Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

How stupid are these people?

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

This fight is for everything.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

The National Guard is not Batman.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

“Facilitate” is an active verb, not a weasel word.

Reality always gets a vote in the end.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

Text STOP to opt out of updates on war plans.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls 2 years from now.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

Mediocre white men think RFK Jr’s pathetic midlife crisis is inspirational. The bar is set so low for them, it’s subterranean.

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

I really should read my own blog.

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

He BEE adorable. I’m off to ride in this beautiful weather. I voted today and I’m taking the rest of the day off politically. Obama will have to win today’s news cycle without me.

An NFL open thread? CAN THIS BE!? Too bad the games this weekend all kind of stunk. (For me. Your rooting interests may say otherwise.)

Oh, by the way, how did the wild monkey sex on the dining room table go?

Here’s my deep thought. Election day 1) should be a national holiday to encourage voter turnout. “I couldn’t vote because I had to work” shouldn’t be something anyone has to say. 2) If not that, then at least move it to a Friday. (I’d say Saturday/Sunday, but, well, football. Might actually depress turnout.) 3) If not that, then make it illegal for employers to punish employees who show up late and can prove that they were voting.

I picked up a couple of individuals at Whole Foods while grabbing dinner ingredients. This brew by Boulder Beer Company – ‘Hazed and Infused’, which is some kind of dry-hopped ale – is one of the less impressive craft brews I’ve had in a while. Very light-bodied, a bit spicy, and not terribly pleasing. Oh well, you can’t win them all. At least I got a new bottle cap for the future piece of artwork (form to take TBD).

Oh, and the Jets aren’t getting crushed. Yet.

Nice to have the Pats playing a team everybody has a reason to hate.

(That isn’t Dallas. For historical reasons, I can’t get a proper hate going against the fucking Boyz)

Why is this amazing? College football polls are shit, especially when you get past the top 5 or so. Might as well throw darts at a board.

ZOMFG that did not need to be so close (what happened to defensive PI beyond y
5 yds?) but watching Sanchez flop around like a fish on the stern pulpit was worth the three infractions I had watching that abomination of a game

@Mr Stagger Lee: And yet they came very close to beating the Pats today. Same with the Redskins against the Giants.

Both were very exciting games. Viewed as theater, at least.

Cole, quit posting stock photos and passing them off as family members. No real kid is that cute. We have all seen WVA kids and they all look like Honey Boo Boo’s mom.
