Sweet noodly FSM, I adore Sarah Silverman. Add in her Nana and it’s full of win.

Haha, yay Sarah! The firearms tutorial at the end is particularly funny. And as one would expect, Ms. Silverman is getting the usual, um, love, over in the always classy You-Tube comments. Hmm, I wonder what it is about her that brings forth such passion from the wingnut crowd? A mystery, it is…

(I put this in the comments 2 days ago :P )

Actual voter fraud.

Whoever compiled Wonkbook must had bowl of Wheaties this morning, because they dispensed with the niceties and called a spade a spade: The voter fraud fraud.

@TheMightyTrowel:
Yes, I watched it then. It’s cute.

@desertflower: Some day somebody is going to fix phone cameras so they always shoot landscape regardless of how you hold it.
But to address the content of it, somebody needs to go to jail.
jwb
@desertflower: I thought immediately of this video when I saw this post. It’s pretty damning. But with Republican talking points I always presume now that it is projection: inevitably they accuse the Democrats of what they are in fact doing.
jwb
@MikeJ: What, you don’t like the slit on the world aesthetic?
Villago Delenda Est
Totally OT, but applicable to Rethuglicans in general:
The Gropinator discusses how Maria Shriver confronted him over his secret son.
Money shot from said article:
Todd
@Villago Delenda Est:
I can’t help feeling a little bad for the guy – he’s like an overgrown steroid pumped 10 year old boy who doesn’t really mean any harm, but he’s also got some self-awareness.
jibeaux
@Todd: Well, I don’t, because Maria was apparently willing, even after all that, to try to make things work with him if he went to counseling with her. He went once and refused to go again. So what he really wants is for her to come back and stay his doormat and for him to never have to change a thing.
RaflW
As a friend on Facebook said the other day, she says “f*ck you in the @sshole” like its a bad thing, but other than that, the whole video is full of win.
Cassidy
@Todd: He’s also doing a movie, right now, that’s supposed to be turning his action hero persona on it’s head; reinventing as the director put it. Maybe he’s a in a reflective mood.
dance around in your bones
Since my grandkids call me Nana, this video cracked me up when I saw it a couple of days ago (thanks, O Mighty Trowel!).
I’mma get a gun and hold it gangster-style! So’s I can VOTE!
Schlemizel
@jibeaux:
so, like the original poster implied – just like every wingnut we know 8-{D
Svensker
The only problem with this video is that you can’t show it to any of the people who might be helped by it. A lot of people I know would be completely turned off by the language and not be able to get passed that. Cute for the already convinced, though.
Rathskeller
@Svensker: I totally agree. I have a lot of conservative in-laws in Western PA, but this link cant go to them. And she overuses the swearing, it’s weak humor.
The Committee of Seventy site is better. Send your PA pals to http://www.seventy.org
jibeaux
Well, there’s the Simpsons trailer, which is clean and funny and tackles voter suppression…
Villago Delenda Est
@jibeaux:
Brilliant, as usual. “At least I’ve got a steady job!” (sees Ned Flanders working next to him) “Doh!” (falls out the window of the factory into a waiting net).
comrade scott's agenda of rage
@jibeaux:
OMG, that’s the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while.
“…he promised me death panels but Grandpa is still alive.”
Brilliant.
bjacques
Haha, they’re both pretty good. I’m putting up the Sarah Silverman one on Facebook. If anyone’s more offended by F-bombs than by voter suppression, tough.
Thor Heyerdahl
@jibeaux: I was reading the cartoon campaign signs as Homer was walking in to vote. I nearly spit out my drink with this one:
“Romney – I have a house in your state”
Joel
@desertflower: Christ, that’s brazen. I hope this gains traction (looks like 120+ thousand views so far…)
AxelFoley
Man, the things I’d do to Ms. Silverman…
John
Desertflower’s video is offensive as hell and points to an ongoing problem with the voter registration system, but it is not an actual example of in-person voter fraud of the kind that is supposedly addressed by the identification-based voter suppression laws. That’s because in-person voter fraud is so rare that it is nearly impossible to find documented examples. The argument shouldn’t be that Republicans are the ones who really do it. The argument is that these laws are a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist, so they must have been passed for some other reason. Specifically, they were passed in order to reduce the ability of left-leaning demographics to vote. But that video is still really annoying.

@TheMightyTrowel: And I watched it then, from your link. :-)

The real voter fraud in Florida.
Arclite
Heh, great vid by SS. With over a million views, this really goes far to raise awareness of how the Repubs are trying to game the system.
