Do we have, and if not, can we institute, a PLEASE DONT SPOIL THE OLYMPIC RESULTS rule in these threads? I’m avoiding blogs and pretty much every sports site in an effort to keep the drama alive.

This is why that song popped into your head.
Comrade Mary
OH THANK GOD I THOUGHT YOU WERE ALL DEAD. (Quite a lag in posting times today. Has Tunch turned John into his personal popsicle?)

@J.A.F. Rusty Shackleford: Yep, you’re right.

@Comrade Mary: The paychecks were short this week so we’re on a work slowdown.

@Face: I wouldn’t trust one if I were you. I’m in the same boat and it is up to ME to avoid contact with web sites and other sources of information. It’s not easy but relying on someone else to shield you is a stone loser.

From Political Wire:
“David Brooks: “President Obama’s proposals are small and medium-size retreads, while Mitt Romney has run the closest thing to a policy-free race as any candidate in my lifetime. Republicans spend their days fleshing out proposals, which Romney decides not to champion.”
With the notable exception of the Ryan plan, which the GOP is keeping mum on.

Been away now and then with fun family stuff and other matters. Did any of the front pagers post anything about this powerful review of climate change science?
Of course, deniers and wingnuts will blame everything from conspiracies to sun spots. And Obama, and Clinton.

who is this firebagger asshole aka drew westen ?

Can someone explain to me how we got such a clueless judiciary?
Iran partly guilty for 9/11? WTF?!

@LGRooney: What a bunch of maroons.

I know a large portion of the BJ contingent doesn’t want kids my age hanging around here mucking up your threads (I’m 28), so I’ll make this quick: Gorka’s “Houses in the Fields” is one of my all-time favorite sad songs. Now, back to your regularly scheduled curmudgeoning.

@speedbumped: Damned summer holidays! Can’t wait ’til you people are back in school so we can curmudgeon our days away in peace!

Thanks for the John Gorka link. He’s one of my favorite writers. So many of his songs cover the sadder side of our lives. My favorite is Carnival Knowledge.
speedbumped, if you want a truly sad tune, check out John Hiatt’s Tip Of My Tongue.

@speedbumped: Actually that whole album (Jack’s Crows) is a great piece of low-key, wistful and melancholy songwriting.

Spreading the word on the predations of CareCredit: someone here mentioned they’d been ripped off by them.
Wanted to let everyone know my research indicates they work in a way that makes it almost impossible NOT to be ripped off by them.

@LGRooney:
Al-Qa’ida, I get that one. But the Taliban don’t give a shit about anything but Afghanistan, and you can’t possibly blame Iran for crazy Sunnis. And why was this lawsuit allowed to proceed to a default judgement anyway?

I’m from ATL. When people tell me “You don’t sound like a Southerner”, I tell them I watched a lot of TV when I was five.
I drove through NJ just a few weeks ago. It’s quite a nice place once you get out of the city, not unlike, say, Maryland, or even certain parts of Tennessee.
Danger, Will Robinson!
I’m from Ohio. I’ve visited New Jersey. It’s a good place to get lost in the middle of nowhere… yet still be less than 50 miles from the big city. Can’t say the same for Ohio.
