I’m way behind on this news, but I don’t want the debate coverage to eclipse the fact that Dinesh D’Souza, noted fundagelical racist, was introducing a woman 23 years his junior (he’s 51) as his “fiancée” even though he was still married at the time. D’Souza also stayed in the same hotel room as the woman while he was traveling, but no worries people, “nothing happened”. His new girlfriend, Odie Joseph II, is a defender of traditional marriage:
D’Souza styles himself as a fierce defender of marriage against gays and lesbians and it appears that Odie Joseph II, seen here with D’Souza’s new book, also has strong views on marriage, cohabitation and divorce. In a post on a conservative blog, she rails against feminists and “RINO men” for ruining marriage and traditional morality. “Feminists/liberals who intended to destroy and transform that sacred cornerstone of American society—the traditional family” she explains, adding that today’s state of the family proves that “the 19th Amendment was never the best idea ever.” She blames feminist academics for increases in adultery, failed marriages and cohabitation, and even goes on to say that America’s children “are going the way of black ghetto society” thanks to feminists and Ke$ha.
The second Odie Joseph is a bit like good old Tagg Romney. It’s only adultery, or lying, when some despicable blah or liberal does it. We should lock those fucking feminists up so there are enough spare rooms at the Days Inn for her to use whenever she and Dinesh want to have a long, hard, sweaty session of doing nothing.
I do believe Mr. D’Souza will pay a price for this. Remember Randall Terry from Operation Rescue? He, too, openly dumped his wife of many years for a younger model, and his support pretty much collapsed after that.
If you’re a fundie leader, you don’t have to avoid sins of the flesh. But you do have to be discreet about it.
Seeing as how conservative D’Souza is, I’m a little surprised he wasn’t sleeping with another man.
I was thrilled to be able to share that story with a FB friend yesterday, who was urging people to watch to *hole’s movie.
Odie Joseph II? Is that really her name?
23 years his junior? They’re called hookers.
Feminist academics have superpowers to change society, just like gays have power over the hurricanes and other natural disasters.
comrade scott's agenda of rage
I don’t think this will evolve into any long lasting damage on that asshat. Classic mid-life crisis turning in the old model
car, wife, for something shiny and new from the showroom.
As always, IOKIYAR.
If Diaper Dave Vitter can get away with covorting with prostitutes, somebody with a similar “Q Profile” like D’Souza will skate.
The Ancient Randonneur
Jeez, thanks. In the last thread I get a picture of Barnicle, Halperin and Scarborough in little black dresses and high heels in my head. Now I have a naked, sweaty Souza.
Today is going to be awesome.
What/who the fuck is “Ke$ha”? Is that a hip-hopper to whom I’m unfamiliar?
Cool! I’m a feminist academic — I had no idea I was so powerful…
More seriously, I suspect that this will be the moment that D’Souza, like Herman Cain before him, discovers for the first time that his skin is brown.
Wait, this is an Onion article, right?
Conservatism can never fail. It can only BE failed.
@comrade scott’s agenda of rage: I am not sure. Notice what color D’Souza is in comparison with Vitter.
I think Dinesh will survive less well on this ‘scandal’ to the right wing than Grover Norquist. Also a notably white person.
Perfect screen name/comment combinations. Kudos to both of you.
“and the preacher looked so baffled when I asked him why he dressed…..”

@Mark S.: What does Garfield Steve think of this?
John (not McCain)
Are there any conservative women who aren’t home-wrecking whores?
@Mark S.: She may rail against feminist academics but the use of that “II” sounds pretty radical to me unless she was a male at birth.
If it weren’t for the gays and feminists, D’souza and Miss II would still be happily married today…er, wait. I certainly hope someone will ask how this could happen? I certainly am confused.
@Princess: i beg to differ. He serves a very important function: he writes in complete sentences and uses academic words while skimming the gutters of the political world for stories that can percolate up through the Right Wing Noise Machine. He did not make money by being a personality, but by writing stuff that the personalities can use in their shows. he gets his money from the the institutions and perhaps speaking. As for the speaking, just ask Ralph Reed about the fatality of moral transgressions. He is going nowhere
@John (not McCain): Lindsey Graham.
