for me and the rest of the ladies :-)

I don’t get the Kristen Stewart thing either. If she hadn’t been in the Twilight movies she wouldn’t be getting much attention for her acting or her looks. She’s cute, but certainly not the “fairest of them all.”

With the evening free, currently looking through Netflix to see what’s worth watching. I’ve been meaning to watch “The Siege” for a while now, but I’m in a fairly good mood and from what I know of the movie, it’s fairly depressing. Ah well, let’s see what else they’ve got.

Tonight’s agenda is catching up on all the season finales on the shows I have on TiVo like NCIS (both versions), CSI (the real one), Hawaii Five-O, and Person of Interest.

Also listening to the entire Lord of the Rings symphony, which I think is longer than the movies.

I still don’t actively watch it, but I catch the odd game here and there. The Grey Cup game a few years back was awesome, had a really Eyeshield-worthy ending.

I did some errands by bike and need to take a shower before we go out to dinner. I have to work both jobs tomorrow — ugh. Theoretically I probably could have gone into work at the Giant Evil Corporation today and Weight Watchers tomorrow, but I like to have at least one frickin’ day off per week.

In other news, got my Tempurpedic mattress set today; doc’s scheduling me for an MRI to see what’s what with this damned sciatica. Had a diskectomy (?) on my L5 ten years ago; really hoping not to have to do THAT dance again.

I haven’t been a baseball fan for all that long, but does it seem like the umpires are, in general, really awful this year? It feels like there’ve been a ton of blown calls and insane strike zones, and it’s only May.

I was really turned off by the premise when I first read about it, and decided not to watch it. but, then Christmas tv break came, and they were showing multiple episodes a week. Saw one, then another, then another. totally hooked.

    LOVED the finale.

    @Ben Cisco:

Re sciatica: I have had two go-rounds with sciatica, one scorchingly bad, and the only thing that helped me was Thai massage. It’s sort of like “directed” yoga, where the masseur (gently) pushes you through the motions. No stress, incredibly relaxing, and great for sciatica, IMO.

But, as usual, find someone who really knows what he or she is doing.

I would only consider surgery as an extremely last resort. And I say that as someone who, in the worst phase, had to lie down on the floor of my office about a third of the day to be able to get through the day.

@rikyrah: My husband was a huge Human Target fan. He was devastated when it wasn’t renewed. Now he’s currently mourning the loss of The Firm. He has bad luck with shows; his favs are always cancelled unless they are NCIS. I joke that I blame myself for getting him into Carnivale and Veronica Mars, or else they might have had longer runs!

The video brings back some very nice memories of being in high school and being bused to away games. The furthest we went was to Lebanon Indiana where the great hoosier high school basketball star Rick Mount awaited us. We were singing Beatle songs and “a hundred bottle of beer on the wall” and there were cheerleaders on board. Mount had thirty some points and we got killed in the actual game, but the bus ride itself was worth it.
