You can guess what is going on here.
Will Max defend his breed’s tough reputation against an eight month old Portugese Water Dog named Seven? In similar news, will Mitt Romney stand up to a couple of angry tea party birthers on Medicare Hoverounds?
Magic eight ball says: not likely.
Chat about whatever.

Sure looks like they are both having fun though.

Max always looks like such a softie. He just wants to play and have fun!
ETA: When I read this:
because this is a post about dogs, somehow my brain twisted that into “Medicare Hounds”. Now there’s an image.

OMFG, that’s cute!
Villago Delenda Est
Max, the pacifist Doberman.
Yeah, they’re cute, it’s squeeeeee city on that verdant plain!

That Porteguese dog looks like a fuzzy velociraptor in that top pic.
PurpleGirl
Those are cute pictures. Dobies are such softies and fun loving.

Awesome pics! I think I’ll finish up my lunch break with a dogwalk! Have a happy day!

Man jumps out of balloon, intentionally, falls 18 miles, lives and wants moar. Some hobby.

Is Seven’s owner a “Seinfeld” fan or a Trekkie?
VividBlueDotty
He may have surrendered, but he didn’t give up the ball. My kinda doggie.
something fabulous
Oh I just love that dog, just from his photos! What a comedian!

@VividBlueDotty: Yeah, I liked that. He doesn’t care about being upside down, he’s got the BALL!!! Gotta keep your priorities straight.
My dog does the opposite. He really likes to “gnaw” on the skulls of other dogs, and if they aren’t into it, he brings a toy, lets them take it from him after a brief pro forma tussle, and then gets on with his skull sucking while they are triumphantly displaying the toy.
We’re off to swim at the millpond shortly. He loves the water, putting his head under, wading deeply, but swimming… Last time it was his first actual swimming, and he was doing it wrong. I didn’t know dogs could. He tries to hold his body vertically. Maybe he is just stretching his toes down hoping to feel the bottom?

That is absolutely wonderful – the joy of the day is evident in each face.
I’d love to have a young dog again. My old guy is seeing a pile of pain lately, and has quit going up the front porch stairs without being carried. At 105 lbs, him dead weighting his hips is kind of sucking.

@peach flavored shampoo: All velociraptors were fuzzy. And you’re right, he does. Just look at that set of teeth.
Yutsano
MAXPUPPEH!!
@peach flavored shampoo: Needs moar dynamite and machine gun. Oh and shark riding.

Wow! Senate Dems actually held together to pass the middle class tax extention. Only Web and Holy Joe demurred.
Your move, Boner.

Thanks Tim, I needed that.

@Mino:
I read that and wow.
The lines are drawn.

I saw my first Romney bumper sticker last week, and it really struck me that it was the first and so far only one I’ve seen. Obama12 are fairly frequently seen. Who knows what this means, but my recollection is that McCain stickers were quite common 4 years ago.

@muddy: I don’t think my doggie can swim. We went to one of the end of season swimming pool doggie days, and while he was perfectly happy in every wading pool, my attempt to let him swim in the shallow pool (3-4 ft) went badly wrong. He immediately started trying to pull himself out at the side. Stretched full length he could reach the ledge, but certainly could not pull his 80 pound self out. So I got in with him. The volunteers were yelling at me to get out, and I kept saying, let me help him to the stairs. Even with me holding him up, he kept trying to get to the side to get out. I couldn’t believe a dog that looks so much like a Lab had zero desire (or ability) to swim. We don’t do doggie pool days any more.

I’m usually afraid of Dobermans based on their rep, but Max is adorable. Those photos are pure joy.

@VividBlueDotty: I had a lab that hated water so much he would walk around a puddle. Water was for the bowl and that was all.
I just came home and Sawyer swam properly today! Once he got it he was a regular swimming machine, very excited by it all, and how sticks actually float.
Narcissus
He still has the ball, which is what is important.
VividBlueDotty
@muddy: Yay, Sawyer! Jake doesn’t hate water…loves to walk in the rain, even in downpours, and when he was very young, he was always putting his foot in his water bowl. Fine with water, just not swimming. But glad to know he is not the only non-swimming lab. : )

@VividBlueDotty: Druid was abandoned on a mountainside in flash flood season as a puppy, I think that had a lot to do with it. Here’s his story:
https://balloon-juice.com/2012/03/11/early-morning-open-thread-true-companions/
Druid hated rain so much that he once went 24 hours without asking to go out to pee, and finally I put my foot down and ordered him out in the “bad dog” voice. He thought I was very mean.