@beltane: Maybe she’s a clone? When he was 20, young D’Souza commissioned a genetic research firm with creating a future wife for him, and finally the work has come to fruition.
peach flavored shampoo
Fixed, right? Am I missing something, or didn’t she just:
A) Sleep in a hotel with a man to whom she’s not married (cohab)
B) Said man was married at the time (adultery)
C) Said man is getting divorced (failed marriage)
A trifecta of hypocrisy. A Tripocrisy.
@Mardam: In pre-feminist days, Dinesh would be unfaithfully married to his first wife forever while Queen Odie II would be a fallen woman, a whore, with no career option other than straight-up prostitution once her married lover grew tired of her.
@Mark B.: maybe she is his current wife who went to the future years ago, only now to return in the form of his young wife so that it was not adultery at all, but the result of time dilation effects, thus the fault of Albert Einstein, a noted godless commie liberal. Q.E.D.
He was. Look at that picture: Odie is a younger version of Adam’s Apple Coulter.
I’m sure a look through her luggage would reveal a strap-on the size of a $5 Footlong.
He’s also a brown person who defends
colonialismwhite racism. That can be a lucrative career path for someone with no moral scruples.
D’Souza? She must not have known Cole is available.
@Mark S.: whatever else happens, cant let the masser’s house burn.
@comrade scott’s agenda of rage: Whole different context here. D’Souza has been making money off credulous evangelicals lately. This is not the leadership that does whatever it wants, but discreetly. It is the foot soldiers of the movement who actually believe their leaders are pure and sinless. They are proven wrong all the time, but in evangelical land they never cease being outraged. D’Souza’s in real danger of becoming toast with then.
Odie Hugh Manatee
Maybe Odie was looking for her Nermal and settled for Abnermal?
Is her name really Odie the second? There has to be a sex change operation in there somewhere.
Hilarious response from Mr. DSouza on the Fox news site.
I sought out advice about whether it is legal to be engaged prior to being divorced and I was informed that it is. Denise and I were trying to do the right thing. I had no idea that it is considered wrong in Christian circles to be engaged prior to being divorced, even though in a state of separation and in divorce proceedings. Obviously I would not have introduced Denise as my fiancé at a Christian apologetics conference if I had thought or known I was doing something wrong. But as a result of all this, and to avoid even the appearance of impropriety, Denise and I have decided to suspend our engagement.
Too bad you can’t see HER pumps!
“Haha!” say liberals, delighted to catch another family-values conservative in a blatant act of hypocrisy. Colbert and Stewart do nothing but this every night. What we don’t seem to realize is that this NEVER HAS ANY EFFECT WHATSOEVER. There is no price to be paid on the right for hypocrisy, it’s the coin of the realm. As Altemeyer’s “The Authoritarians” points out, what these folks SAY to their followers and in public is much, much more important than what they actually DO, and if you mouth the right phrases in public you can do whatever you want on the downlow (or even the semi-up) and nobody on the right will mind in the least.
I’m sympathetic to the idea that Ke$ha is destroying the country.
@gregor: ah, a rain delay. this guys lies for a living, so lying about the way he lives should not be hard.
Here’s the Odie I know and love!
Oh. My. Fucking. God.
I’m at a loss for words. Just….WOW.
The mistress’ name is Denise Odie Joseph. She looks Indian in the pics. My guess based on her name is that she’s either an Anglo-Indian or a Goan. Bill Maher’s going to have fun with this story on Friday.
Dinesh D’Souza was one of the people who went after Clinton during the Lewinsky stuff. Remember the “Think of the wittle childreennnnn!” Well, D’Souza’s 16-17 year old daughter Danielle’s got a book coming out – “Y God” where she talks about being a christian. Her daddy’s starting her out young on this grifting the rubes bizness. She’s got a Youtube video out. etc. etc.
What a hypocrite.
Ke$ha is just alright with me, for nothing else than co-producing this.
Oh, and subtle post title. Nice.
comrade scott's agenda of rage
He and I are the same age and I’ve been aware of his writings since we were both 20 and you’ve just described his career. It was clear 30 years ago that’s exactly what this asshat was going to do and sure enough, he’s stuck to it.
