Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Stop using mental illness to avoid talking about armed white supremacy.

Rebecca Schoenkopf at Wonkette says “Good Job, Republicans, You Finally Found A Dead Voter!“:

Well, you finally found a dead voter besides the one James O’Keefe found, who wasn’t actually dead. But sad face, that is because your candidate for Pinal County, Arizona, supervisor, was voting for his dead girlfriend for five years. Oops…

Good job, Ms. Schoenkopf, for datapoint #3,487,212 on the “When It Comes to Republican Accusations, It’s Always Projection” graph (and also for filtering one of our most-used acronyms further up the blogworld food chain).

Again I ask: Is there a credible explanation for the fact that the national and state Democratic parties have not been ALL OVER this issue, legislatively and in the press, ever since 2000 when Bush stole his first election?

If the party gives a shit about voter suppression and nullification, this state of affairs makes no sense.

So here we are again, 12 freaking years later.

Gets me really psyched to vote Democratic; the party is such a passionate, tireless promoter of progressive values and policy!

It’s important to note that he was voting his dead girlfriend by absentee ballot by mail for five years. As in, the voter-suppression voter-ID laws that so obviously target the poorest voters were utterly irrelevant and nonresponsive to this Republican’s voter fraud.

Is there a credible explanation for the fact that the national and state Democratic parties have not been ALL OVER this issue, legislatively and in the press, ever since 2000 when Bush stole his first election?

The explanation is that they have been out there, or at least I’ve seen them. Of course, with so many different outrages out there, it’s impossible to focus on just one.

Unlike you, I’m psyched to vote Democratic. I wish the election were tomorrow so I could vote for them right now.

@Yutsano: Actually, the bag of frozen peas (or corn) works surprisingly well. You might just save yourself the cost of the ice pack and keep using it. The only drawback would be the size, but you could use a jumbo sized bag of vegies and then eat them when your back gets better. I deal with a constant ankle/foot problem, so I can sympathize with your pain.

Asshat now whining about foreign media over Assgate:

“NBC News’s First Read blog gives its verdict on Mitt Romney’s Olympic-themed overseas trip as a floor exercise in gymnastics:

So as Romney performed his cartwheel in England, he stepped out of bounds when he questioned London’s readiness for the Olympics. He lost additional points for flubbing the end of the somersault in Israel when he tried to explain the economic differences between Israel and the Palestinian Authority through a cultural prism (that may end up offending Mexican Americans as much as he appeared to offend Palestinians). And after sticking his landing in Poland, his campaign got into a spat with the judges – that is, the reporters following him.

And because why not, here’s some more footage of Assgate, during which a Romney aide appears to audition for the Michael Scott role in The Office.”

I concur that it is projection

The contemporary Right is social Darwinist, and among that crowd a hero is measured by his ability to cheat, lie, steal and kill

I would point out however that the contemporary Right also includes much of the Democratic Party, the ‘social democrats’ of Europe, etc.

I guess “Zeffirelli’s Romeo and Juliet” (as the lead actress in Saturday Night Fever kept calling it, to Travolta’s dismay – that was a good piece of movie dialogue) hasn’t held up too well but man did I fall hopelessly in love with Olivia Hussey’s Juliet some 43 or 44 years ago.

Started work in a long-shot congressional race today. It’s going to be a tough slog. Had to explain the basics of the ACA to around five people this evening. On the one hand, it’s nice to educate people, but at the same time, the fact that so many people still don’t know anything about the landmark legislative achievement of the last fifty years makes me nervous.

In other news, I got another article published. It’s on the strangest sporting event you’ve (probably) never heard of. I’d appreciate the clicks!

Too many states have histories and cultures of dirty electoral politics.

Casting such votes has no material impact on elections. The reality of election fraud is that individuals outside of the electoral system neither have an incentive nor sufficient means to achieve meaningful results. A few dozen votes here or there won’t have any impact – even in races decided by a few dozen votes.

Election fraud is only a threat from within the electoral system. The only meaningful way to change an election is with the kind of scale that is only possible by officials.

I just saw that Gore Vidal has died. He infamously feuded with Norman Mailer and once (maybe on a Dick Cavett show) they were doing their usual verbal jousting when Mailer lost it and decked him. From the floor, Vidal said, “Words fail Norman, once again.”

Why doesn’t our society produce interesting characters like that any longer?
