I know nothing about football, fantasy or otherwise, so I’m just going to post this verbatim from commentor Parrotlover77:

I’m running some “unofficial” Balloon Juice Fantasy Football leagues. I commissioned one of the official leagues last year, but haven’t been able to contact the gentleman who coordinated the whole thing last year and Cole isn’t answering my emails (he’s obviously very busy with the DNC convention coming up). Let’s have some fun anyway. If a FPer wants to bump this to the front page, feel free.

I’m creating two leagues initially, one Points and one H2H. Choose the one you prefer!

Points Only League
Up to 16 participants
Roster: QB, WR, RB, TE, W/R/T, K, DEF, 4 BN
Draft: Thur Aug 30 10:00pm EDT

Join this league if you prefer points leagues, if you are inexperienced with fantasy football, or if you are not sure you can commit to managing your team week to week.

Both have the same scoring rules, which are pretty conventional, but with a few minor adjustments and bonuses to try to make all positions somewhat competitive.

    Ness’s Nightmares have returned to the H2H league. After an incredible 11-2 season last year, a fluke loss in the semi-finals cost them a shot at the championship, leaving them in 3rd place. The team plans to duplicate last year’s success, but with a different story come playoff time.

    Opponents and Giygas beware!

    ETA-I’m leaving the team name as Ness’s Nightmares unless you really want me to change it, but my Yahoo ID/manager name is the same as here, so there shouldn’t be any confusion.

    @Anne – Thank you for bumping this to the front page! Looks like FYWP broke the links, but the H2H league is full, so no matter I guess. :-)

    @MeDrewNotYou – It doesn’t matter. I just thought it would be nice to see who is popping up from the comments into the leagues. Not that anybody would know me since I’m 99.9% a lurker. ;-)

    @Godlesssailor, @Chukwu – I want to start another league, but I need a commissioner. I got too many leagues at this point to do another. Either of you (or anybody else) want to do it? It’s easy. Just need to make sure there’s an even number of total teams before draft, handle any questions that pop up, and make sure nobody cheats. I’ll do all the set up ahead of time.

    The added league seems to have stalled out at three teams, with no new teams since last night. Maybe if we could get this thread bumped back to the front page for the day, so people don’t forget about it?

    I agree. I emailed Anne Laurie again since she was so gracious as to bump it the first time.