I remain in the Cargo (#34) camp on this, particularly in light of D’Souza’s “explanation” and backpeddling. It’s the usual “beseech for forgiveness” and in this case plead a little ignorance. Of course it’s hysterical that his words make it clear he considers himself a non-Christian so I wonder if the American Taliban will pick up on that and ask themselves why they’re listening to someone who’s clearly a heathen (and brown skinned on top of that).
Or something like that.Suffern Ace
@Punchy: He can read between the lines to discover Obamas secret hidden thoughts, but basic folkways of the peasantry escape him.
I suspect the second Mrs. D’Souza’s point about feminists causing adultery is that her man’s first wife isn’t traditional enough, and thus forced her victimized husband to seek solace with a real woman. But getting into these people’s heads is not my strong suit.
Her name is Odie Joseph II? For real?
@Mark S.: Yes. It’s short for ‘Odious.’
IIRC, D’Souza is relatively new to the talibangelical grift circuit. Economic “American exceptionalism” grift has a slightly different set of rules versus evangelical grift.
Given that most of America only sees D’ D’ when he is presented to them on Fox news I doubt that there will be much pushback, or fallout. He’s useful and as long as he’s useful they will use him. Even Ralph (I fucked over Native American Casino Owners for other Casino Owners but oppose Gambling) Reed is back on top.
@Thlayli: Is Ke$ha a symptom or a cause? Please note: it is not her presumptive immorality to which I object; it is the appallingness of her autotuned music.
That’s not quite right. Isn’t he the head of the Evangelical King’s College in New York that was founded recently on a strictly “no sex for you guys” basis in New York City?
Sure it has an effect. It gives us a good laugh. Now piss off; we’re having fun here.
Belafon (formerly anonevent)
I see Odie believes in the Newt Gingrich style of traditional marriage. Wait until shes 20 years older and D’Souza finds a new one.
I blame the south. Adultery and divorce are higher in the south than any other part of the country.
comrade scott's agenda of rage
That explains a few things then. I guess he worked that other silver vein to exhaustion and has headed onto new pastures.
comrade scott's agenda of rage
There’s a techincal term to describe women who accompany married men up to their hotel rooms while they’re travelling on business.
James Carville still has a standing offer to pay anyone to give him an example of a Republican who traded in his first wife for an older model, doesn’t he?
Can we go ahead and assert that any politician/pundit who harps over and over and over again about liberal decadence and the threat to traditional marriage can simply be assumed to be stepping out on their spouse or in the process of wrecking someone’s home, much like how politicians/pundits who rail against homosexuality end up getting caught on all fours in the back room of a gay nightclub somewhere?
I believe that’s where the problem started.
@gregor: He sough advice on whether it’s legal to be engaged to someone before getting a divorce? Because putting a ring on it is somehow a legally binding contract???
@comrade scott’s agenda of rage: He’s a Catholic who’s been attending an evangelical megachurch for a few years.
@aimai: he hasn’t been at king’s college that long.
Well said, Cargo.

Believe it or not, I remember when Jonah Goldberg announced on NRO, like back in 2000 or something, that he and his soon to be future wife were moving in together before marriage. From what I remember, he basically brushed off the concerns of social conservatives with, well, a brush off.
Seriously? He uses the Costanza Excuse?
Anatoliĭ Lъudьvigovich Bzyp (formerly Horrendo Slapp, Jimperson Zibb, Duncan Dönitz, Otto Graf von Pfmidtnöchtler-Pízsmőgy, Mumphrey, et al.)
I hate that fuckface. He’s the creature who outed gay students to their parents when he was at Dartmouth because, well, I don’t know, I guess they must have deserved to have their lives shattered by this smug, smarmy, feculent little weasel. I don’t like violence, really I don’t, but, I swear, this guy needs a serious beating. Everything about him is repellent: his looks–which, to be fair, he can’t help; his oily voice; his soulless beliefs; his two-faced life. God, I hope his career withers and dies. There’s no way to even put into words the loathing I feel for this oozing, purulent, festering, gangrenous pustule.
@Odie Hugh Manatee: Admit it, this is your daughter, isn’t it.
Seriously? He uses the <a href="“>Costanza Excuse?
(Oh god damn it. I can’t get this link right to save my life)
Seriously? The Costanza Excuse?
comrade scott's agenda of rage
Interesting then that he should use the phrase “Christian circles”. Just shows that he’s a grifter…but we all knew that.
