Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

Giving up is unforgivable.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

We do not need to pander to people who do not like what we stand for.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Text STOP to opt out of updates on war plans.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

Fucking consultants! (of the political variety)

Went to bed and fell asleep, the Tunch jumped on my head, so I woke up (for obvious reasons). Lay there for a while thinking about my buddy Mary, who was just down for Homecoming, and texted me today that her mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Sleepless ensued. So I broke out something that used to put me to bed in my teens:

When was the last time you heard that?

*** Update ***

Apparently my musical selection was uncool. I’m not going to start playing Yes, Little Feat, the GD, the Stones, Zep, Queen, and all the other music I loved as a teen, but I will give you this:

If that isn’t “cool” enough for you, just eat a bag of dicks and talk about Andrew Sullivan.

Here’s something interesting, the first ever clinic to offer abortion services of any kind in Ireland will soon open in Belfast. Abortion is completely illegal in the Republic, and is almost illegal in the North.

    Chipping away, at least.

So, DailyKos has decided to change their site again and change the “new” post designation so that it resets every time you change browsers or computers. Basically, they are making their site state-of-the-art for 2003 with no warning to any users including the ones who paid money for that site. I just want to say that I appreciate that John soliciting input on this site before making changes and listening to users when the changes suck.

On a much happier note – the Q polls are out too and Obama leads by 3 in WI, 5 in VA and is behind 1 in CO. Good news all around.

Just out from NBC/WSJ/Marist, three new state polls.

    Florida: Obama 48, Romney 47
    Ohio: Obama 51, Romney 45
    Virginia: Romney 48, Obama 47

@The prophet Nostradumbass: Meanwhile, it’s being chipped away at in the other direction in the US.

Did anyone watch Anderson Cooper’s “keeping them honest” segment tonight about Romney’s abortion flip-flop? The Republican they had on there said something really stupid about how women care about this long list of health concerns like cancer, heart disease, and other ailments but do not care about abortion because that’s not really part of women’s health and has been misrepresented as such by the liberals or some crap like that. Pissed me off, because it was so insanely stupid and dismissive of the issue. It had a “real women, not you sluts” feel in her tone.

Saw Bill Clinton tonight in Tempe, AZ, speaking in support of Richard Carmona for US Senate. He was very good but smaller than I expected. He definitely instilled in me more enthusiasm for Carmona than I had before. Will post video as soon as I organize it.

Charlotte sleeps on my legs at night, and if I move too much, she bites me. I can usually convince Keaton to sleep on a pillow above my head, but there was one night when he decided that he needed to wrap himself around my head to groom me.

In crafting news, I finished the shawl I want to wear to a work party on Saturday night. As is normal for shawls with lace, right now it looks like a pile of wet noodles, but it will look much nicer once I wash and block it into shape. Next up, needlepointing a coordinating shawl pin.

Stewart hammered Willard last night, so he had to balance it out tonight. You can’t be the next Broder by just going after the wingnuts.

The Big Bird commercial is getting more criticism than Romney claiming he can pay for trillions of dollars in new spending by cutting PBS funding.

Oh, Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I remember Tshirts with lyrics to “Relax” on them being banned at my middle school Which mystified the students. We were young, it was the 1980’s; a lot of us didn’t understand what was meant by “When you want to come?” But boy, our teachers did. Kids got sent home for wearing “Relax” t-shirts.

Sigh. I’m up late thanks to a gig recording audiobooks from home coinciding with my apartment building renting the retail space. The banging and clanging from 8-6 every day sounds like it’s right inside the apartment (I’m two floors up). Nothing like sitting in your closet at 2AM.

On the bright side, I’m doing a bunch of D&D novels. My 12-year-old self thinks I’m really cool. ;)

@Calouste: aye, Romney is pretty much fucked without Ohio, and I have a hunch about Florida.

@TexasMango: he still has his moments, or his writers do, and Jessica Williams is pretty freakin’ awesome. But tonight you could feel his Broderism all over the opening piece. And the whole, “look how open-minded and thoughtful I am, I’m hanging out with Bill O’Reilly” thing is weird and kinda sad.

Yes is always cool! Problem is, too many people think only 3 chord music is rock. Silly people. Rock can have complex meters, multiple chord changes, and be intellectually challenging.

Of course, rock can always be 3 chord pop too. It’s all good.

Pondering over which was the better live act at their peak – Little Feat or J. Geils Band. Little Feat perhaps better musically, but Peter Wolf had no rivals at inciting a crowd to absolute frenzy. As witness J. Geils Band’s first appearance at IU’s Assembly Hall opening for Rod Stewart, who they blew off the stage with ease, and their second appearance at same when they damn near got concerts at Assembly Hall banned. On the other hand, seeing Little Feat parade on stage and light into Fat Man in the Bathtub in Louisville the night before the Kentucky Derby was pretty fun too….at least from what I can recall.

Sidebar: I’m really coming to detest sleepless nights.

“Give me Liberty, or Give me Death!” – Patrick Henry

What a brilliant ruling by the United States Supreme Court on the affordable health care act (Obamacare). Stunningly brilliant in my humble opinion. I could not have ask for a better ruling on a potentially catastrophic healthcare act than We The People Of The United States received from our Supreme Court.

If the court had upheld the constitutionality of the individual mandate under the commerce clause it would have meant the catastrophic loss of the most precious thing we own. Our individual liberty. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Supreme Court.

There is no mandate to buy private for-profit health insurance. There is only a nominal tax on income eligible individuals who don’t have health insurance. This is a HUGE! difference. And I suspect that tax may be subject to constitutional challenge as it ripens.

This is a critically important distinction. Because under the commerce clause individuals would have been compelled to support the most costly, dangerous, unethical, morally repugnant, and defective type of health insurance you can have. For-profit health insurance, and the for-profit proxies called private non-profits and co-ops.

Equally impressive in the courts ruling was the majorities willingness to throw out the whole law if the court could not find a way to sever the individual mandate under the commerce clause from the rest of the act. Bravo! Supreme Court.

Thanks to the Supreme Court we now have an opportunity to fix our healthcare crisis the right way. Without the obscene delusion that Washington can get away with forcing Americans to buy a costly, dangerous and highly defective private product (for-profit health insurance).

During the passage of ACA/Obamacare some politicians said that the ACA was better than nothing. But the truth was that until the Supreme Court fixed it the ACA/Obamacare was worse than nothing at all. It would have meant the catastrophic loss of your precious liberty for the false promise and illusion of healthcare security under the deadly and costly for-profit healthcare system that dominates American healthcare.

As everyone knows now. The fix for our healthcare crisis is a single payer system (Medicare for all) like the rest of the developed world has. Or a robust Public Option choice available to everyone on day one that can quickly lead to a single payer system.

Talk of privatizing/profiteering from Medicare or social security is highly corrupt and Crazy! talk. And you should cut the political throats of any politicians giving lip service to such an asinine idea. Medicare should be expanded, not privatized or eliminated.

We still have a healthcare crisis in America. With hundreds of thousands dieing needlessly every year in America. And a for-profit medical industrial complex that threatens the security and health of the entire world. The ACA/Obamacare will not fix that.

The for-profit medical industrial complex has already attacked the world with H1N1 killing thousands, and injuring millions. And more attacks are planned for profit, and to feed their greed.

To all of you who have fought so hard to do the kind and right thing for your fellow human beings at a time of our greatest needs I applaud you. Be proud of your-self.

God Bless You my fellow human beings. I’m proud to be one of you. You did good.

See you on the battle field.

    Sincerely

    jacksmith – WorkingClass :-)
