Picture of Max.
Not much to say about the mechanics of this pic. It illustrates what I said before about holding the camera low; in this case I held it real low, almost touching the ground, and used the GH2’s fold-out LCD to compose. I got close to the dog with my 20mm lensCorrection: I used my manual 50mm lens and focused by hand on Max’s eye. The aperture was fairly wide to blur background and I just snapped away until I got a few that I like. The most important part was keeping an eye on the light to find a moment when Max flopped down on a spot on the grass lit softly by late-day light, then I circled around to get a perspective with the light coming from off to one side to emphasize Max’s dimensionality.
Chat about whatever.

The current adds I am seeing on this site are for defending against a dividend tax hike. With what looks like a blue collar worker. Since when does a blue collar worker earn enough from dividends to give a damn?

I just got going with a dslr and I like it. I took a ton of pix on Maui and, with Lightroom and some of the presets I have some pretty good stuff. On the downside I can’t find my charger and extra battery!

I can only offer a short clip of my twins. They are twice that size now and not at all shy, so I’m hoping for some stills.

Lord, I wish my dog would tolerate being photographed, much less “pose.” Grumble, grumble. Mister Max, he’s a star and seems to know it. Also, too, photos leaked today of apparent Canon mirrorless system cam. Very bland design, but that’s no surprise from the Toyota of camera makers.

The waterfall suggests that to moi.

@Raven:
Which camera did you get?
Raven
@Steeplejack: Indeed and the Stupa is in Paia.
Raven
@Steeplejack: The Canon Rebel T3, I borrowed a wide-angle lens for the trip.

How about the stain glass window in the wedding chapel.

Max is one really happy dog. It does a person good just to see him.

You may not know it yet, because it was only released on Tuesday, but this is the record of the summer.

We did not see minks this week. Some kids piled up rocks from the shoreand made a little dam to make it deeper, I liked that, the dog not so much. He loves the water but not to swim. I made him come out but he was swimming vertically, which was really inefficient for him. He needs to stop trying to get his back toes down to the bottom.

@Raven: Lovely all of them. Thanks.

On the photography topic, Commie Alert!
Velvia Pro 100F being discontinued. (For you young’ns that’s color slide film–say it with me, “film”–that happens to be the best remaining since Kodachrome went to the ashheap.)