The fundie doctrine of “faith not acts” is a big help here. The logic is that we all suck irredeemably, and there’s nothing we can do to change that, so the only that matters is whether we’ve joined the Jeebus team. If we have, then none of the wrong we do matters.
God, I am so stupid. There I always thought that no sex before marriage meant that sex in marriage was limited to the person you married. Turns out marriage is a general license for sex. So, Dinesh may be in the clear. But the witch sure ain’t. Sorry, Dinesh, she’s up for stoning on Friday.
What a craven little dweeb he is. (And not to rag on someone’s looks, but with those ears, it looks like someone left the saloon doors open.)
“Nothing happened.” That’s how a sixteen year old talks.
I do like how “seen here with D’Souza’s new book” actually means “seen here in a low-cut, very short dress and bleach-blonde hair”. I doubt D’Souza would be enthused about his daughter (who, it says upthread, is 16 years old and an outspoken Christian) dressing like that.
This doesn’t look at all like the result of a socially inept man’s midlife crisis.
I have never understood the conservative hate and loathing for the concept of cohabitation. Maybe it’s just my practical side, but when my wife and I moved in together when we started dating the next 5 years weren’t some drunken hedonistic debauchery. It was two people who liked eachother figuring out if we could live together for the rest of our lives. As far as I’m concerned if you’re going to sign a contract a dame a vow that states “as long as you both shall live” you should sure as fuck know if you can live up to the deal.
I’ve often wondered, do conservates love the idea of a failed and bitter marriage more than they do happy families? It sure seems like it.
@Anatoliĭ Lъudьvigovich Bzyp (formerly Horrendo Slapp, Jimperson Zibb, Duncan Dönitz, Otto Graf von Pfmidtnöchtler-Pízsmőgy, Mumphrey, et al.):
Also the guy who says “they” hate “us” because of our sinful lifestyle (HEH – ironic hearing that now) and the solution is to show them that not all America’s blue state but some of it’s moral and godly just like them.
Funny how THAT never got called “apologizing for America.”

Michelle Goldberg highlights the passage from D’Souza’s book on Obama where he maliciously trashes the President’s mother (and note also his apparent reference for pint-sized women):
“D’Souza argues that part of the reason Ann Dunham sent Obama to live with her parents in Hawaii was so she could pursue affairs with Indonesian men. “Ann’s sexual adventuring may seem a little surprising in view of the fact that she was a large woman who kept getting larger,” he writes. On the next page, he continues, “Learning about Ann’s sexual adventures in Indonesia, I realized how wrong I had been to consider Barack Obama Sr. the playboy … Ann … was the real playgirl, and despite all her reservations about power, she was using her American background and economic and social power to purchase the romantic attention of third-world men.”
There is no evidence for any of this—D’Souza mentions the name of exactly one man who Dunham had a relationship with after her divorce.”
Someone give that young lady a sandwich.
Zapruder F. Mashtots, D.D.S. (Mumphrey, et al.)
The weird things is that I don’t even really want to see these asswipes get fucked (metaphorically, or literally– ewww). It isn’t that I want to see them disgraced and cast aside, though I’ll fess up here that it would be satisfying in a way. But that isn’t really the point. Nothing really worthwhile ever comes of that.
No,what I’d really like to see is for these dickwads to learn a little humility and maybe find some self-awareness. I’d like to believe that these people have it in them to grow a little bit, that they might understand what two-faced lives they’ve led, and maybe try to become better people and spend a little less time shrieking about the motes in other people’s eyes. I’d like to see them understand that they might have been wrong about some things and feel a little healthy shame. And if you’re a little bitter and angry and feel like you’d like a little vengeance–and I do feel that way–then it seems like what I outlined above woould really be the best punishment of all for these turds. And, even better, it’s punishment that has some likelihood of bringing these people some redemption.
To avoid even the appearance of impropriety? Dude, sorry, but that particular email can’t be recalled.
As for suspending your engagement, that may be a damn long suspension. If Odie has even a modicum of sense – which is questionable, under the circumstances – she’ll note this is probably not an auspicious beginning to a long term relationship.
