Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

So very ready.

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

I might just take the rest of the day off and do even more nothing than usual.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

White supremacy is terrorism.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

American history and black history cannot be separated.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Fear and negativity are contagious, but so is courage!

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

No Kings: Americans standing in the way of bad history saying “Oh, Fuck No!”

ABL and Heather are at the arena (we only have two sets of creds) so I am going off the grid to have one of my patented solo adventures.

UPDATE by SG: President William Jefferson Clinton is up.  And yes, give some more money at the act blue link.

I want a man to be President who had the good sense to marry Michelle Obama! Awesome line!

Update. DougJ here — give some money to the Kenyan usurper.

Missing a sentence at the end. Should have read “and am planning on eating as much BBQ as I can stuff into my face.”

Come on Cole, do yourself a favor.

And if you see Fund or Mataconis, I suggest bear hug followed by atomic wedgie. Others may insert their own right wing pundits to subject to elementary school bully tactics.

Sad to be missing it live right now, but am eagerly getting my hate on for Ann Rmoney at the moment:

“Women, you need to wake up,” she told the largely female audience at a “Women For Mitt” rally in Findlay, Ohio.

No, Ann, you need to fuck off.

Indeed, Romney’s platform is a disaster for women’s health; Romney doesn’t have the spine to endorse the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act; Romney won’t endorse the pending Violence Against Women Act; Romney took the coward’s way out when Limbaugh targeted Sandra Fluke; Romney has offered support for a “Personhood” measure that’s so extreme it would ban some forms of birth control; Romney intends to destroy the Affordable Care Act, which would be a huge setback millions of women; and Romney’s running mate has one of the worst voting records on women’s issues in Congress.

Yeah pretty much. What a presumptuous, entitled asshole Ann Romney can be.

    @Schlemizel:

when was the last time anyone here said “here is something good the old douche bag wrote”?

Do you ever read any of the “Sully has his good days and his mind can be changed” comments? I’m not going to be assed to spend time doing your jerb for you by searching, but Cole or one of the other FPers gave him a positive nod recently. And he’s back on the blogroll and not in the “Blogs We Mock” category.

I haven’t clicked on a link here to his blog since 2009. But if you think he would wilt away if the BJ commentariat and FPers didn’t give him any linky-love, then by all means, have your little fantasy.

Sandra Fluke gave a really impressive speech. Then, startlingly, for me was fellow Pittsburgher (who knew?) the founder of Costco. Never shopped there; there’s none around here in any event. But, wow, who would have thought there’d be a mainstream CEO going for Pres. Obama.

First time I’ve ever heard Eliabeth Warren give a speech. She truly sounds like she comes from OK except really different politics. I like her stand up, fresh populism – not demagoguery – but a real debater.

Is pickup-truck Brown going to actually debate her? Probably not I would guess.

This is a great page for seeing who is scheduled in what order – just make sure to refresh the page fairly often because they are juggling folks around like crazy.

Where do they get these callers to C-Span? I continued letting the livestream run after everything was over, and every single caller, bar none, has been a complete wet blanket. “Obama promised he’d fix everything immediately, he didn’t get it done in the first two years [WTF?] so I’m not voting for him,” “Obama promised he’d bring change and that if he didn’t he wouldn’t run again, he didn’t bring it and he’s running again, I’m so disappointed.” Enough to make one pick up a fork and get stabby.

P.S. I’m an east coast transplant to the west coast and I’m still not used to being three hours earlier, so I missed all the speakers before Clinton but, wowser, I’m glad I didn’t miss him. He had me at hello.
