After working in the yard, I took a shower after kickoff at 0-0…

WTF has gotten into Arizona and Atlanta?

@The Dangerman: Well, Rambo could have picked the first long pass and then we fumbled giving them great field position. Throw in a punt return for 6 and that was about it. I really don’t lay it on the defense. South Carolina kicked our ass and deserved what they got. The only bright spot would be if they don’t win the east and we go because we have this totally lame fucking schedule. I don’t know who it would kill worse, the genius or Corner Stone.

Ah, yes, the 49er “great” era… As a Rams fan, I will acknowledge that the Niners drafted well for a stretch, but those last two or even three championships I will argue was a little like the Yankees’ championships: purchased. Ken Norton, Jr., Deion Sanders, et al running over to the Bay Area for a big paycheck and a (comparatively) easy ring.
I’m not deluded enough to think that the other teams I follow (having grown up in So Cal) don’t do the same things: the Lakers, Dodgers, Angels… But I will argue that the L.A. Rams, for the most part, put together some very good teams with the draft. The St. Louis Rams are are a surprising 3-2 with a team that isn’t bank-rolled by a big spender.
Yes, Niner fans, I AM jealous of all those rings, but I also maintain Edward DeBartolo, Jr. bought two rings at least.

Well, I enjoyed the Niners/Bills game. Now I am watching the end of the Denver/NE game, and am reminded that I look an awful lot like Peyton Manning. This would be less sad for me if I were as rich as he is, and if I were a guy.

@raven: I’ve always wondered about this. Do ducks not bump their ass when they land? How about turkeys?
There has to be some type of ungraceful winged animal that bumps something when they land.
So the DCCC has not given any money and the Democratic Party of Florida passed, which I would consider something of an endorsement: according to Wingnut anti-ACA Krusader, Ted Yoho’s own internal polling, J.R. Gaillot is within 5 points of Yoho. Even better? Gaillot beats Yoho by over 20 points among voters with name recognition.
He really needs your support to keep this extremist wingnut, Yoho, out of Congress.
Gaillot is running pro-ACA, pro-economic development, and against gov’t peering into your bedroom.
Also turns out he’s an old New Yorker. He is actually a really cool dude and extremely likeable which might be why he is making so much progress knocking on doors. He’s racked up 22,000 miles on his car in 6 months.

Hey, Corner Stone… I held out for a while, too, regarding Gangnam Style. Finally, it seemed the cosmos wanted me to hear the damn thing (as I kept encountering its mention). “Gangnam Style” just refers to a song by some Korean fellow — it makes fun of a lot of the excesses associated with American music videos. The tune is catchy enough (in an annoying earworm sort of way).
Similarly, I had never heard the name “Mumford and Sons” until about a month ago; I’ve heard it, read it, encountered links for it seemingly dozens of time in the last few weeks. I finally clicked on one of those links today (maybe over at Little Green Footballs, I don’t recall)…. I don’t know, it didn’t rock my world, but then again, I’m more of a Music from the Hearts of Space kind of guy now….
ETA: Not “yours” specifically, but as a warning to all other bird-named teams. Like the team we meet up with on Thursday, which we hate almost as much as our sister city in the east.

@efgoldman: And Unitas played in a era where it was pretty much open season on quarterbacks. Now they have so many rules to protect the passer it’s ridiculous. Onrushing defensive linemen have to alter their direction after the quarterback has thrown the ball. If they run into the quarterback, it’s a 15-yard roughing-the-quarterback penalty. It doesn’t even have to be a vicious hit in order to earn a penalty call. A blow that comes a second or more after the quarterback has thrown the ball will result in a penalty.
This rule and others weren’t in effect in Unitas’ day. He took his licks. And he didn’t slide to a stop to avoid a tackle; he ran headlong into the defense. That’s what quarterbacks did.