All too true. It only counts if it has to do with teh ghey or they’re found hanging in a wetsuit. Compare and contrast Ted Haggard (crystal meth and rentboys) and David Vitter (expensive hookers and diaper fetish).
Isn’t he the kind of Catholic who bitches about all the “cafeteria Catholics” who decide which orders from Rome they’re planning to follow? Do you suppose somebody ought to remind him how the pope feels about:
3) Re-marriage (but I repeat myself)
I have some advice for Denis Odie (or Odile) Joseph II: If he stepped out on his wife with you, he’ll probably step out on you with some one else. That’s just a fact. He’s done it once (that we know of) and he’ll no doubt do it again.
As to that divorce: According to one article I saw (the one at the Christian news site), he didn’t actually start divorce proceedings until the day he told the reporter he was getting one. Who knows how long he was stalling taking action on that front.
I found some pictures of his wife on the web. She is also rail thin, so I would say he likes them skin and bones with no padding.
I find him a ridiculous person.
Quick, someone ask David Brooks if this is the type of moral lassitude that causes economic hardships for the poor and unemployment. It always seems Brooks pegs our national problems on poor morality and lack of character, so I guess we can now blame the national debt on Dinesh.
My guess is that in his mind putting a ring on it make it “OK” for them to f**k.
@Lurking Canadian: And that is why they invented headphones.
@Thlayli: Perhaps, but when did she become black?
@Comrade Mary: Thank you for making my day. That is one of the best things ever to come from the Internet.
@Cargo: So we should do what? Ignore it because they don’t police their own? You mock us for mocking them? We’re the bad guys here, the object of your scorn and ridicule? Jesu Christe, a little fucking perspective if you will.
@peach flavored shampoo: Don’t blame poor Ms Joseph. After all, the 19th Ammendment made her do it.
Herbal Infusion Bagger
As they say, a when a man like this marries his mistress he creates a job opening.
@Rob in Buffalo: Yep. And our president is incredibly thin skinned, don’t ya know. Between that book calling his mother a fat whore and that movie that’s being mailed around claiming she had a porn career before going on t become a fat whore, I find it amazing that he doesn’t send some of his union thug friends to pay a visit to Mr. D’Souza’s house.
“In a post on a conservative blog, she rails against feminists and ‘RINO men’ for ruining marriage and traditional morality.”
While having an affair, she had the nerve to write about “ruining marriage and traditional morality”?
She’s got balls.
@gregor: For real?
As a Christianist, shouldn’t D’Souza know that Jesus Himself condemns adultery? So he’s shocked that introducing his current sleeping partner to attendees of a Christian Apologetics meeting was a no-no?
He’s more of an idiot than I thought he was.
@gregor: Oh, I’m sure that’s going to make a big difference!
@Belafon (formerly anonevent): “Adultery and divorce are higher in the south than any other part of the country.”
Technically, Oklahoma is not part of the south. But it seems to be an honorary member. I note that because I once saw it had the highest divorce rates.
@Warren Terra: Poor thing, looks like an attenuated Ann Coulter.
@Rob in Buffalo:
D’Souza deserves to be shunned by decent society for that vile crap.
@Rob in Buffalo: Trashing a dead woman just because you don’t like her son. So Classy and Christian.
Please do nothing to discourage Miss Odie Joseph II. Or else we risk being denied the pleasure (in a couple of year’s time) of seeing a notorious grifter being grifted of 50% of his ill-gotten gains by a grifter 23 years his junior.
Sister Machine Gun of Quiet Harmony
This behavior isn’t OK with Catholics, either.
What makes this rich is he was down at Spartanberg NC for a big political meeting of Evangelicals called “Truth for a Generation Conference” (I expect one the Truth’s being talked about was how gay marriage destroyed the “sanctity of marriage.”). A couple of interesting reports show tha as much as the Talibanicals and Catholic Church as Spainish Inquistion are joined in an alliance of convenience to fight “the Gay,” women’s rights, and evolution, that they really do continue despise each other as the heretical spawn of Satan that they know each other to be. Definitely, D’Souza saying good-bye to Catholicism was apparently a necessity to say good by to Wife No. 1. http://www.catholicworldreport.com/Blog/1668/then_dinesh_dsouza_leaves_catholic_church_now_he_leaves_wife.aspx
Speaking of Bibical literalism, Protestant or Catholic, Mark Chapter 8, verses 10-11 pretty much blasts anyone who puts aside spouse No. 1 or another. http://artsci.wustl.edu/~cwconrad/Mark/mk8tr.html

@eric: Hell, didn’t John Fund take up with his girlfriend’s daughter?
