Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Eh, that’s media spin. biden’s health is fine and he’s doing a good job.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

This fight is for everything.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

No one could have predicted…

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

This really is a full service blog.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

This blog will pay for itself.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

@schrodinger’s cat: Obama is sometimes briefed on intelligence issues in person, sometimes he reads the briefing himself. He can read and understand things on a level that allowed him to kill bin Laden, something Cheney and Bush couldn’t do in eight years. This upsets Dick Cheney, and for some reason he thinks the rest of us give a shit.

    dmsilev

    September 11, 2012 at 8:23 pm

@schrodinger’s cat: Something about Obama ignoring national security briefings and that’s why Obama felt entitled to claim some credit for the killing of bin Laden.

Given the Bush administration’s attitude towards al Qaeda-oriented intelligence pre-9/11, it’s a truly impressive display of chutzpah.

Hey John Cole: Orly Taitz is suing a gazillion people (including media companies like CNN, MSNBC, Clear Channel, Forbes and The Daily Beast – oh and she’s suing a Georgia Judge too!) to try to get the state of California (CA District Court) to change the West Virginia Primary. :P

Just thought you’d like to know!

“I’m grateful to him (Romney) for formulating his stance so clearly because he has once again proven the correctness of our approach to missile defense problems,” Putin told reporters, according to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
    ____
“The most important thing for us is that even if he doesn’t win now, he or a person with similar views may come to power in four years. We must take that into consideration while dealing with security issues for a long perspective,” he said, speaking after a meeting with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, according to Interfax news agency.

Former CIA Chief: Obama’s War on Terror Same as Bush’s, But With More Killing

President Barack Obama has closely followed the policy of his predecessor, President George W. Bush, when it comes to tactics used in the “war on terror” — from rendition, targeted killings, state secrets, Guantanamo Bay to domestic spying, according to Michael Hayden, Bush’s former director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency.

Heh. Redstate will ban anyone who references fact checkers:

I’ve pretty much had it with the grotesque turn the various “fact checking” organizations have taken. “Politifact” is little more than a bunch of shills, devoid of even the vestiges of integrity, that sling about “pants on fire” ratings to any GOP or conservative politician. The Washington Post is no exception.
    …
In the past we’ve had a policy of banning people who argue in bad faith. As Politifact, and the whole menagerie of “fact checking” organizations have demonstrated themselves to be slavishly attached to the Administration’s nether regions I will consider quoting any of them, in a non-ironic way, as being evidence of arguing in bad faith and worthy of a ban.

Apparently, Colbert is no longer satire.

Here in San Diego, developer and pro-Prop 8 guy Doug Manchester, who recently bought the Union-Tribune, has now purchased the North County Times, giving him control of the only two dailies in the county. Some gems from last Sunday’s U-T editorial, warning what will happen if Obama is re-elected:

    The U-T sees $8- to $10-a-gallon gasoline in 2016.

We predict Israel will be attacked by the surrounding Arab terror states as the U.S. retreats from Israel’s defense. Israel’s very existence will be in jeopardy.

We predict that, with Obamacare, if you are over 65 a ride to Mexico will become commonplace, as there will be rationed care in the U.S. Death panels and other rationing plans will limit care.

As Obama’s war on God and life continues, we predict an effort to have late-term abortions paid for by taxpayers – even at a time when more than 60 percent of America believes there should be restrictions on abortion. We ask: Who stands for the life and rights of the child?

We even predict an effort to get “In God we Trust” removed from U.S. symbols, including our money. …

America is a great country. We love our country, but we are frightened as well. We do not want America to drift toward European socialism. We want an America built upon these principles of our Founding Fathers.

(Damn blockquotes giving me fits … )

I also have an LA Times subscription too, so I guess that is my dead tree media fix from now on.