@Rob in Buffalo: Wow. That’s really nasty. I sometimes wonder whether the president has fantasies of taking people like this out. It also occurred to me on Tuesday, how much GD restraint Obama must have, when Romney started going on and on about violence being linked to single parent households. And yet, it’s Romney’s very own dweeb Tagg, using violent imagery the next day while Obama has never, ever been heard to say anything remotely similar.
@Raven: Oh my God. She is a Randian.
I don’t know anything about D’Souza’s wife or his marriage, or his feelings for this new woman. I don’t feel prepared to judge them.
I am ENTIRELY prepared to judge him for the disgusting hypocricy of his behavior. And hers, for that matter. They do exactly what they think is evil in other people, but hey, it’s DIFFERENT for them. No, everyone is an individual with their own reasons, you’re just a selfish ball of arrogance and hate.
In pre-pre-feminist days she would be seen as using him, and be applauded for taking advantage of an opportunity. In pre-pre-pre-feminist days, you’d be right again. In pre-pre-pre-pre-feminist days, she would be outmaneuvering the previous wife and might take all his money and become wealthy and independent in her own right. In pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-feminist days she’d be put to death, and he might patted on the back or might be put to death himself. The history of sexual attitudes is, no pun intended, fucked up.

Worst insult of the night, imo. And after Obama had taken, for a politician today, a pretty gutsy stand. (Not risky, I would say, because few in his base object to the assault gun ban, but he has been very, very quiet about this issue for years. But gutsy, because we haven’t heard the end of this and he could have just bobbed and weaved some more.)
And yet, it’s Romney’s very own dweeb Tagg, using violent imagery the next day while Obama has never, ever been heard to say anything remotely similar.
Josh’s face said it all, but it was nice of Tagg to confirm it.
Romney’s old campaign posters in Massachusetts had a broom on them. I think we need to take that broom and sweep all the Mittlets off the stage on Nov 7.
She’s probably also a defender of traditional adultery and traditional divorce.
@Triassic Sands: Yep. And since one of the only valid reasons for divorce before “no fault” was adultery, she has her bases covered.
@eric: If he can survive writing a book that argues that the Muslim terrorists are right to hate decadent America, then he can survive a little hypocritical adultery. It’s not like multiple divorces and drug addictions and so on have hurt the “break down of the family” blowhards all that much up til now.

He’s out as president of that crazy ass college he’s been running, although it’s hard to know how much is the adultery and how much is that he’s been a crappy president who’s mostly used the school as a springboard to hock his movie. Because, who could have suspected that he’d turn out to be a wingnut hack rather than a solid but conservative manager of an institution?

Miss Thang II oughta get some introspection instead of projection. D’Souza…..prolly lost cause.
And I just have to say that most of the couples I know from back in the wacky 60’s are still married and/or living with each other. Anecdotal, I know, but it holds true for most all of my friends.
Or reactivate Bill and Hillary’s death squads, from their Arkansas days.
What a couple of fucking assholes who totally deserve each other.
To add to the hypocritical craziness, Mrs. Odie Joseph II seems to also be married.
Also, D’Souza holds himself as Roman Catholic and, to my knowledge, has never left the Church. The RC Church holds this:
It isn’t just that she was married before- she’s a “defender of traditional marriage” that was married on December 30, 2011. Hadn’t stayed together much longer than Britney Spears…
Oh, my. Those blog posts.
She claims (on the same page) to be living in Washington DC and Quebec. She claims to be a lawyer and an interior designer. Quite the Renaissance woman but I can see what she and Dinesh have in common: appalling racism.
She also thinks fashion models are too fat and that watching child porn is OK as long as the porn fans make sure their own underage daughters are modestly dressed. Her comments on modest dress and demeanor are on the same page as her picture with her legs draped naughtily over the back of a couch.
Those two deserve each other.
@Nutella: I posted more links and excerpts from Denise Odie Joseph II on this more recent thread:
